Homecoming is a short story that takes place after the events of Last Sacrifice, about Rose and Dimitri, the couple from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series. They are going back to Russia to see Dimitir's family, something that both of them sorely need. Dimitri had finally been restored into a dhampir, after being forcibly changed into strigoi. His family needs to see him for themselves, and Rose needs to go back to Russia and face her trauma from the trip she made before.

Scorpio Richelle Mead is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of urban fantasy books for both adults and teens. Originally from Michigan, Richelle now lives in Seattle, Washington where she works on her three series full-time: Georgina Kincaid, Dark Swan, and Vampire Academy.
A life-long reader, Richelle has always loved mythology and folklore. When she can actually tear herself away from books (either reading or writing them), she enjoys bad reality TV, traveling, trying interesting cocktails, and shopping for dresses. She's a self-professed coffee addict and has a passion for all things wacky and humorous.
God I love these two so much. And Rose never ceases to amaze me when she stands by her convictions. I feel like YA is lacking more protagonists with actual autonomy in regards to their love interests, which is why I'm so happy when Rose shows that you can love someone with all your heart and still be your own independent person at the same time. I know, shocking.
This is more about the reunion, but it actually had its own small plot, which is both surprising and also not. It's Richelle Mead after all, and she doesn't usually do plotless.
These two are my ultimate bookish OTP and I regret nothing. It was so damn good to be with them again, even if just for a few pages. I miss them already, but I'm glad I can get a few glimpses of them in Bloodlines.
I have wanted to read this novella for forever now and I can't believe I have just gotten around to reading it!! This truly did NOT disappoint either!
The Homecoming takes place after Last Sacrifice, Rose and Dimitri take a trip back to his home town in Russia. The last time Rose was there it was under horrible circumstances and told his family that Dimitri was a strigoi. So this is the first time Dimitri and Rose are seeing his family after being restored back to a dhampir. It was very sweet and had some touchy moments. But it's not all rainbows and sunshine, there's an adventure and killing of course. Isn't there always killing? Anyway, there is a very old Strigoi King that has been terrorizing and killing humans. Therefore Rose and Dimitri being guardians set off to rid the world of yet another Strigoi.
I always hated the way Rose and Dimitri's family had left things before she left. So it was wonderful seeing the relationships get patched back up. I love Dimitri's family almost as much as I love him and Rose. They are one of my all-time favorite fictional couples :) I love them individually, I love them together and I love this series with a passion! And I gotta say Dimitri is the first fictional characters I fell head over heels for and still am to this day!!!
I 100% recommend every Vampire Academy lover to read this!!!
Rose and Dimitri are back and they are travelling to Dimitri's hometown to see his family. This was a bitter-sweet read for me as I love Rose and I like Dimitri but I didn't want them to end up together. Oh well!
I do love the Vampire Academy universe that Richelle Mead created and I'll read anything set up in this. This was a good short-story. Not my favorite but still I enjoyed it.
That's another big no for me They're still the most annoying person, in this story everything it's just crazy and just AAHH! It makes me scream and now I'm 100% Rose is in the list of the worst main characters I've read
Me reading the Vampire Academy epilogue... it really felt like homecoming. Even though Mead writing wasn't as good or the story as deep as I'm used to, it did what I expected it to do. Which is push me into reading the spin-off series. For the first time, I'm actually excited to do so. I missed this vampire world.
Well maybe this isn't the best story I've read, but it was definitely what I needed, love this characters and I was missing them pretty bad. Maybe I should reread the series 🤔
A pretty sweet way to wrap up Vampire Academy, insofar as showing Rose and Dimitri as a couple. I can't say I cared much for the action in the story, but it wasn't bad, either. Just one final victory before closing the series!
This started out potentially interesting but kind of became a very typical action sequence novella that didn't tell us much about anything (though perhaps actual fans of Rose/Dimitri might appreciate their moments.)
We love extra Romitri in Russia content but I bumped this down a star because there was too much plot where there should have been simply... domestic bliss. I adored seeing the Belikov family again, and all the teases of marriage. I need more Romitri in Russia fluff, Richelle!!
I've read so many things related to this universe lately that I feel I have no words left to describe how much I enjoy it. 😆 I was *extremely* excited to find out there is a sequel to the Vampire Academy series. 😍 This books taught me the pleasure of reading. 📖 This book just makes everything even better. 🤗 It was so short it could hardly go wrong. 😅 (Especially when you love Richelle Mead the way I do! 🤭) I was a bit disappointed of the actual end of the series (the end of the last book) so I had high hopes this would change something in my heart 🫀, and thank God it did! 🙏 It was sweet and sour, just what was missing (like a cherry 🍒 on top of a cake 🍰). One more adventure to witness, one more event that brings Rose and Dimitri closer to each other, one more memory with this gorgeous characters. 🥰 . I know I'm not good at reviewing the books I like because I usually have no idea how to put into words what that book made me feel 🙈 but I hope I can convince you to give it a shot. 😌
I was wondering why nobody mentioned his family - or their reaction to news of his resurrection, such as it was - in the final novel. This is an answer to that. It was okay but not as satisfying or lengthy as I had hoped it might be, as it's a short story and not a novella. I'm just glad I found a site to read it for free without having to purchase or download anything, as the anthology it's published in isn't available at my library.
I'm sad to say that it wasn't very good. I'd be sorry if I'd spent money on reading it.
Getting to read these short stories just brings back fond memories of the VA series. I love getting to read more about my favourite series. Rose and Yeva's banter is hilarious but I too am rooting for a Romitri wedding 💙
Not as good as all the series. Hopped to see them after longer period of time, read about Victoria and Rose talk about what happened last time. It was cute, but... not as good as expected.
It was fine, honestly kinda unnecessary, but maybe I should just start with Sydney and Adrians Story again so I don't get too fed up with Rose and Dimitri haha
