When tragedy took away everything she loved, Mika Westbrooke hardened her heart and focused her energy on defeating her clan’s enemies. However, when a charming Cajun worms his way into the New York clan, her instincts and her wolf go haywire and she suspects that he may be the one fate intended for her--her True Mate. But Mika doesn't want a mate or to love again. But he can give her one thing she does want … a child of her own, to love and cherish and fill in the void in her heart. One fateful night, Marc Delacroix calls in a favor from one of the most powerful Betas in the world, and finally escapes the nightmare he’s been living for decades. All he has to do now is keep his head down and serve the New York Lycan clan for the next five years then he can be truly free to live his life. But he didn’t expect to meet Mika Westbrooke or that his inner wolf would be so fixed on the green-eyed beauty. He knows he needs to focus on his goal, but Mika’s proving to be a distraction--an alluring one, but a distraction nonetheless. Then she gives him an offer he can’t refuse … one night with her sweet body, in exchange for giving her the pup she desperately wants. They strike a bargain, but keeping things casual is harder than they think, and when someone tries to hurt Mika, his protective instincts kick in. Are the mages out to kill her or is it Delacroix’s past, coming back to haunt him? Find out by downloading this sexy paranormal shifter romance! This is a full-length werewolf paranormal romance with explicit love scenes, naughty language, and shifter suspense action with guaranteed HEA, no cheating and no cliffhangers! Although it works as a standalone romance story, this book takes place in the True Mates series. Though not necessary, I recommend you read the rest of the books to understand the world and the main plot. If you’re a fan of JR Ward, Nalini Singh, Zoe Chant, and other fabulous PNR shifter books, you’ll love the True Mates Generation series! Get them all And to start from the beginning, get the original True Mates
The fight against mages grows in each book in this series, as well as the number of characters and family members! So much to keep track of, and I admire the people who figure things out ahead of time or remember all the details for future books. That so isn't me but I love the journey and am always surprised. Another thing, if you're like me, meaning not usually a big reader of paranormal and shifter stuff, Alicia Montgomery writes such good stories that it doesn't matter what you normally read. They're just that good, and interesting.
Anyways....I didn't necessarily like Mika at first. I actually didn't love how either her or Delacroix treated one another. And she seemed kind of emotionally shut off, though I understand why. And he was like pushy and cocky! They grew on me while they grew on one another, I guess. By the end I loved the way they treated each other like a team, and with respect and devotion. My favorite parts of this book happened in the second half, where the action really hits and where we find out more about Delacroix and his past. Now of course I'm so ready for the next story. PS I don't really recommend reading this before the rest of the series. You'd miss so much!
Loved the character of Delacroix since he was first introduced, cocky , lighthearted, ladies man, who flirts and gives those drop dead gorgeous eyes a workout at every chance. But did I get a shock , the guys even better, he’s damaged and in need of love too , my hands up.
His mate and chosen lady is Mika . Cousin to Lukas the Alpha, and you can bet they are all out to protect her from the player who seems to be obsessed with her. But there is more than one secret to be told in this book , so get reading.
I love this series. It’s passionate, Intense, intriguing, the characters have chemistry that’s off the charts and enjoyable to read, the backstory continues with the Mages , moving slowly, but getting there, more revelations to come too. You can’t ask for more , seriously wonderful stuff.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
Marc & Mika meet & sparks fly! He is immediately attracted to her, and she fights the attraction, and still feels she cannot let go of her late husband. While they are both wolves, Mark is also a mage, and the battle with the mages is becoming more intense!
Revelations are made & family strengthened and Marc is nothing if not persistent!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book & loved it- & have read others in this great series!!!
While you could read this as a stand alone- I wouldn’t. I would have to read it, where it takes place in the series as each book ties into a previous one. There may be spoilers from previous books, #sorrynotsorry, consider yourself warned.
The mages have upped their game, and so must the New York Clan. To do so a task force is formed with Mika at the head. All hands are on deck so Jacob and Marc are called home from Zhobghadi. Not that it was really a home to Marc-he had just recently transferred from a Louisiana clan before being sent to guard Queen DeeDee.
Mika was my second favorite character throughout the spin off (DeeDee being first) so when I realized this one would be about her- I had to jump for joy. She is type A personality with a tad bit of attitude mixed in. Mika had something tragic happen to her a few years ago, which makes her closed off to outsiders. It is totally understandable, yet one can’t help but wonder if it is just a front. I love how she is not afraid to go after what she wants though. Girl has enough guts to initiate that kinda conversation is #goals. Not only that but Mika can go on the defense for just about anyone in a nano second- love how strong she is. Not sure I would have her strength.
