‘Come with me.’

A.M.Brooks takes us into a world of betrayal and lies where not everyone is as they seem.

When Blaise learns her brother Blake’s death isn’t just a tragic night of fast driving gone wrong its as though a veil has been lifted and the sights of Sin City soon seep into the realty she once would bet her entire night of tips on.

What starts with a one night stand that suddenly shows up into town claiming her brothers death was no accident and the group of guys she’s grown up with are no longer able to be trusted.

With every turn of the page A.M. is able to weave an evidence board filled with crossed strings and interconnecting timelines that refuse to untangle themselves. What happened to Blake? Did his best friend Seth have anything to do with it? Where’s the evidence? And most of all....can she trust Jay, the one night stand undercover cop?

Suspense and mystery with just enough sexual tension between Blaise and Jay make for a fast paced and gripping tale where one girls desire to bring justice to her brothers murderers might just bring the demons to her instead.

description

Where Demons Hide by A.M. Brooks is a beautifully crafted romance full of suspenseful moments that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Jay and Blaise wholeheartedly stole my heart and oh my goodness did I have to fan myself a few times during some of their hot and heavy scenes...I mean DAMN the chemistry these two had from page one was DYNAMITE! The author definitely started these two off with a BANG!

The twists and turns throughout left me absolutely speechless and I couldn't have imagined all of the surprises that the author threw our way. Their story was emotional and heartwarming at the same time. There were times that I found my jaw on the floor and I was left wondering what was going to happen. People aren't always as they seem and we learn exactly where the demons hide...in plain sight.

Loved every second of this story and my only complaint is that I wish it was longer because I wasn't ready for Jay and Blaise's story to end!

Where Demons Hide by A.M. Brooks is a scorching hot, new adult, romantic suspense, that you are NOT going to want to miss! Full of secrets, lies, and betrayals, that will keep you guessing with every twist and turn. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions with this one!

❝ The City of Sin holds more than just secrets…❞
With an absent father and a mother that was rarely around Blaise Palmer didn’t have much of a family growing up. But she did have her best friend, her brother Blake. Ever since they were kids Blake has been the one to take care of Blaise, no matter the cost he made sure she was taken care of the best he could.

Even making her a little pseudo family when he brought his best friends Joey, Seth, Stone, and Antonio into their fold. They all grew up together and were as close to family as they could be.

Blaise and Blake had big plans. Once she finished school they were going to leave their small town and start a new life in Vegas. Every summer the boys would go to Vegas and work small jobs for quick cash and they all had big plans for life what life would be like there.
❝ Blaise, you were his first and last thought always.❞
But everything changes when Blake dies suddenly in a tragic car accident. Blaise’s life spins out of control after the loss of her brother.

Not only has she lost her brother but they guys are all dealing with their own grief and aren’t around when she needs them the most.

The night of Blake’s funeral Blaise just needs to lose herself and she does, in an explosive one night stand in the bathroom of the bar with a sexy stranger.

But six months later when that same mysterious one-night stand stranger shows back up Blaise’s world spins out of control all over again.

That stranger turns out to be Detective Jay McCall, and he has evidence that Blake’s accident wasn’t an accident after all.

With all the mystery surrounding Blake’s death, everyone Blaise cares about is a suspect and she has no idea who to trust.

Jay, the newcomer who claims to have known Blake, OR, the four boys that she has grown up with and considers family?
❝ Who is the enemy and who is on my side? I’m on my own and I feel like I’m being pulled in half between my past and my future.❞
You’ll have to read Where Demons Hide to find out what happens!

