जीवन की घटनाएँ विचित्र रूप ले रही थीं । तीन दिन पहले वह रूपिंदर-सुरिंदर का पंजाबी मुंडा था । बीस दिन पहले वह त्रिवेदीजी -सुमन का इकलौता बेटा था । लक्ष्मीपुत्र था । भारतीय था । आज वह भारत का भी नहीं है । इस भूमि का, इस देश का, इस संस्कृति का नहीं है । अब वह अमेरिकी है!

About the author

Sudha Murty was born in 1950 in Shiggaon in north Karnataka. She did her MTech in computer science, and is now the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation. A prolific writer in English and Kannada, she has written nine novels, four technical books, three travelogues, one collection of short stories, three collections of non-fiction pieces and two books for children.

Her books have been translated into all the major Indian languages and have sold over three lakh copies around the country. She was the recipient of the R.K. Narayan's Award for Literature and the Padma Shri in 2006.

Bad translation

Stories are good but translation is bad and it is so bad that at some places you lost the plot and didn't understand what is being said in the story.

ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಸುಧಾಮೂರ್ತಿಯವರ 'ತುಮುಲ' ಕಾದಂಬರಿ ಬಹಳ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿ ಓದಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಕಥೆ ಒಂದು ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತು ಅನ್ನುವಾಗ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುವೊಂದು ಮೂಡಿ ಕಥೆ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಮಗ್ಗುಲಿಗೆ ಹೊರಳುತ್ತದೆ.