He has had a crappy hand dealt to him. His upbringing, well lets just say it wasn't the best. Marc is flirty, full of himself and I know it’s just a front (no wondering here ya’ll). He is well, charming. That is all. Others will say cocky, bold, a little to strong coming on to Mika. Nah, he charmed her butt good! The book goes deeper into his background, and life before transferring to the New York Clan. I gotta say I loved it! Where the story took us, dang. Hold on to your hats y'all it's about to get bumpy.
I like their story- True Mates, yes, insta-lust, yes, insta-love no. That my friends makes for a good read. There is action, a common enemy and mystery-who really is trying to kill Mika? Is it because of her connection to the New York Clan or is it something more?
That ending though! Holy cow! SO much was revealed! So much was left to ask! Is he? Did he? Will he? What the what were all the reactions I had. Which should tell you something since this one did not end on a technical cliff hanger.
My Rating 4 out of five stars
Favorite Quote “My personal life is not up to discussion. Now if you’d like to discuss who tried to end my actual life, then I’d be willing to talk.”
I didn’t know what to expect from this book I really didn’t I’m not a fan of any kind of genre of having one of the main characters having a deceased husband or wife it just never been one of my fave things to read about if it has a backstory in this I stay away from them and don’t read them no matter if it’s one of my favorite authors. When I started reading it and I saw that it was going to be about that to tell you the truth I wasn’t going to read it I but I was like o well let’s just read it and get it over with. So I read it all the way I didn’t really read much into it when it came to Mika and her husband like I said I’m not really into books like that so sorry but I skipped those chapters and I just read from her start of relationship I guess with Marc there relationship grew from just being with each other one night.
I liked Marc a lot it was interesting getting to see all these new characters with different gifts quite interesting I’m always one for liking strong women and all that but I wasn’t feeling mika at all I didn’t like her or her character idk she just didn’t do it for me julianna I loved her but not mika even Isabelle I liked even though in the beginning I didn’t like her because I thought she was a stuck person but anyways yea mika didn’t do it for me it just felt like she was out of place during the whole book her feelings, emotions, her anger everything she felt to me like a hot mess she didn’t know what to did with her relationship or feelings toward Marc or anything really she just idk was a mess completely I’m glad Marc met more of his family and finally knew were he came from and what happened to his family he got put end to his past. I really want to know what happened to Isabelle and for sure Cross and also know more about Lizzie and Wyatt.
Oh.My.Goodness!!! I absolutely LOVED this book! I don't know where to begin...
Marc Delacroix... handsome, cocky...full of s#!t. He wants people to believe that he's a manwh0re...that he had no real connections and that he desires none. His ultimate plan is to fulfill his 5-year duty to the NY Clan (which he agreed to in exchange for his transfer from his old clan back in Louisiana) and then go Lone Wolf. But the best laid plans of mice and men...and wolves...often go awry..
Mika Westbrook is the daughter of Alex and Alynna Westbrooke--the first True Mate pair in decades (making Mika the first baby born to True Mates of this generation). Mika is recently widowed (I think it's been 3 years); she doesn't see herself as being ready to move on, but she wants a baby more than anything. The only way to guarantee it! Find...or be found by...her True Mate.
I'll give you one guess as to who her True Mate is?
Watching the relationship between Mika and Delacroix unfold is so very entertaining! (Have you ever found yourself drawn to someone you can't stand? Yeah...That.Kinda enemies-to-lovers...but it seems so much better.)
There are secrets that need to be uncovered, as well...Who IS Marc Delacroix? Where does he come from? And why was he warned to stay out of the swamps of the bayou? What are the mages up to and how are they getting people to fund their villainy?
Last, but certainly not least, what is Cross up to? He's hiding something serious and dangerous...