Gahhh I am trying so hard not to give away and spoilers! Where Demons Hide is one of those heart-stopping, jaw dropping reads full of suspense that you need to go in blind and reveal the secrets yourself. I always try and play Detective when I read romantic suspense stories like this one and most of the time, I can figure out who to trust and who not to fairly quickly. HA! Up until the very end, I was STILL flip-flopping back and forth on who I thought was trustworthy and who wasn’t.
❝ Trust no one. Not even the ones you feel most loyal to.❞
I loved seeing Trent again! If you have read A.M. Brooks debut Hearts Duet then you’ll know who I’m talking about. We got a little more of what was going on with him during the end of Hearts and Flowers and I am crossing my fingers AND my toes that his story is up next because I am DYING for it!

❝ We’re in deep, and I know I won’t survive if I lose him.❞
I spent the better half of this book just wanting to comfort Blaise. She had such a shitty childhood, and then to lose the one person that she has ever been able to rely on… my heart broke for her. But she was strong, and no matter what she refused to back down until she got answers about what really happened to her brother.

❝ There is a thin line between love and hate. He took the knife of betrayal and cut right through it.❞
I wasn’t sure about Jay at first. He kind of came out of nowhere and like Blaise I wasn’t sure if he could be trusted or not. He was so secretive and some of the things he did made it really hard to believe that he was a good guy. But needless to say, I slowly but surely warmed up to him. Even though there were moments I wanted to slap him in the back of the head because if he had just told Blaise this or that, she wouldn’t have had to second guess him. I loved watching everything unfold though, and finding out just how much he cared for Blaise, and that he’s cared about her much longer then Blaise is even aware of. *Sigh* yeah, I still fell for Jay McCall.
❝ I’d die if anything happened to you. I don’t think you fully understand the magnitude of how I feel about you. You’re mine and I can’t lose you.❞

Blaise and Jay had sparks flying from my Kindle! Jay was a very alpha type guy and even though Blaise was strong-willed and defied him at every turn, the one place she willingly submitted to him was in the bedroom and my oh my… even with all the angst and mystery, this one is scorching hot! From the very first night when they met in that bar the chemistry was explosive between Jay and Blaise. But Blaise is so confused because of all the secrets surrounding Blake’s death that she pushes while Jay continues to pull. I loved the back and forth between them.

That ending… I won’t give away any spoilers but WOW! I just did NOT see it coming. AT. ALL. Like I said, I continued trying to unravel the mystery up until the very end.
❝ My eyes are now open to the demons hiding in plain sight.❞

A.M. Brooks is a new author, but she’s already proving herself to be a brilliant one. I loved her new adult, Hearts Duet. But she blew me away with Where Demons Hide . The way she wrote the emotions that Blaise goes through after the loss of her brother… beautifully written. I ALMOST gave this one four in a half stars instead of five but in the end, decided it deserved its full five-star rating. That was ONLY because I really, REALLY, would have liked to have Jay’s point of view as well. BUT I understand that to keep the suspense of the story going, the author couldn’t really give us his POV. Brooks knew what she was doing with this one.

If you like your romance filled with twists and turns, suspense and a little murder and betrayal, then I highly recommend checking out Where Demons Hide , MUST READ!!!

Wowza! This started of with such heartbreaking thoughts then bam! Straight away sexy, sexy man! Lust filled thoughts. I really enjoyed this. The main characters I fell in love with quickly! Stone and the guys had me on edge, except Joey I really liked him..... There are some really shady moments and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I really want to be a detective to help figure things out!
The sex is steamy and lovely. The fighting is heartbreaking because it comes from dark places and something sad had to happen to cause that! Also can I just say that playlist was the bomb!

Favorite parts:
“For not doing feelings you sure had some flowery phrases in there,” <——— made me laugh.
“Blaise, you were his first and last thoughts always. <——- sobbed through this part!

Reviewing this for the author, such a privilege to read!

A 4 star romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat with intrigue all through the reading of this story.

I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil anything for the readers. Let’s say it’s a scorching hot romantic suspense that had twist and turns. I didn’t know who to trust. Beautifully twisted. The plot got thicker and thicker as I read on.

Standalone told in a single POV with an amazing HEA. I recommend this story.

