Roman I’m demanding. I’m strict. I get what I want. And I want Lucy Neill. She is mine. She is my girl. My little. My life. My world. She just doesn’t know it yet. Lucy I lost my job. I have no idea what I'm going to do next. I should not be spending Friday night at a club. I can’t help myself. The club calls to me. The owner calls to me. I crave the forbidden. I never realized how much I needed a daddy.

Raising Lucy by Becca Jameson is the First book in the Surrender Series. This is the story of Roman and Lucy. Roman loves to dominate and is a Dom but something has been missing / off for a while. But when he lays eyes on Lucy he knows she is gonna to be his. Lucy is a young lady who is strong on the inside but is also innocent in so many ways. Their story is going to fall into the Daddy type relationship which is always a great hot read.
Once trust is broken, you don't just become ok with it in a few minutes of conversation. He lied, he manipulated her, he was a rich stalker with the means to ruin her with his machinations. Roman hired a PI before he had even spoke to her that broke into her apartment to go through her things and got her fired from her job so he could have her desperate for a job with him. When he hired her, he threatened to discipline her. Bosses do not discipline employees. Once he tricked her into moving in, he dressed her and everyday new clothes were delivered as she put the worn ones in a chute. She didnt leave for weeks, but if she wanted to, how was she going to with no adult clothes? Roman was not acting as her Dom, he railroaded her into compliance. He withheld mail regarding her family. The lifestyle is trust. He totally broke it and she just skips over it and let's him get away with no consequences. So, she needed security and a redo on growing up feeling loved and such. This does not give the rich a@$$"%", the right to change her life before he even knew her. To manipulate her job and choices. I wish she had left him for awhile and showed she had grown up in her time with him.
Compelling, complex, and oh so sensuous! With RAISING LUCY, author Becca Jameson begins a new series around Surrender, the premier fetish club in Seattle, Washington, and one that caters to those in the BDSM lifestyle. RAISING LUCY tells the story of Surrender’s owner and founder, Master Roman, whose 20-year search for the perfect submissive seems to be over when Lucy Neill steps into his club one Friday night, is an exacting man. Roman has waited and watched for 20 years to find her, and for the last few weeks, he has plotted and planned to make sure that Lucy will be his. Lucy, a twenty-two-year-old introverted virgin, has been coming to Surrender to see if what she has read in her romance books is, in reality, something she wants to pursue. Observing those involved with an age-play, Lucy loves the idea of giving up all of the worries which plague her daily to a Master willing to grace her with time to just obey. Then, on the very day she is fired, Lucy fills out an application to be an assistant to Master Roman, the man she has been secretly lusting over for weeks. Imagine, getting to see Master Roman every day? While it sounds wonderful on one hand, Lucy hopes that her insecurities will not get into the way of excelling at her job. RAISING LUCY, the tale of Roman and Lucy illustrates the softer side of the BDSM kink, and I thoroughly enjoyed this new, for me, view! It is still kinky, explicit and not the fare for those younger than 18. RAISING LUCY is everything I love about Becca Jameson’s eloquent, descriptive, and easy-to-read prose with just the right amount of angst and sensuous suspense to keep me turning pages to finish the novel in one day. I volunteered to read an early copy of RAISING LUCY and fell deeply in love with Lucy and Roman along with a whole cadre of secondary characters I hope to learn more about in the additional novels in this new Surrender series. I loved this simply complex novel, which you will have to read in order to understand that seeming oxymoron, and I am voluntarily reviewing RAISING LUCY which has earned a glowing 5+STARS. Full of emotion, characters which grow as a result of the unconditional love they are shown, and a secondary cast of characters that are just so much fun this reader can’t wait to get to know them better, RAISING LUCY should be your next romance purchase! This Surender Series by author Becca Jameson is going to be GREAT! Happy pages! 😉
I have to say that this was very different from other Becca Jameson novels, this was very much a dark book and Master Roman really made sure that Lucy was under his grip. I found this very hard to take and half the time I wanted to tell Lucy to run for it. Roman was too controlling for me, the BDSM aspect was more than the LLDG. I wanted a nurturing Daddy who showed Lucy all the things she missed out in her childhood. But this Daddy wanted to see her on her knees, and wearing clothes she was unhappy in. I found him a little too controlling, not dominating.
The H is too controlling and cold towards Lucy. He sets eyes on her and instantly knows she is “the one” but instead of loving her the way she is, he instead devises a crazy plan to keep her close, groom her and make her into the perfect Little for him.
