Although this story was only around 28 pages, Kasia once again managed to hit all the right notes in this short fantasy tale.

What happened when a dragon shifter got tipsy, then sensed his fated mate nearby? Well, said mate didn't get to finish his damn dinner, for one thing.

He also might have been called in to de-escalate the situation before everyone ended up in the shit with the big bosses.

This was such a fun story and seeing the distraught dragon immediately calm when his mate finally showed up, that was pretty damned adorable.

I especially enjoyed how Rago drunkenly communicated with Laan while shifted through words made of puffs of smoke, which was too cute for words.

Then the morning after sleeping it off contained a bit of steam, in case that's something that you're looking for.

Overall this was another fulfilling and enjoyable piece of The Order universe, and I personally cannot freaking wait for a full-length book from Kasia.

4.75 *wish-it-had-been-longer* stars.

"He's recognised his mate,they said"(...)

Well,this was a bit good.

But damn I wanted more.More of them having breakfast.More of the reactions from everyone else.More of the the start of their story.Just more of them. The day this Author writes a full length book will be a happy day because she can tell a story.I mean, seriously tell a story. How many Authors can write a short story and have you hanging on every word.

About 30 pages and just outstanding character development (and one was a dragon for half the story)

Fated mates+a tipsy dragon+a perfect sexual encounter+the promise of so much more.

Another brilliant addition to The Order Universe

It’s not easy for something be so exquisite and beautifully done when it’s only about 28 pages/less than an hour of a listen. I have told this time and time again but it’s much more difficult to write short stories because you have a very limited amount of words and everything needs to be precise and adequately described. And boy, did Miss Bacon nail it with this one.

I am not going to say what the story is about since it’s very short and I do not want to spoil any brilliance of this exquisite bite-sized snack. Rather, I’d say what this story makes me feel. Rago is whimsical, magical, beautiful and it makes you believe in destiny and true love. It was funny, romantic, hopeful and enthralling at the same time too. I really couldn’t get enough of Laahn and Rago. And I really hope this isn’t the end of the journey for these two because I certainly want to see more of these two. Michael Fox is definitely the right narrator for this book and I am really enamored with his performance in this one. Overall, this is perfect for you whenever you are in a mood for delightful little listen with some yummy macaroons and a heartwarming cup of Joe.

I want more.

Originally read Dec 2019

Happy birthday to me! This little bad boy popped up in my email this morning. Thanks Kasia!

This was a sweet little read with a sexy dragon discovering his mate and a man who wasn't looking but found what he needed.

It had some humor...
"My father warned me the first three months of mating can be taxing. But he also said that shagging twice a day keeps the healer at bay.” “Oh yeah? Mine just taught me not to eat yellow snow,”

And some sweet and sexy moments...
"Perfect. Beautiful. Mine" ~Rago

“Strip me. I want to feel you. I want to feel everything.”~Laahan

I've said it with every book, Kasia Bacon has a way that draws you in and captivates you from the get go. She says in the beginning she is a sucker for fated mate stories and so am I.

My only complaint? I want more as I always do.

Dear Ms. Bacon,

Though this features an absolutely lovely dragon and sweetly incorporates the mate trope in my favorite fantasy world, could you pretty please put a super speedy rush on finishing all the stories you’ve got going? I’ve read everything of yours now and am at a loss as to what to do.. Wah!

Sincerely,
A Devoted Fan

Rago is another pain-in-my-arse, soooo good but too damn short-short, by tease-master Kasia Bacon.

At only 28 pages in length, I knew what I was getting here… or what I wasn’t getting, as the case may be. But I hear the words dragon-shifter and fated mates and I’m all in, no questions asked.

This adds nicely to Bacon’s now extensive collection of stories set in The Order Universe, while still remaining a stand-alone story in its own right.

The world building, featuring military heroes that include elves, shifters and humans alike, is still as captivating as ever, always giving just enough to keep the reader immersed in a vivid fantasy setting without ever getting over-exhaustive in the details (like so many high fantasy stories tend to do).

The writing is on point, but I’ll be damned if I don’t still get miffed every time these stories end right when I’m really getting into them.

As I said, Bacon is the master of tease—which shits me as much as it impresses me, I won’t lie. 😂

Rago

I love dragons. I’m a huge fan of this author and fated mates s just the icing on the cake.

So seriously this was always going to be a win for me.

And it was. It’s another fabulous read.
It always amazes me how with so few pages this author creates something special every time. A story with depth. Characters to really care about. And humour. Don’t forget the humour.

I’m left wondering what she could do with more pages. A full length book would be amazing and something to really get lost in.

This is my stand out line from this book.

“Only not anymore, it appeared. Because there I went, dreaming up a headful of filth and hosting a village fair in my trousers every time I’d caught a glimpse of Sergeant Eerik bending down or flexing his arms.”

I just don't know how she does it. I've called her my Queen of the Fantasy Short Story before but I think I'm just gonna start calling her My Queen full stop.

This is an absolute gem of a novella. It manages to pack in a wealth of feeling, of setting, of world-building, of character depth and detail in so few words that I am in awe of it.

Laahn and Rago are just delicious, it's funny, it's sweet, it's got a gloriously sexy love scene which brings all the feels and I want more!

If you love fated mates, tipsy dragons, cautiously shy army officers and a festive bite of romance, then this is the one for you.

This short story was SO engaging! The world building was awesome! I mean, we get a dragon shifter!!!

The main characters are: Lieutenant Laahn Ĉortez and Rago - the puffing dragon.