This book has a little bit of everything! It has mystery, suspense, love, and steam! I loved Blaise from the start. She is a grieving young women who keeps going everyday through her pain. Jay is the new mysterious stranger who she instantly connected with. She soon learns her brother was murdered and she can’t trust anyone. Everyone becomes a suspect to her. She begins to doubt everyone including her friends that are like family. The book is nonstop action with twists and turns everywhere.

I gave this book 4 1/2 stars. I loved it but it just didn’t captivate me as much as some books do. It was a great story with some mystery and romance. Jay and Blaise were good characters. As a reader and blogger that has lived other books by this author I recommend this one also!

"The City of Sin holds more than just secrets."

Where Demons Hide was my first book by the author A.M. Brooks. I was so excited to start this book because the cover and blurb was so amazing. And I found this book overall to be a enjoyable romantic suspsense. However the first 35% of the book was a bit slow for my taste. I understand the sadness was needed for the situations that had happened. But it was a little overkill on Blaise's emotions and her continually pushing people who cared away. However after all that I found the book picked up and kept your interest well. I will give the author Kudos for keeping you guessing until the very last page. I found myself constantly guessing only to change my mind again after a few more pages read. I enjoyed Blaise and Jay together. At times I felt their was a disconnect between their characters but overall they definitely knew how to scorch up the pages of your kindle. I did find myself wishing there was dual POV's at time. I simply wanted me some more Jay.

"For not doing feelings you sure had some flowery phrases in there."

Blaise was a mix of emotions throughout this book. I liked her character, she wasn't your normal heroine. She was sad, lost, and alot broken. My heart broke for the little girl haunted by her broken childhood, and the women haunted by her brothers death. You spent the majority of this book just wanting to hug her. But what I admired most about Blaise was her will. What you seen was what you got with her. She kept her head high and refused to let others walk over her. No matter what happened she did not go down without a fight.

"I guess I overestimated my worth, my mistake. No, your mistake was underestimating mine."

Jay knew how to keep you on your toes from the very start. It took me awhile to warm up to his characte. I wasn't sure if I could trust him right away or not. He had being secretive down to a science. There was just so much where Blaise was concerned I felt he could have executed a little differently. There was just so much he could or wouldn't say when I felt he should have. However by the end of the story his character had me totally won over. That's why I think he would have benefited from having his own POV. It would have helped form that connection with him much faster.

"Trust no one. Not even the ones you feel most loyal to."

*4 STARS*
Well earned for this emotionally charged romantic suspense. Where Demons Hide was a perfectly spun wed of deceit, betrayal, and lies. With all the right twists and turns.

I gave this a four out five stars. I really enjoyed this, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I haven't stayed up late to finish a book in a long while until now. I started it last night and stayed up all night to finish it. I've been having trouble with reading keeping my attention and to continuously read. With this book though I didn't have that problem at all. Some of the conflicts in this book could have been worked out by communicating. I liked how the main character wanted to do things herself and not have everyone else do things for her. This book made me feel a lot of things.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I am very impressed, definitely will be reading by her.
Blaise meets Jay at her brother Blake's funeral but doesn't know his name. Blake raises both himself and Blaise as they are from a broken/dysfunctional family with limited parenting. They grow up with four other boys from similar backgrounds to form their own family. The six are a close knit unit until the fateful night Blake was killed in a car accident. Six months later Jay, a detective, shows back up in Blaise life claiming Blakes death is suspicious. Who do you trust and who do you fear?
This book has great romance, heart stopping suspense, all the elements of a great book. This book is a must read, hard to put down once you start reading.

DNF @ 10%

I requested this book because it's set in my hometown, but I can't continue reading it. There are insane jumps between past and present tense that make it difficult to follow. At first I thought it was just a stylistic thing, but it happens from sentence to sentence for no apparent reason. Throw in a bit of woman-on-woman hate, and I'm out.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley.