I get she was intrigued by the lifestyle but I hated how he went about introducing her to it all. It was too manipulative and underhanded.
It all ended well but it wasn’t what I look for in these types of reads. If you like Dd/lg books definitely try any of Laylah Roberts or Lucky Moon.
Raising Lucy is the first book in the new series Surrender. Surrender is a BDSM club owned by Master Roman and managed by Master Julian. We meet both in this book. We also get a glimpse of several role playing aspects of this lifestyle that I found informative and well written.
I have read many books based on BDSM relationships, but this is the first one that deals with the Daddy Dom/Little relationship. Now before you freak out, this is role play, it is consensual, and the players are all adults.
Lucy has been visiting Master Roman's Club Surrender, she hasn't played but has been observing and learning. As this book opens Lucy has lost her job, and instead of wallowing she decides to go to Surrender, one last hurrah. She has a visitors pass but without a job she won't be able to afford membership.
Master Roman is a very dominant, very controlling, alpha male. I have to say I didn't like the extremes he was going to in order to have Lucy near him, it seemed close to obsession.
Lucy on the other hand is curious about the lifestyle and seems to particularly enjoy watching scenes with age play. With the opportunity to become Master Roman's assistant at hand she applies then enjoys her last night at Surrender. She really never expected to get the job, but she does.
Master Roman controls his home the same as everything else in his life. He is a Dom 24/7. From her meals and transportation to and from the mansion, he is slowly dominating Lucy. She is reveling in the attention and as Roman learns more about her he realizes she never really had a childhood.
Lucy wants to please, and even though she shouldn't she has interesting fantasies about her employer. Of course she doesn't have a clue how he feels or that he's planned all of this out.
In spite of his obsession, Master Roman clearly cares for Lucy and his friends are watchful.
The experimentation with different ages and the intensity of the attraction is evident on every page.
Even though age-play isn't a favorite of mine, I enjoyed the insight and the journey the book take us on.
I look forward to seeing where Becca will take us next in this series.
Raising Lucy is the first installment in Becca Jameson’s Surrender series. Readers witness the romantic journey of Lucy and Roman. They are opposites. He is a wealthy and established businessman who is also a Dom. She is an innocent and an introvert, who has lived a harsh life void of love and encouragement. At 18 she is left to fend for herself. She struggles as a receptionist for an accounting firm living paycheck to paycheck. t brings them together when Lucy guest a six-day pass to Surrender, a BDSM private club, that Ramon owns. When he sees her for the first time he knows she is his and goes about creating a plan to get her. Will he be successful? To find out, you must read this book.
I enjoy Ms. Jameson’s writing style. She is very detailed which, for me, slows the pacing of her plot with a theme of age-play. It is definitely a character-driven plot. Both lead characters grow by the end of the book. There is an age-gap in this romantic plotline as well. I enjoy her skillful use of conversational dialog and internal monologues, dual POV, and descriptive language.
In these generic books, when the woman does something wrong, she's punished (often harshly). When the man does something wrong, he only has to say "I'm sorry, we good?" And she forgives him -- instantly.
So, this is what Roman does to Lucy: he stalks her, breaks into her apartment and goes through her things without her permission, gets her fired from her job, lies to her, and, most egregiously of all, withholds important information about her family from her. And Lucy pretty much does nothing except cry for a few minutes. It would be nice to read a book that at least once depicted real consequences for the H when he screws up -- particularly when he screws up as badly as Roman does here. The fact that Lucy continues to trust him and stays with him after she finds out that he manipulated and lied to her is due only to the magic of fiction; it's not believable at all that someone in her position would react the way she does.
There's a fine line between dominance and too controlling (Roman's behavior is actually beyond creepy), and Roman crosses it many, many times.
Raising Lucy is an intense story. It’s a story of total submission, of giving up total control, and a whole lot of daddy kink.
Roman is the owner of Surrender, a BDSM club. He sees Lucy at the club and from that moment on he knew she was his little. The only problem is that she is new to the lifestyle and doesn’t yet know that she belongs to Roman.
Roman manipulates everything to make Lucy his, to have her living under his roof, and in his presence 24/7. That is where it all begins. Lucy finds her place in the lifestyle making both of them extremely happy, satisfied, and content.