And I have to wait 4 more days to find out what it is! (And I'm squealing in my head like the fangirl I am...😍)
I really enjoyed this story! I loved both Mika and Marc. We have seen Marc more in this series, last book especially, so I was already very intrigued to learn more about him. He has been through a hell of a lot and all he wants is freedom. He doesn't want to feel or be used anymore. He is tired of all the fighting. When you learn about his childhood and the pack he was with before, his attitude makes complete sense. Mika has thrown herself into work. The war with the mages has ramped up but she is trying to avoid other things. She lost her (human) husband and while she is better, she is still processing and trying to move on from it. Marc and Mika immediately feel that spark but Marc has no idea what True Mates mean. He has to try and ask some questions and put together the bits and pieces that he has gotten along with what he is feeling. Mika wants a child and Marc reaches the point where he agrees to her terms of one night only. I really enjoyed the way that Marc worked with Mika. He knew she was gun shy, no idea why but he didn't push her further than she could go, at any point in time. I loved the way that Marc took care of Mika as well. He never gave up and he pushed to form the relationship within reason. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am really excited to get into the rest of the GI unit and figure out what is going on with other characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
What a wonderful in-depth story. Your immediately drawn into the family, it's intense and very thorough, lots of information and explanations. Marc is brought back to New York from his job as bodyguard to the queen and her son. He still planning to give his five years of service to the New York alpha and then leave to go lone wolf. Mika has been promoted and now runs operation to infiltrate and rid themselves of mages. Still in mourning over the tragic death of her husband two years ago, she's thrown herself into her work while distancing herself from her family. Fate is at work and has thrown these two together, true mates, neither wants it Marc doesn't even know about them but can't understand his feelings, Mila not wanting to move on isn't accepting it, but has decided she wants a baby. She explains true mates to Marc and says they once need to come together once I order to make a baby. Marc agrees but demands all night with Mika and she says no kissing. The next day Mika leaves for Russia to work on alliances. Once she returns and on that very day she's shot but since her pregnancy protects her the bullet goes through her and hits Marc. That begins all the mysteries, fact finding and fighting. Secrets are revealed and relationships are developed. It was quite the page turner, but in the end absolutely uplifting a true happily ever after well kinda.
Wow! I loved this twist on the True Mates phenomenon!
After the death of her beloved husband, Mika is not looking for true love again. But she would love to have a child of her own. So when she runs into the one man she absolutely does NOT want but who just happens to be her True Mate, she wrestles with the knowledge that he's the only one who can give her what she wants. The problem is, how does she get the baby without keeping the mate?
Marc is a recent transplant to New York, and he has no interest in sacrificing for their war against the Mages. He's just there to repay Vrost for getting him out of his former clan, then he's moving on to where he only has to worry about himself. He has no knowledge of the True Mates phenomenon, what it means for him or for his mate, or how it's going to change the entire trajectory of his life.
I loved all the layers of history wrapped up in this beautiful story. Both Mika and Marc have a lot of baggage they need to sort through before they can figure out how to be there for each other, but in the meantime the scintillating (almost) hate sex keeps the romance going. All of the True Mates books have so much more going on than just the main romance, and I love the way that each book expands the fictional world and enriches the entire fundamental history at the same time.
As always, we get a beautiful HEA for the couple, significant development of the ongoing story arc, and a teasing glimpse into the next installment of this enthralling series. This is my favorite shifter series of all time, and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is a spellbinding series! Marc Delacroix sparked my interest from the first book he was introduced in. He puts on airs that he is a player and not much matters to him, but that just isn't true. Mika Westbrooke is still mourning her husband's death and hasn't let anyone get close since his passing. She is not impressed when she first meets Marc, but their chemistry is off the charts. Their first meeting had Marc wanting to get to know her and she wanted to get away from him. The mages are still up to their attacks on Lucas and Adrianna Anderson, the Alphas of New York and New Jersey, respectively. With the attacks more frequent and targeting their children everyone is on high alert. Marc and Mika get together in an unorthodox manner. There will be several interesting discoveries and answers to questions for us as readers as well as Marc and his family. This is one heck of a series and I love every one of these books. Each book could stand on it's own, but there is so much added when read in order. Don't miss a heart stopping adventure that will make your heart pound and swell with love for these characters.
Mika is Alynna and Alex's oldest child, the first child of a true mating in decades. But she has been suffering for the last 2 years after losing her husband in a car accident. He was human and he died in impact while she healed due to her Lycan abilities.
Marc Delacroix is a transplant from a Louisiana clan. He was told that he was abandoned and the Alpha there used his powers for bad. Nick Vrost owed him a favor and he called it in. He's only serving the clan for 5 years, then he plans to become a lone wolf.
When he starts working in the new Guardian Group formed to take down the mages, he meets Mika for the first time and his wolf goes crazy. She doesn't want a relationship, but she does want a baby. Knowing that he's her true mate, she knows it's a guarantee. So they make rules for only 1 night together and then she's called to Russia for 3 months.
In that time, Marc has a change of heart. He wants Mika and their pup, but he has to break down her walls to make her see him.
When their enemies attack again, Marc finds his real family and they join the fight against the mages.