This book draws you in immediately. From the very first sentence, you're fanning yourself because it is SIZZLING hot!! In this book, you won't know who's being real and who is spinning a web of lies. A line-up of characters with more layers to peel back and nothing is the way it seems.

This book was provided to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun and quick read! It didn't knock my socks off or anything, but it was very cute and the cartel/crime part made it very interesting.

Writing style: I really liked the style. I can't quite explain what it was, I can just say I liked it. Just enough details to form a proper picture in my head. The tasteful writing kept me reading.

Characters: They were a little flat, but that often seems to be the case in short romance novels. I did get very annoyed by Jay's caveman attitude and the fact that Blaise still had sex with him when he was in one of those demanding moods.

Story: The romance could have been stronger, but I was alright with how it was. The crime part could have been more intense, it wasn't as terrifying as it should be. The story had a lot of potential, but it didn't quite live up to that potential. Still fun enough.

Ending: The ending kinda sucked. The book builds up to a big ending where everything comes together, but it wasn't as shocking as I hoped it would be. It could have been way more intense and fleshed out.

The book was decent enough, but it could have been better. All in all I enjoyed myself and this book gets three stars from me.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a steamy, wild ride. From the first page, I was hooked and could not finish this book fast enough.

Blaise is completely destroyed after the sudden death of her brother, Blake, and then in walks a dark, dominant stranger that sets her world on fire and throws her into a world of mystery and intrigue. Just like this book kept Blaise guessing about who she could trust, I was questioning that right along with her (though I did guess one key detail). Watching Blaise refind her strength and her HOT, and I mean HOT!!!!, romance blossom had me devouring this book in less than 24 hours. There were times when I was holding my breath, wanted to scream, cry, and laugh out loud.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in new adult with a twist.

The City of Sin holds more than secrets. He doesn’t remember me. But, I remember him. The mysterious and brooding Jay McCall. His touch. His kiss. His hands on me. It’s burned into my mind. The one incredible night we shared.

This was a pretty good romantic thriller. I really liked Blaise as she unravels the mystery. Totally satisfied with the HEA. I highly recommend.

Apparently I am part of the minority and am one of the few that did not like this book...

Maybe everyone else read something I didn't? Maybe I had pages missing? Because that would sure explain a lot. This storyline was choppy, all over the place, and difficult to follow. Not to mention keeping all of the 86 men in her life straight...

And what was really frustrating and ridiculous was how FAST they go from meeting to him spending every night in her bed (chapter 8). There was no relationship building. It went from Hi, to grinding on each other at a party, to him driving her home and they do the nasty and are now in love. With all of 20 words shared between them. Blah. Not realistic.

k, bye.

Where Demons Hide...

An intriguing and interesting story!...

Blaise is trying to carry on with life after her brothers death. Her mum is barely there and her brothers friends, who were also hers, up and left after the funeral, so basically she's alone...jeez I just wanted to go to her!!

Then in comes Jay and although she had met him once before, it seems he doesn't remember!? However as time goes on, she soon realises there is so much going on and she had no idea.about any of it!! She doesn't know who to turn to, who to trust, who's being honest with her....

Interesting, intriguing and a decent read.

Wow

I was not expecting this story from the description. The story itself moved quickly, was full of multi mysteries, and you just were not sure who to trust and who was telling the truth and who was telling lies, then you had to sift through the deceptions.
There was romance woven throughout but for me the heroine acted the 18 year old she was supposed to be and I think the story would have been better if she had a little more experience and a couple of more years of age. This story was worth the read

I got this as an ARC by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this book was a bit confusing, and the first 20% were very slow and nothing really happened. It was a bit covering Blaise's emotions but I think that part could have been much shorter and made the book more enjoyable.
I think the romance could have been stronger and they should have had more chemistry.

That was a rollercoaster read. Full of so many emotions. The highs and lows of Blaise’s life were many. No father figure, a drunk for a mother, but at least she had her baby brother. That was until an accident took her beloved brother away from her.

