Father #2

For the Love of a Boy

Rate this book
I was living in darkness. Cold and alone, I was gripped by the agony of loss and grieving for an existence I no longer believed I could have. Then he appeared in my life and I thought that maybe, just maybe, I’d been gifted with another chance at happiness. That I might be allowed the privilege of loving and caring for another man. That I could have my very own boy…A new beginning is more than Malcolm ever dared wish for.Now that Malcolm has claimed Seth as his boy, he’s determined to be the perfect Daddy for the man he adores. Whatever his boy needs, he’ll make sure he gets it. But more than that, he’s sworn in his heart to protect him with his life. Seth’s bastard of a father and the twisted church that abused his boy had better stay away from them—or else.Seth has discovered comfort and safety in his Daddy’s arms. Finally, Seth accepts that a life filled with joy is possible. He believes that love is what matters more than anything and that he has nothing to be ashamed of. However, the demons of his past still taunt him, lurking in the shadows of his mind where they try and snatch away his happiness. Sometimes it seems as if his lingering fears will never be vanquished. And sometimes, being afraid is a warning that should be heeded… For the Love of a Boy is the continuation of Malcolm and Seth's journey of love, redemption and healing in the Father series trilogy. The first book, In the Name of the Father, should be read prior to this one. However, you can be assured that none of the books in the Father series end on a cliffhanger and that this age gap, Daddy/boy series with lots of hurt/comfort contains a sweet forever after.Father Series reading In the Name of the FatherFor the Love of a BoyNow and ForeverT References to past child abuse, a scene of on-page violence.

More with our Daddy/boy relationship, Malcolm and Seth....
Daddy Malcolm, 40s, and his boy, Seth, 24, continue to show us their complicated times. Seth had been rescued after escaping his father’s and his church’s wrath, at a conversion camp in book one. Now, we see our guys lives settling down, and moving forward.
Seth is working on getting his GED, legal documents, and trying therapy again. Malcolm is a devoted Daddy, taking excellent care of his boy, physically and mentally. Their sexy times are sizzling hot, and we also see Seth’s social skills improve. It still hurts to hear more of the horrendous ways Seth was treated. We watch the bravery Seth shows in helping to send the evil ones to justice. It’s tense going when the bad guys find Seth, and needs to be rescued
Our men’s devotion, adventures and sexy fun, are happy events for each man.
Well done Daddy/boy, cock caging, butt plug use, dirty talk, healing/comfort, aftercare and safety. A beautiful cover. Plus our deserving men find their unconditional love.
ENJOY!

An absolutely heartbreaking hurt/comfort romance, Morticia Knight’s Father series, continues with For the Love of a Boy. The second book in the series ends in a very ‘happily for now’, so don’t despair (as I did), Seth is safe in Malcolm’s loving arms!

Meant to be read in order, you’ll need to start with In the Name of the Father, and be sure you’ve got this one loaded up and ready to go. Even better, get this series in audio and you’ll be able to appreciate Nick J. Russo’s brilliant performance!

I’ve been a huge fan of NJR for years, and his performances are always impressive - but what he brings to Morticia Knight’s Father novels elevates his skills to a new level. This is a beautiful story, and both characters have led amazing lives. The passion Mr. Russo infuses into these emotional scenes is truly heart-wrenching.

A gorgeous story, a stunning audiobook series, Morticia Knight’s Father series is an absolute must!

While I found the elements of suspense, although predictable, a bonus, the book felt and read so depressing to me. I figured that Seth would struggle through his recovery over years of conditioning, but there was just too much of it, and I couldn't wait for it to be over. It made me sad, and that was not what I wanted to feel while reading this book. The dynamic between the men was well written, but at times it felt like Malcolm was fawning over Seth, and Seth just irritated me. It shouldn't have been like that but I couldn't help it. I just got so upset after I finished it. The intimate moments were good, but again so much of Seth's past just kept creeping back into their lives. I wished less of it, and a bit more positivity. It was me, not the book.

