I loved the overall story of three intertwined lives and how messed up it was. I enjoyed the characters. They had very realistic feelings and emotions. It did get on my nerves a bit how the hero, Ernest, was such a milksop. It took up most of the story for him to finally get a backbone and do something about his situation. Our heroine, Diana, was a great character. She was sensitive, loving, loyal, intelligent, witty and independent. Our villainess, Grace, was the quintessential selfish, self-serving, inconsiderate, two-faced princess. The author, Emily Honeyfield, knows how to write characters that can be easily related to. I thought using Ernest's fifteen-year-old sister, Rose, as the voice of reason was a smart and ingenious move. Of course, it ends with a happily ever after and the extended epilogue takes a peek into Diana and Ernest's future. I hope Ms. Honeyfield will write a follow-up on Rose. I think she deserves her own book. A good read. I do recommend.
