In this Haunting by the Sea Novella, it's Christmas in Cutter's Cove and the town is all decked out for the holiday. Amanda is out and about working on a photoshoot for a contest run by a popular magazine when she comes across the body of a young woman frozen in the snow. On the surface, the death looks to be an accidental overdose, but Amanda isn't buying it, so she, along with Trevor and Alyson, set out to discover what really happened.
Meanwhile, Donovan is concerned about the anonymous texts which have been sent to Amanda's phone, Mac is spending time with Ty, and a new puppy wanders into Amanda's life.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

It’s Christmastime in Cutter’s Cove and all the scenes sound amazing. While out looking to take some fabulous photo shots to submit to a magazine contest, Amanda and Trevor stumble across a body. This is a wonderfully descriptive book and makes me wish I lived in a place where it snows.
Christmas by the Sea is the sixth installment in Kathi Daley’s Haunting by the Sea series. The storyline in this complex two-hour mystery is well-plotted, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional. The mystery in this quick and easy read is interesting, with twists, turns, and red herrings to keep the reader engaged. Ms. Daley’s descriptive writing made me feel like I was there, enjoying all the holiday sights. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.
After spending ten years living in New York, Amanda Parker is back in Cutter’s Cove, Oregon. Amanda and her mother first moved to the small seaside community while in the Witness Protection Program. Amanda can see and hear ghosts who need her help crossing over, and her alter ego, Alyson, helps her. Amanda has reconnected with her best friends, Mackenzie “Mac” Reynolds, and Trevor Johnson. Mac is building a relationship with her business partner, Ty Matthews, and Amanda and Trevor are both wondering if it’s time to take their friendship to the next level. Amanda recently received a disturbing text message, and her Witness Protection Program handler, Donovan, is monitoring the situation. Amanda’s mother, who’s visiting from New York, tells her about a photo contest, which she decides to enter, and Trevor agrees to help her as she looks for the perfect people and scenes to photograph. While at Doolie’s Farm, photographing families looking for their perfect Christmas tree, one of Amanda’s dogs, Tucker, leads her to the body of a young woman, who is identified as Holly Quinn. Once it’s determined that Holly’s death is most likely the result of foul play, Amanda and Trevor work closely with their friend, Officer Woody Baker, to identify the culprit.
This was a great Christmas mystery. Amanda and Trevor take things to the next level in their relationship, and everyone gears up for Christmas as soon as they solve a murder.
The latest “By The Sea” book by Kathi Daley is just as good as the 5 previous ones. Amanda has the ability to see and talk to ghosts, which allows her to help find out how they died. When foul play is the cause, she assists the police in solving the case and finding justice. She also helps the ghosts “move on” once they are finished with life, helped by her alter ego Alyson. The very busy Christmas season is tarnished by the death of a young woman whose body Amanda finds, and it takes her and her cohorts’ best efforts to solve the puzzling case of the girl in the snow wearing red high heels. An imaginative and intriguing story that keeps you guessing.
This series and the earlier series with the young Alyson are the best books I have ever read. They have lasting friendships, magical incidents, faithful animals, lots of adventure and intrique, as well as a loving and understanding mother, and much more. I skipped over this series several times because it was written for a teenage niece but finally decided to read it as there is no bad Kathi Daly books. I have side read both series 3 times. I only wish that there had been more. I loved all the characters and the plots kept you on the edge of your seats. Read these books! I know you love them as much as I did. By the way, I'm 68. Thank you Kathi
Christmas by the Sea is the sixth episode in the fantastic Haunting by the Sea paranormal mystery series. This book is filled with the elements of a cozy mystery including suspense, danger, romance, love, friends and family, and a sense of community. The story is filled with the sights, sounds, and smells of the Christmas season. As always, Mrs. Daley’s writing flows smoothly, and her setting and relatable characters make for an extremely enjoyable read. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Amanda and Trevor are getting closer and MAC is getting closer to Tye. Will they still be in Cutters Cove? Then Amanda enters a photo contest and during her runs around town for subjects she discovers a body while looks for a lost puppy. How did she die? Why did she die? No clear clues. Oh and Amanda has a stalker. Is it the crime group that she had to hide from before? All kinds of twists and turns and a little romance. Enjoy!