I love Becca Jameson and everything she has written. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
I was pleasantly surprised with how long and detailed out story turned out to be. However, I’m incredibly disappointed with the the overall resolution of the Hero’s secret being exposed and how egregious it was. One of the cornerstones (if not the very foundation) of the lifestyle is trust and communication and it’s difficult as the reader to understand that any heroine wouldn’t go through a harder time resolving the manner in which the betrayal happened. Definitely more than a few pages in a book this size. This issue almost made the book not worth it to me...
Raising Lucy is not for everyone. It will definitely challenge some reader's sensibilities. Becca James has created two characters who are interesting, dynamic and richly complex. Add to that a great supporting cast of characters and a captivating story, you get an excellent reading experience.
Roman is a Master in every aspect of his life. Seeing Lucy walk into Surrender the first time sets him on a irreversible path that could give him the love of the one woman he's searched for all his life or it could destroy him. I loved that Roman, a man so completely immersed in his Dominance, got his boxers in a bunch over a mere slip of a young woman.
Lucy may be 22 and have the body of a woman but physical attributes aside, her upbringing has left her emotionally if not psychologically immature. She has a real air of naivetě and innocence about her. That innocence is what calls, no make that, shouts to Roman's protective, nurturing nature. Make no mistake though, Lucy has an inner strength that keeps her from becoming a doormat. As they explore a Daddy/middle relationship it seems to fulfill needs they both have, it's not all smooth sailing. There are some definite bumps along the way.
Another great read from Becca Jameson. From the very beginning of “Raising Lucy” I was drawn into the story. For the book starts off with Roman, the owner of Surrender, who put a plan together to get Lucy. A woman he saw when she first went into his club and he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. Once he saw her he knew she was his. Roman was looking for his forever woman and he believes Lucy is that woman. So he put a plan together, hired a PI to learn more about her and came up with a plan. Then one day Lucy was fired from her job as a secretary for two years so she decides to go to Surrender for the last time. When there she was told the owner, Master Roman, was hiring an assistant, so she applied for the job. I could not put the book down to learn what happens between these two for there is an attraction from when they first see each other. To learn what happens between these two I believe as a reader you should find out for yourself. I highly recommend this book.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.
i feel very on the fence about this one. i really liked the couple and the sort of personal development that both fo the charcaters showed over the course of the story, but i really hated the kink stuff they were doing. i would like to preface this by saying that while i will never kink shame and do not care what you do, there was somethign abotu the way this was done that made me a bit uncomfy. i didnt like that the MMC was getting her not to wear a bra and stuff, even though she was very clearly incredibly uncomforatbel without wearing one. also, the 'chastitity' underwear? that was weird. overall it was a pretty ok book, but while i really enjoyed somethings, there were quite a few things that i really didnt like. another one of those things would be the way the staff saw eveyrhting happening and woudl watch and interact with it. it was just a little bit grotty to me. give it a read if you want, dont if you dont, you know how it is.
I'm going to say that I don't usually read this type of romance because I just don't get it but I think, after reading about Roman and Lucy that I have a better understanding of what age play can be.
Lucy didn't really have a childhood and it really affects how she relates to the world in general but Roman knows he can help her. And he does help her. He also falls in love with her and almost loses her when she discovers everything he has done. 💗🔥💕
This is the first book in the Surrender series. Again, this story deals with the BDSM lifestyle and its various kinks. So if you aren't a fan of this type of storyline then you probably might want to skip it... but it's so good! 😉🥰 ❤️
I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This had tons of feels. A dominant Alpha who found his one. I loved Roman and Lucy's story. Yes, this was a overwhelming, overprotective and strict Daddy Dom who made plenty of mistakes in the beginning. You were yelling along with his friends, no , no, no, back up , your actions in the beginning are going to come back and bite you in the butt. Lucy was adorable as a middle and a woman who was exploring her wants and needs. . Great passion and chemistry between the two . Not only is Lucy growing up while exploring her sexuality, but you see the gruff Roman grow as well. Both their personal stories are heartbreaking, but their understanding of each other's emotional well-being is endearing. You are right there with them as they have their ups and downs.
This story has a interesting vibe and my feeling on this story go back and forth between feeling like Roman is over reaching to understanding what was in his head. Of course understanding isn’t always agreeing with his methods. Also, his friends clearly know that he should approach things a bit differently but they don’t step in either. On the other hand Lucy does gives consent to participate in the activities once she is working for Roman although she doesn’t understand how she got there. Her anger when she discovers the truth is justified. I’m glad they were able to work things out but I think I would have made Roman work a bit more before I just forgave him.
