In Julie Erickson’s second adventure, preparations for the annual craft fair are underway when a mysterious old photograph surfaces. Taken thirty years ago on the local high school campus, copies have been anonymously sent to the people shown in the picture, a few of whom are Julie’s friends. It seems innocent enough until two of the recipients die under what Julie feels are suspicious circumstances. Suddenly she fears that the sender has a more ominous purpose in mind than a simple trip down memory lane. With the help of true crime writer Grant Phillips, Julie is in a race against time as she searches for the reason behind the sudden appearance of the photo and the identity of the sender before there are more victims.
Deadly Image, by Cristine Adams, kept me reading and guessing! I love the main character of Julie, a 40-something widow who solves mysteries. In the first book, Deadly Development, Julie is dealing with the sudden death of a spouse, a daughter heading to college and a murder mystery occurring in her community.
In Deadly Image, she has started making a new life and is ready to once again solve the mystery of the death of the town librarian and her stepbrother. The mystery was wonderfully complex and there were several red herrings. Romance plays a part in the story but it doesn't overwhelm the book. Grant Phillips is a true crime writer and Julie's partner in sleuthing & romance and their growing relationship enhances the book.
It's a book about a mature sleuth who doesn't run into danger and her life outside of sleuthing is interesting and easy to relate too. I'll definitely be back for the third book!
This is an excellent murder mystery! The journey to the end was methodical, detailed, and I never figured out who did it until it was revealed. Unique story, unique details about clues from the murderer which created a fascinating trail leading to the killer. A very exciting ending that had this reader on the edge of her seat! Well written and honestly I never found one editing error which is such a rarity these days which added to my reading enjoyment. The story has a dog that is a minor but nice part in the story which brings everyday normalcy to the story, it has community, it has romance. I hope to read more from this author. I am a very satisfied reader!
While Julie Erickson plans and prepares for the Craft fair at the The Rolling Hills Condominium Development a death happens in the community. Julie gets involved in the deaths when it is discovered that copies of a thirty year old photograph have been anonymously sent to the dead prior to their deaths and all of the people pictured in the photo. Julie is also in a new relationship with True Crime writer Grant Phillips. Book moves along and has honest real life feel with a touch of romance between Julie and Grant which is not over the top and the interactions with her dog and her friends. I did have the bad person figured out before it was revealed but I did not see how it would happen and when it did, it happens fast and scary. Great ending. Can't wait for the next book.
Had to read this follow-up right away and starting the third today! Great second book! You don’t need to have read the first one to enjoy this one, but you should as they are both so good!! Definitely recommended!
