All Life on Earth is going to be destroyed when it becomes an Adventure Park for Aliens. It's up to spiritual entrepreneur, Swami Rohnko, and his junior achievers to Save Absolutely Everything!
I live and write in New York City. I love the cacophony of so many different people living together, all of us mostly wanting it to work and revealing the human kindness and generosity of spirit just underneath. Amazing, exhausting and inspiring. It can be way too noisy and incredibly inconvenient at times, but every day there is a miracle if I only look and listen for it.
Thanks for checking me out. I really hope you enjoy the first M story. More to come.
This book is 'fluffy' without any real redeeming content which reminded me of a book version of a B science fiction movie - so perhaps it's intended as a tribute to those movies. A recent high school graduate who likes nothing more than his girlfriend and driving his GTO fast in the desert is startled to see a penguin with a remote in said desert one day. From there things get weird as he's led on a wild adventure featuring new friends, more penguins, large cats, swamis, and aliens. This book amused me which is why I gave it 3 stars.
So, first let me say, this book has an excellent cover. I loved this cover and that made me have to read the book. I regretted it almost immediately.
The second thing I should mention is the style. This book is going for something like Christopher Moore. I really am not a fan of Moore. So, if you are, then you might want to give this book a try. It should be stressed though, this is not as good as Moore, even for somebody who does not really care for him.
The story jumps around way too quickly. I couldn't even follow what was going on, and I read Philip K. Dick, so think about that. The jokes are lame. The characters are flat. So, yeah I pretty much hated it.
I received a copy of this book from Goodreads. The writing itself was fun, but the story just didn't hold my interest. I had to struggle through, and, had I not been laughing constantly at the prose and witty rhetoric, I am not sure I would have bothered. This is the only reason I gave this a middle of the road rating, as opposed to lower, because I did laugh, a lot. That made it worth it. Sorry, honestly, if this hadn't been a give away winner, I would have kept my opinion to myself.