As in all the other books I've read by Kasia Bacon, here I've enjoyed not only the writing, but also the uniqueness and sweetness of the characters!!

I'm looking forward to reading more from this wonderful author!!

Kasia Bacon had me at "dragon shifter". I have a HUGE dragon shifter fetish, so how could I pass this story up? HOW? That's right, it was a must read and, as usual, Kasia Bacon blows it out of the water park. Fated Mates stories are so delicious, and Rago is like a favorite snack.

"...shagging twice a day keeps the healer at bay."

Lieutenant Ĉortez is sitting down to a long overdue meal, when a ruckus and a nervous Quartermaster prompts him to head to the fencing hall to calm down a dragon, of all things. Finding out that dragon is none other than Sergeant Eerik, whom Ĉortez had been regularly fantasizing about wasn't awkward in the least.

Sergeant Eerik got a little too tipsy while his dragon sensed his mate nearby and...well...let's just say his dragon decided he'd waited long enough and wasn't about to wait one moment longer. There are some things you just don't want to argue with, and an agitated dragon is one of those things.

I was charmed by our dragon, almost as much as Lieutenant Ĉortez was.

Rago is magic. Pure magic. Fated mates and dragon shifters set in the author's gorgeous Order Universe. Every nibble we get of this universe is so well drawn, it's hard to believe the stories are so short!

Well, wasn't this a lunch time feast of utter deliciousness! I loved the book when I read it, I've said before ... no-one nails the shorties quite like Kasia Bacon does. Whilst she always leaves me wanting more, the more I want is just because I'm greedy and will never get enough of her story-telling. She always manages to squeeze such perfect character and world building along with a great story into so few pages, and she does this consistently. Every single time, without fail. (I'm repeating what I said in my original review of the book because it bears repeating).

The story is all very insta, but that's how I want it to happen between fated mates. Wham, bam, thank you sir and his dragon!

Michael Fox has done a terrific job with the narration of the whole series so far. I could listen to this bloke for days.

Adorable fated mates!

Sweet and angst-free fated mates story. We see the two meet, sleep, and saucily wake each other up in the morn. Total standalone and perfect for a lunchtime treat!

My rec: sure! Why not? It’s only 42 pages with a bit of steam for draconian fun!

As someone just starting to dip into Kasia Bacon's Order Universe, this author has completely captivated me with her creative fantasy stories. Stunning descriptions of the physical combined with sensual and erotic romance, make even the shortest stories come to life in the most enjoyable way.

The audio version of Rago is performed by Michael Fox. A marvelous fit for these characters, Mr. Fox's smooth, rich voice captures every bit of emotion and makes the most of Ms. Bacon's clever sense of humor.

I hope every one of Kasia Bacon's books come out in audio sooner rather than later, but in the meantime I'm jumping in with both feet!

Lovely as always. Captivating and entertaining.

Kasia Bacon charms with yet another story from the Order universe. I loved the idea of the dragon shifter and the connection of fated mates.

Shame that this one is particularly short (hence the lower rating). I could have easily read a trilogy about these two!

A dragon shifter and his fated mate find each other and the dragon's reaction is something else!

Rago is a standalone short story set in the magical world that Kasia Bacon has created for her characters.

The gorgeous cover just invites you to see what hides behind it and the story inside doesn't disappoint.

I wouldn't say no to a few more pages chapters of this story and that's my only niggle.

On paper, this short story should have been perfect for me. In reality, it was too insta-everything (by the way, for it to be considered a defining aspect of a story, forced proximity should last more than half a minute) and I didn’t feel the chemistry between the MCs.
On the plus side, the shifter part was well done and Rago showing off for his mate while in dragon form was cute.

A drunk dragon shifter causing chaos.
Mate revelations.
A satisfying morning after.
A seemingly bright future on the horizon.
All things that make this short worth a read.

This author just knows how to put enough in a short amount of pages that keeps a reader satisfied yet has them yearning for more lol.

5 sweet, drunk dragon stars! :)

Kasia really knows how to deliver, even in such a short story :)

Rago has just enough character building (even in less than 20 p!) to like both MCs and there's sexy time aplenty ;)

Both Rago, the dragon-shifter Sergeant, and Laahn, the army Lieutenant, are adorable and I simply loved their 'romp in the fencing hall'. Even in such a short read we can see the protectiveness, jealousy and all the warm feelings growing between those two and it's hard not to smile all the time on the way of their night together.

Beautifully written!

Highly recommended to all The Order Series fans!

really great for such a short thing and whets the appetite for more of this world that kasia bacon has created. interesting characters and really beautifully written.

I went, dreaming up a headful of filth and hosting a village fair in my trousers every time I’d caught a glimpse of Sergeant Eerik bending down or flexing his arms.   😳😳😳

The dragon purred, leaning into my palm ever so slightly and lowering his eyelids, an explicit request for more. 🥰🥰🥰

Anyone who knows me knows my two favorite things are dragon shifters and fated mates stories. Since the author knows me and adores me, I'm pretty sure she wrote this just for me. (seems legit to me 😀)

This is a short story about a shifter who finds his mate when he least expects it. The story was a bit funny, a bit sweet and a lot entertaining.

I love how much story this author is always able to pack in to her short tales. I highly recommend this and all of her other stories also.

Omg.... this little nugget was way way way too short. How does Kasia Bacon do it? Suck you in with so few words! 🙌🙌🙌

I wish it were longer. I wish we learned more about dragon shifters. I wish we learned more about where they both were and what were they doing there??? I want more!!