Delacroix and Mika 😍 Since the first generation, the first book, where it all began with Alex and Alynna, I have been waiting for this. Mika was the first born of a true mate pairing and I desperately needed to see her get her HEA. Mika is a tough cookie. She’s been through some stuff, suffered a great loss that some can’t recover from and it sort of seems that she’s hanging on by a thread. She doesn’t believe that she’s ever going to be as happy as she once was. Here enters Delacroix, and let me tell you it is not love at first sight. Neither of them will allow themselves that. Delacroix has also been handed a bad hand and suffers because of it. In the end they discover that they can be happy together and it’s truly magical 🥰 I truly recommend this book. The build up of something wicked has me coming back for more. I need more true mates and I need them to destroy the evil for good, but before that happens I would like lots more love stories, I’m sappy like that.
Mika and Marc I have just finished Shadow Wolf ARC book. Wow!!! I was sitting on the edge of my seat! I love it! Was totally in to it! Mika is Alex and Alynna’s child. If you haven’t read any of the True Mate series, you are missing out! The first book is about Alex and Alynna. This is where you learn what a true mate means. Mika has been married before and is still mourning the loss of her husband. When she meets Marc she realizes he can give her a child. So a deal is made for one night together. That didn’t work for either one but there were so many factors at work, it takes them a while to find themselves. Marc is a puzzle that finally begins to come together. His family brings an added dimension to the fight against the mages. You’ll have to read the book to find out how all the pieces are fitting together. Bring on the next one, Please!! ( I volunteered to read an advanced review copy of this book and was not obligated to leave a review) but I was glad to!
This is the story of Delacroix and Mika. He is an enigma , he has the gift of hiding in the shadows which was useful in DeeDees book. Mika is the eldest daughter of the first True Mates pairing Alex and Allyna. I found this easy to read but I found myself at the end with lots of questions about their story which had never been the case before. For example: Mika and her marriage and why did she think she could have a baby and then think she could use the True Mate pairing for that reason only. She grew up around True Mate pairings why was she in denial. There is no doubt that their chemistry is off the charts hot. They make a great pairing.Mark, we find out a lot about him ( he’s a flirt but never more , why is that?) Towards the end of the story, we meet his family which will be an exciting new layer to the books but I felt this could have happened earlier. There is a great twist , opening to the new book at the end which was amazing. I can not wait and I hope we still get to hear more about Mika and Delacroix and their relationship and in their job roles in future stories.
The story is about two people who have had a piece of their life stolen away... For Marc its his parents and family and for Mika its her husband who she loved... When they find each other neither is ready of looking for and attachment let alone love. But they strike a deal that leads to Love eventually. Mika gets a baby, and Marc finds his family but first they have fall in love. There are a few action sections but in some ways they felt like they were just there to spice up the story... Like when she gets shot and he also ends up with a bullet in him.... Seems strange his wolf pack would try to kill him with a bullet surely they know he'll heal. Then when they finally turn up again at the carnival trying to use a random female seems like a long shot and of course they get captured... The action in the swamp was pretty awesome because it includes lots of interesting answers to why and Marc learns about his parents... Its a good story.
Marc is a wolf with the ability to disappear into the shadows. He is trying to escape his past by serving the Alpha of the New York Clan. He has no knowledge of true mates so doesn’t recognise that his new boss Mika is his. Having loved and lost, all Mika wants from Marc is a baby. They thought they could achieve this and walk away from each other, not once accounting for the power and need that comes with a true mate bond. Time away from each other does not change their need, and there’s only so much time that they can deny their feelings. Will their bond be strong enough to survive when danger comes calling? Not only did parts of this story make me chuckle, I also fell in love with Marc as he tried his best to win Mika over. With plenty of drama and emotion in this story this is one true mates tale not to be missed.
We are now seven books into the "True Mates Generations" series. Each story continues to build the basic story-arc trying them together. For those new to this series, this is a spin-off and in my opinion you really should read the original series before this one. This story revolves around the daughter of the couple from book one in the original. Why is this an important tidbit? That story explains the whole "True Mates" concept. Now, about Mika and Marc. Both of these characters are a little hard to take in the beginning. Issues in their past have molded them into the people they are. Will they overcome those issues or will a "True Mating" actually be wrong? Ready for the next story....whoever that one may be about.
"I read an advanced copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing."
To start, I loved Marc. He was everything a reluctant hero should be... badass, sexy, clever, and broken. He had captured my attention from previous stories, and I was SO excited to learn more about him. That said, I just never connected with Mika.