These books absolutely need to be read in order since it's a continuous story with one taking up where the one before it leaves off. Malcom and Seth are the perfect characters for this series as well as the perfect couple. They're settling nicely into their relationship and are still exploring their Daddy/Boy relationship. The story starts out a little slow, but things pick up as they start to face Seth’s past. Seth has, and will probably always have, a lot of lingering trauma from his past, which is understandable, but Malcom (Daddy), is determined to help him through it and be the supportive, understanding "Daddy" that his "Boy" needs. While we are told about the things that happened to him before he ran away, and in this one we learn that he is now seeing Dr. Clay, a therapist...we don’t get to see the emotional fallout from those sessions, which must have been over whelming for Seth. I found myself hoping to at least see that Seth was benefiting and finding peace. The police are finally involved, and we did begin to see that Seth's father and the so-called church, were going to finally get the punishment that they so rightly deserved. Just when I started to believe that Seth was safe, we see that the "church" had also been busy trying to find him. I wondered when that would happen back from the end of book #1. I always thought the perfect isolation that this couple enjoyed, was going to eventually come back to bite them. We do get the hint of a very solid "happy for now" and the assurance that these two will get their happy ending, so I can't wait to see that all play out in the final installment.... which, of course, I have started. Morticia Knight has always presented a more than worthwhile read with excellent characters that you can easily love or equally hate in everything she writes. I Loved her Kiss of Leather series. I have read it three times now and I know I will reread this trilogy again many times also.

This book/series was provided by the author in return for an honest review. I read the entire series and will be breaking up my reviews for each book, and then summarizing them all for the box set.

For the Love of a Boy continues Seth and Malcolm's story. One line synopsis: Seth's confidence is growing until his past comes back to haunt him.

While I still enjoyed reading about the blossoming Daddy/boy dynamic between Malcolm and Seth, there's a lot of story gaps where I would have liked to have seen more of the in-depth feelings. As I mentioned in book one's review there are encounters that were glossed over like therapy visits, though I do see how those could be trigger issues for some readers. But with their non-appearance I missed a needed connection to Seth.

Emotional scenes are told in snippets leaving me feeling unresolved about several issues. They go to the club where we're teased with seeing a demo, and there's no follow up with how Seth felt. Seth takes his GED but we don't learn his feelings about passing it?

We finally see the two MCs interact with Nate and Tina, but I wanted Malcolm's mom. We only get a glimpse of her with a phone call. Also the non-existent presence of friends felt unreal. Is Nate seriously Malcolm's only friend? The sex scenes continue to be great fun with Seth experiencing new positions and toys.

PS - I'm confused by the covers of this series: especially the tattoos on the younger man who Malcolm comments is free of any marks, and who is the Daddy here? cause the pictures make it look like the younger man is.

The continuation of educating, nurturing and protecting baby boy Seth by his daddy Malcolm. A likable series, likable MCs, and good pacing.

3.5 stars - This is a continuation of book 1, so definitely start there before diving into this one. Malcom and Seth are settling into their relationship as they explore their Daddy/Boy relationship. This starts out a little slow, but things pick up as they face Seth’s past.

Seth has a lot of lingering trauma from his past, understandably so, and Malcom is determined to help him through and be the supportive Daddy his Boy needs. While we are told about things happening, we don’t get to see much emotional fallout from the events, i.e. therapy sessions, scenes, etc. and I found myself longing for those details, much like I did in the first book.

This was a slow read for me, as I was just not getting the feelings from the characters or enough details to really spark my interest. The scenes were fun and interesting, but the isolation of this couple felt off. We do get a very sold happy for now and the assurance that these two will see a happy ending, so it will be satisfying to see that all play out in the final installment.

Third-person POV
Possible trigger warnings: Past abuse and conversion camp victim. On page scene of violence, drugging, and attempted kidnapping.