I got the book as a give away at a book convention and picked up the audio as a way to mark this off my TBR pile. The only complaint on the narration is it seemed really slow and I had to bump it up to a faster speed.
It is easy for me to say that I am a big, Jameson fan! Her stories may not always bring you to a comfortable place, but, that's okay, I love to be challenged. Raising Lucy took me out of my comfort zone. What I got was a wonderful love story. It may not be easy for Roman and Lucy to find their "comfortable" niche, and there are challenges along the way. Can their love for one another bring them to a happily ever after? I was rooting for it! This story brought smiles, almost tears, wonderful story-telling, and hours of great entertainment!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Master Roman has the reputation of being one of the most severe Doms in Seattle. He also owns the fetish club Surrender and he has set in motion acquiring Lucy for himself he hopes she’s the one he’s been looking for all his life. Lucy was fired today and instead of looking for a job she decides to go to the club Surrender, when Lucy gets to Surrender she signs in, Cindy greets Lucy says hello and mentioned that Master Roman is looking for an assistant Lucy tells Cindy she was just fired and Lucy takes an application for the job. Lucy has always thought Roman is hot although she has never met him. This is The Very Basic Beginning to a very erotic suspenseful romantic mystery I was given this and I voluntarily leave this review.
unable to finish, his actions came across as too mentally and emotionally abusive
Written by one of my favorite authors, however, the *hero* is a manipulative b@astard who destroys her life in order to force her into his life. Instead of simply going up to talk to her immediately stating she is his, he lies to his friends to get them to help, stalks her, gets her fired so that she has to rely completely on him. He doesn’t deserve the title of master or dom, his very actions betray the trust that should be built up before any relationship of any kind starts. I was so disappointed in this book. Some of his actions were so emotionally and mentally abusive in my opinion. They were definitely triggers for me so I was not able to finish it.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this story. It centers around a fetish I had no idea existed. By the time I finished, you could say I received quite the education.
The author did a great job taking the reader through not only the lifestyle, but the psychology behind both people, their reasons for being drawn to it, and what they received as payoff for their participation. I thought the quick resolution and acceptance after the heroine's discovery of betrayal (known from the beginning of the novel through the Dom's POV) was a little too quick. But I have to realize that's how I would have handled it, then accept and see it through Lucy's eyes.
I love Becca Jameson and if you have not read her books you definitely need to start! That said, this one will not be for everyone. It’s got all the steam, suspense, and amazing characters as her other books, but this one deals with a very particular kink that most people aren’t really going to be comfortable with. Age play is definitely not something I’m interested in, but the way that the author tackles it, allows you to suspend your preconceived notions and just enjoy the characters and of course the steam. I can’t wait for the next book!
It was good. The premise for the age-play relationship creates a nice little plotline with a bit of drama throughout the story. Thematically it mostly revolves around obedience, dress-up, and sexual tension. So it's definitely on the lighter side, but it works well within the context of the story. There's a little time-skipping here and there that I'm not too fond of, as I would have preferred more filling to add depth to the characters and the journey of their relationship. But otherwise, as said, it was good.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! This was a great book ! Lucy was not expecting Roman when she walk into "Surrender" One look at Lucy, and Roman knew that she would be his. Let the wooing begin. Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
Becca Jameson has a way of writing a book that draws you in immediately. Raising Lucy is no different. When everything seems to be going wrong, what is a girl to do? Lucy doesn’t know where her interest in the BDSM lifestyle comes from, nor does she know if it is right for her. She has lost her job and wanders into the club for the last time since she can’t afford a membership. When she submits an application to be the club owners personal assistant, she has no idea where this will lead.
The duplication of a type of middle was well done. The character development was good as well introducing other charaters that i can't wait to hear about in future books. Some words are more advanced than I am used to, but I enjoyed learning as I was reading. Balk is a favorite work that I learned. The Daddy character checks all the boxes possessive, insightful, caring, and very alluring. Basically, it's very similar to the Dom of my dreams.
Roman owns Surrender with help. He is a strict Dom. He sees Lucy Neil and he knows she is his one. He gets her investigated to see what she is like. Lucy is alone in the world barely making it. She gets to go Surrender them free for six time to see how it is. She sees Master Roman and she can't get him out of mind but know he is out of her league. He gets her fired and she puts in application to be his assistant and gets the job. He convince her to be his little