Amanda can see and communicate with ghosts. While she and Trevor are taking photographs on the mountain they find a puppy and it finds a shoe that leads them to the frozen body of a young woman. No ghost. It's only later when Amanda goes into the Santa House for pictures that she sees the ghost. With her help they solve the crime. Another great read from Kathi Daley.
Christmas in Cutter's Cove sounds amazing! Amanda and Trev are planning to enjoy the season when they find a body in the hills behind the Christmas tree farm where they have gone for Amanda to do some photography. With Alyson's help they must sort through witness statements, hunt down clues and uncover the truth from only a few suspects who seem to be lying. Plus the menacing texts that Amanda has been receiving is finally resolved. A satisfying ending to the series.
Christmas By The Sea was wonderful! I've always enjoyed this series, and the latest book is every bit as delightful as the others.
With suspense, romance and a fascinating mystery, this book has it all. The amazing winter images brought up in the descriptions will have you wanting to take the kids and go play in the snow.
Easy to read mystery with an easy flow. As they think and try to work all the angles on who killed Holly Trevor and Amanda stay busy trying to solve this murder. After she was dead Amanda was able to speak to her ghost but it was still confusing what really happened to her.
I love paranormal especially when it involves mediums. Kathii is really good at making the story more interesting. Characters likeable warm and engaging. The only draw back that I could see was the multiple story lines that were unrelated. Satisfying conclusion.
This is another winner. I love this series and this author. She writes wonderful characters and great storylines in every book. She has written over 100 books and 12 or 15 different series. I have read over 5 different series and close to 20 or 25 books. I highly recommend all her books and different series to everyone who loves i. Diana
I enjoy the intelligence this group displays. The police and the group work together to solve crimes. Woody is willing to use them as resources which is rare for police. He helps keep them out of danger by letting them help each other therefore they do not need to put their lives in danger. They can report to Woody and he can do the dangerous work.
Love all Kathi Daley books. She writes an interesting cozy mystery with engaging characters and delightful interactions. This series included a bit of the paranormal and this makes it so intriguing to read. I think once you try her books there will be no going back. Light, delightful and quick reads that keeps you entertained until the very end.
This book stunk. You find the body early. You travel all over taking pictures of the Christmas happenings for pages and pages. The dialogue is repetitive. The ending comes to0 quickly and makes no sense. Story could have been developed better, much better. This would have been better served if developed more or included in a collection of short stories. Skip this one. Don't waste your time.
The stalker and the dead woman are only related in that Amanda is trying to solve the mystery of both. She's also trying to figure out her relationship with Trevor. Another fascinating book from Kathi Daley.
Amanda and Trevor work to solve the mystery surrounding the body of a young woman that they found. They have to work around Christmas activities, a photo contest, and a mysterious stalker (or is she?). Lots of twists and red herrings, but they prevail in the end.
Ok only book six in this wonderful series by Kathi Daley who writes many of my favorite series and I can't wait till the next book if you love a great cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page then this series is a must read
Old familiar characters are getting together for the holidays. A body is found in the snow. So how did she get there? No spoilers. Get the book. Great read as usual!
I love this series... Kathi Daley always crafts a thoughtful and suspenseful story. Not only who killed the young woman found in the woods, inappropriately dressed for a snowy mountain trail. But why? And is Amanda in danger once again?
Love this series and this story. Filled with lots of twists and turns, suspense, romance, and great characters. As I was reading, I became totally immersed in the story. Kathi Daley sure does know how to write well-crafted cozy mystery stories
Enjoyable mystery.A body in the cold,a puppy lost, photo contest, small celebration makes for a good storry. Is the Italian gang from NYC after Allison again and why?Nice tale of friends moving on in their shared lives.
Sounds like this might be the final book in this series. It was a good read. Everything was wrapped up in this story from any back stories. All-in-all a fairly good series and a really clean read.
Surprising to meet a ghost at a Christmas event. This Haunting series has been fun to read! Amanda never knows how her adventures will turn out when she meets a new ghost but it certainly makes to difficult to put the book down.
Definitely love this series and characters that are interesting.I have been hooked on this series since I found it.This is worth reading and following.
