Review:
The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and she has a way of writing that makes me really feel like I am in Christmas River. I can picture everything very clearly in my mind and this helps pull me into the story even more.
The characters are well rounded and well developed. I love the relations between Cinnamon and her grandpa Warren. You can tell how much they love each other and how much richer their lives are because of the other. Warren is one of my all time cozy characters, so I was really happy that he was in this book quite a bit.
The mystery was well plotted and moved along at a good pace. There were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider. The ending was a surprise to me and I really enjoyed that.
I know when I read a book in this series, I am in for a great feel good book. I love this series and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery.
This book is not a installment of the Christmas River series but a prequel to the series and it takes place a year before the events of the Murder in Christmas River. It is recommended to read the series before you read this one. As a fan of this series I was really looking forward to this book. I enjoyed learning about Cinnamon's year before Daniel, how her store became so successful and meeting some of the other residents of Christmas River. I'm also glad we got to "solve" a little mystery in this book as well. If you are a Christmas River fan I am pretty sure you will enjoy it very much. If you are new to this series grab the first book - Murder in Christmas River, a cup of hot chocolate, a slice of pie and let the author take you on a wonderful journey to a small mountain town. You will not be disappointed!

This is a great book. The mystery kept me guessing. I enjoyed all the main characters. The interactions between Cinnamon and her grandpa are fun and also sweet. There’s some humor and suspense as well as romance. Cinnamon and her best friend have some great moments as well. The prequel was fun to read as it gave us some good background to explain what happens in the future. Another five star story.
Love the characters! Meg writes about Christmas River so vividly I can picture myself walking down Main Street and eating pie in Cinnamon's shop. Fun fast moving story. A great way to spend an afternoon relaxing and enjoying a good book.
I liked this prequel. It was interesting to get a look into Cinnamon's life before Daniel and Huckleberry. This story fits so well with the rest of the Christmas River stories.
I love Cen. And all the characters in Christmas River and I can't wait till the next book if you love a great cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page then this series by Meg Muldoon is a must read
I loved the book and can’t wait to read the rest of them. Meg is a great writer and keeps you interested all the way to the end. I’ve enjoyed reading her Christmas River books very much. Meg keeps you guessing all the way through her books.
While this book was somewhat short in length, it had a strong plot. The book takes place a year before the first book in the series. For this reader of the entire series thus far, it was an enjoyable step into the past.
I was looking forward to the continuation of Daniel and Cinnamon’s journey as well as her conversation with her father. A prequel seems strange at this point.
The perfect prequel. This book slid seamlessly into the series. The characters we live, but younger. So much on which to reflect as we know their future. I loved it
I'm not usually one for prequels, but this one caught me. The characters remain true to the rest of the books but with a certain relative youth. I enjoyed it!
Oh how I loved being back in Christmas River and loved hearing about Cinnamon's life before the first book! Looking forward to reading more in the series!
I was expecting a continuation from book 12 but this actually gave me insight into Cinnamon & her grandfather & even Daniel. Can’t wait to read book 14!
This was a wonderful way to learn about the characters past. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this prequel. It helps to understand the present for our characters.