Seth and Malcolm are adjusting to their lives as boy and Daddy. With the help of Pastor Callum, Malcolm's friends, Nate and Tina, and adding a therapist, Seth is making progress but when detectives start building a case against the church, demons from the past rear their ugly head.

This is a continuation from IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER and their story *will* continue in NOW AND FOREVER (March 2020). You must read the first one before reading this one.

I'm glad our guys are embracing their HEA and are moving on with there lives. Daddy Malcolm is loving on his boy Seth and helping him adjust to living in the "normal" world. Seth is adjusting as best as to be expected and Malcolm is being so patience with him. Slowly but surely Seth is breaking out of his shell and exploring new things and ideas with his Daddy.

Even though our guys are moving on with there lives things are still triggers for Seth in his everyday life. With the help of his Daddy and Dr. Cray he is becoming stinger everyday. I don't want to go into the crux of the story but I wish the uninvited guests would have suffered more. That's just me! Looking forward to the final book in the series!

Not a saggy middle (an audio review)

Seth is still in his dark place. He might have escaped from his conversion therapy camp, but those memories haunt him. He never can quite get out from under them.

Malcolm wants to help but sometimes finds himself powerless. He can’t lessen Seth’s nightmares. He can’t make Seth feel safe. He can just offer love, support, and protection.

But he knows it might not be enough.

For now, though, he can offer security. And within their Daddy/boy relationship they can both begin to heal. Because Seth wasn’t the only one with a tragic backstory. But together they can forge something beautiful.

Until the day Seth’s past comes calling.

(There’s a trigger warning for on-page violence and that warning needs to be heeded.)

This book brought me hope and, by the end of it, I was ready for this Daddy and boy to get their forever happiness. Which conveniently is coming in the final instalment that I’m off to listen to right now.

And I’ll mention Nick J. Russo who does a great job with this book. I always enjoy his narrations and this book was just another one to rack up as well done.

This is the second book in the Father series and cannot be read as a standalone.

Again this one started off really slow for me and took a while to get into.

Malcom and Seth are continuing their relationship as daddy and boy. They are trying to get the church and Seth's father brought up on charges of abuse.

Seth is having a lot of demons from his past haunt him. Every time he takes one step forward, something seems to knock him back a step. His daddy Malcom just tries to be there for him, and be supportive.

Will definitely listen again, but was a little bummed that all of the conflict wrapped up so conveniently in the end. I can't wait for the last book in the series. I just love these characters and how they fit together and care for one another. Another great story here!

Good one

This was a good follow-up to the first one. We are able to see Seth attend therapy to work through his trauma. We are him trying to find himself and grow more. The author did a great job of developing the characters stronger and showing their growth!

"When you say you’re proud of me or that I’m a good boy, I…I’ve never felt such happiness as that, such satisfaction.” Seth regarded him intently. “Before you, I was a disappointment to everyone. Useless. A waste. With you, I’m special. Worthwhile. I need to be the best boy for you.”

The first book in this series was a 5 star read for me, full stop. This... felt unnecessary. Whereas the first book left you hopeful for the future where Seth would heal, most of this book focuses on Seth's setbacks. There wasn't really anything that furthered the story of these two, other than some closure maybe for Seth, but that didn't even happen until the very end. Overall, I wouldn't change that I read this, but I wanted more development rather than just rehashing Seth's issues in between some hot sex scenes.