Told in the first person, Blaise tells us all about her feelings, numbness at the loss of her brother, anger at him leaving her, his friends who abandoned him and her at after the funeral. She was going to leave this small town, her and her brother, start a new life in Vegas. But now she doesn’t want that life, if her brother isn’t there to share it with her.

The couple first meet as an explosive one night stand. The passion between them is off the charts, Blaise needs to feel something, then she will go back to her cold and empty life.

Jay is a cop, he needs to see a young woman by the name of Blaise, he needs to give her certain information about her brother, and to ask if she’s seen a member of the group they both ran with. He’s taken by surprise at the woman he meets, she’s the one he had sex with. He needs to stay professional, but there is something about her that just draws him in.

When Blaise finds out her brother was murdered, a whole range of emotions play out. Fear and rage, concern for the rest of her “family” these boys that ran with her brother mean the world to her. But one of them is missing!! Did he have something g to do with Blake’s murder, or has something happened to him?

I liked this book, I’m hoping for more in the series. It was well written and thought out. The emotions Blaise felt were thoughtfully written. The passion between jay and Blaise was tastefully done.

I recieved a free digital copy of this book through Netgalley. All opinions are my own an dare given voluntarily.

So I honestly don't know what to sya about this book... It isn't at all what I was expecting and though it had some good twists and great characters, I was thoroughly confused through the entire book because the title doesn't really fit the book... At one point they use the exact term but it still doesn't make much sense to me.

I wish there was more backstory and more blake I think he would have been an awesome character.

I didn't like Jay he's a liar, Stone, Antonio and Joey all act weird and some of that is explained later in but not completely... Which is also confusing. The epilogue is also confusing especially that little bit at the end with Trent...

It was a whole load of story with twists and lies and a lot of confusion... I know some of that was intentional since we are learning what happened at the same time that Blaise is... But still too much confusion for me... I like a nice clear cut ending which this wasn't even with the epilogue.

This is the reason I've rated it 3 stars, the twists and turns and lies kept me gripped and interested and binge reading and yet the complete lack of character development and ending confusion and having no real answers stopped it from being 4 stars

My first taste of A.M. Brooks's writing and for me, it was a bit of a mixed bag. The opening of Where Demons Hide drew me in but shortly after, I found myself struggling to stay invested in Blaise's story.

I liked Blaise. She was a little sad, a little lost and little broken but not one to go down without a fight. And when Jay storms into her life, it was once again turned on its head. Oh Jay. He had the best of intentions where Blaise was concerned but his execution wasn't the best. Mainly because there was so much he couldn't and wouldn't say.

With more questions than answers popping up at every turn, Blaise doesn't know who to trust.  Torn between the boys of her past, her childhood and the man who has stormed in and set her blood on fire.

It was a whirlwind of lies, lust, betrayal and love. There was so much happening in Where Demons Hide, especially towards the end that my head was spinning. The final showdown where all was revealed had my heart racing. I didn't expect it to be that twisted but I was glad that Blaise and Jay both got some closure and happiness.

To put it simply, I just don’t know where to start with this review. There was so much throughout the book. Once this book landed on my kindle I had to read it. I had to know what type of demons were hiding in this book. But what I found weren’t so much demons. Blaise was who I wish I could be sometimes. No nonsense and tell it how it is attitude. Sometimes I didn’t know whether to envy her or to sympathize with her. She wasn’t one to let people walk all over her. But during that I could feel her push people away. Although I did like the bare bones of this story and what it stood for. I felt as if there could have been a little more content in regards to Jay and Blaise. There were plenty of times they were together but I couldn’t really connect to them as characters. I didn’t feel that feeling deep inside myself every time they kissed or fought. But this was a book that had a bit of suspense. You weren’t sure who did it until the very end. I wish there were half stars I could use.