Well she did it again

From book one to this one you did not have to try and figure out for lost time book two pick up so smoothly it was if you never left book one. The storyline was well written and the narrator brought all the characters alive.
If you read book one you meet Seth a young man who was raised in ultra religious church that had a camp to try and pray the gay away. Malcolm is the second person he meets Seth and tries to help him get better learn who he is and right all the wrong Seth has been through and help help him grow was the basis of book one. In this book we see Seth has grown and started accepting who he is and what wrongs his father and the church had done to him and so many others. Seth and Malcolm have hired both a lawyer and detectives to investigate the church, the leaders, Seth father and the camp. While this going on Seth get to enjoy his first Thanksgiving and Christmas with Malcolm not in the way he was taught he was able to relax and have friends and Malcolm parents over to enjoy the season something he could not do at home. Christmas was special for him due as with Thanksgiving he shared with friends and but he received presents something he never experienced before and he went out shopping and went to his first bar. Life has gone from hell to almost heaven but an attempt to kidnapped him by members of the church even though it felled the attackers were arrested but Seth world started crumbling around him again Malcolm took charge to help again to rebuild what the church had tried to destroy. For Malcolm it was a new beginning for him also to take a step back and look at his own life and business and see how he had felled himself and with new strength and determination he would start to help both him and Seth to rebuild both their lives as one and learn to take life as it come and there was two not just one to do all the fighting for what is right in Seth life but in Malcolm's life and his business.

The strength of their love, the Daddy/ boy dynamic, can overcome anything.

OMG, what a great second book in the Father series! I was blown away. I have loved Malcolm and Seth since I first read about them; eagerly awaiting this continuation of their story. Watching their Daddy/ boy dynamic flourish, their love strengthen, is thrilling. Malcolm is so sensitive to Seth's needs, adapting to ensure he is safe, loved, and growing into the man he is meant to be. Did you know a teddy bear is a support animal? You will love this book as much as I do! If you haven't read In The Name of The Farther, read it. It will show you how Seth & Malcolm met. It is also a great book.
This book continues Malcolm and Seth's story. Still haunted by the past abuse done by his father & his "Church", Seth is slowly recovering. A therapist is helping him come to grips with what happened, so he can move forward. Seth embraces life, eager to please his Daddy. Malcolm just wants what's best for his boy. And he will do anything to protect him. The emotional impact of their first Christmas will have you tearing up. Trigger points: There is a police investigation, and reference to past emotional & physical abuse. There is also love, honesty, trust, compassion, and passion. Yes, there is sex. There is HEA. But this story isn't over. I cannot wait for the next book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Oh, my goodness gracious! Morticia Knight keeps up the very fine work she initiated with 'In the Name of the Father, Book 1' of the Father series. We find that Malcolm (daddy) and Seth (boy) have solidified their relationship, each filling a need for the other that is so beautifully depicted and described in the books. Seth is still recovering from the severe abuse he suffered as a child in one of the worse churches I've ever read about in fiction, and that's saying something! (The LGBTQ+ community has suffered terribly from the attitudes, opinions, and doctrines of the church. And the toxicity has found its outlet in literature!) Malcolm's commitment to keeping Seth safe and happy after all he's endured is wonderfully endearing. But an old evil finds its way back into Seth's new world and, thank goodness, that terror is beautifully and triumphantly resolved. Nick J. Russo's performance as perfect as ever. He handles the story with such tenderness and sensitivity. What a joy to hear him read book 2 of this series as well.

Soooo Goooood

I've read both books in the Father Series and Seth and Malcolm are so good together. Poor Seth, it's hard to believe that people can think the way his family did in this day and age and totally unown you simply for being gay. Luckily Malcolm came into his life to pick up the pieces of his broken heart. Seth also helped Malcolm rediscover himself and he became the Daddy Seth needed. I'm glad therapy was also added to the story to make it realistic as I don't think anyone can just bounce back and into a BDSM lifestyle without some forms of therapy. I can't wait for book 3 next month.

This is one of the books where I'm not sure how I felt at the end of it. What felt off in the first book continued here.
I love their relationship as it have developed, and become something more stable, and something that Seth can rely on. But at the same time something was missing. I wanted to dive deep in to Seth's head, really get the feel for his own troubles.

I felt that the characters didn't develop as much as a second book should grant them, and the things that happened to rock the boat only gave small ripples, it didn't feel enough. It would have felt natural with more doubt in their fast growing relationship, things were too neatly stacked up.

Just needed more.