SPOILERS
I get that she had a sad past, but it doesn’t give her the right to be so judgmental and rude to Marc. She never lets him speak his piece (at least not til the end), isn’t willing to spend time with him, and is a total coward by always running away. As a woman who holds the badass position she does, I feel like her reactions to him were inconsistent with how the author tried to portray her. Also, it irritated me that she’d forsaken her true mate by marrying someone else, and then won’t give HER PERFECT MATCH a chance when she meets him. 😒
Wow. I loved this book in this series. I always wondered about Delacroix and what he may be. Mika is with the GI unit and needs everyone trained in case of the mages. What she doesn't expect is to find her true mate.......Delacroix. But she has had enough pain and she only wants a child to love after losing her husband 2 years ago. Mika goes missing for three months to Russia but is soon home and then her secret is out. An assassin tries to shoot Mika but it may be Delacroix's life on the line. He gets a suprise when he goes to find his old alpha and realises his life wasn't all it was and should of been. A great book and after the little teaser at the back about Cross boy are we in for some fun times. I can't wait. As usual a great book in the series, with some of the old characters and some new and boy the plots.
Title: Shadow Wolf Series: True Mates Generations #7 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Alicia Montgomery Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Serial: Standalone, No Cliffhanger Genre:#PRN #WolfShifters 5Stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ •••••••••••••• 💢 Oh wow this book is epic. With a blood thirsty Alpha and a lot of Action. Definitely a Must Read!
🔹️ Marc Delacroix is WolfShifter Shadow-man he can charm any women. Marc is working for Guardian Initiative in there secret headquarters where he run into his True Mate, Mika Westbrooke who is also a WolfShifter, she has a lot of baggage that she refuses to be with Marc. But she does have a proposition for him. {WOWZER CROSS is COMING #8}
☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books.
Mika Westbrooke is trying to continue life after her husband died. She regrets that they didn't have children. When she meets Marc Delacroix everything changes.
Marc Delacroix is summoned to NY. The lycans must prepare to face their enemies, the Mage. When he meets Mika, he realizes there's something totally different between them. He pursues her even though she's resisting their pull to one another
Mika and Marc soon discover they're True Mates. This story also explains a lot about Marc's history. You'll enjoy the fast paced action, plus watching the unwinding of their love story. I truly enjoyed this story! Can't wait for the next book.
I voluntarily received an ARC copy. I am so glad I did. This story delves into Mika and Marc’s lives. I love that we finally find out his background as well as hers. This book steps away from the mages a little bit. They are still present but Alicia Montgomery really lays the groundwork here for later books to get into solving the Mage issue.
I devoured this book in one sitting. It doesn’t lag/sag in spots. To the opposite, I felt it could have had a little more depth added to the 3 month “fast forward” part. And the cliff hanger nugget (NOT related to the HEA ending of our main characters) has me pining for the next book! Read it. You won’t regret it!
Loved it! I have been anxious to learn more about Delacroix since the moment he showed up. There was much more to him the I ever expected. Mika has closed herself off to love. But when she meets Marc, she soon realizes he is her True Mate. This changes things. Watching the relationship grow was wonderful. Once again, the story answers many questions, but raises new ones. The war with the mages is still going strong. Twists and turns and loads of action. This series just keeps getting better. Not a cliffhanger, but Ms. Montgomery dropped something huge at the end. The wait for the next book will be difficult. This is my honest opinion of an advanced copy I received.
I can never get enough of this series. It is so damn good. Just the right amount of mystery, fighting, romance and magic. Marc has a past he isn’t proud of and tries to keep it hidden. He believes he should be a lone wolf. He is a hybrid or part Lycan and part witch. Mika is a tough Lycan female that doesn’t need a man in her life. She had love once and lost him in a terrible accident. But she does want to have a child without the father. Things get interesting and dangerous as the story goes. The romance gets all tangled up and may never be fixed. Expect plenty of taking care of bad guys too.
So I wasn't so sure how I felt at the beginning of this book. It made me roll my eyes because I wanted to slap Mika! However once we got into the main plot of the story I was captivated! I absolutely love Marc! He is this perfect blend of dominance and patience! I come to appreciate Mika's stubborness at the end! I absolutely loved the ending! I think the way that Alicia Montgomery ties all the pieces together and answers our questions is great! And then she leaves us with that scene at the very end! Can't tell you or it will give to much away but.... ugh... need to go read the next book now!
I totally loved this book I was always intrigue about Delacroix from the previous book boy let me tell you that this book definitely doesn't disappoint. There was much more to him than I ever expected. Add in drama, twist and turn, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end and you have a helluva read. Looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Marc Delacroix is a wolf out of his element in the big city
but he would rather be here than back in the bayou
What's he running from?
Why did he leave?
And more important, *what* is he?
Wow!!!!What a great book!!! I so love this series i can truly keep reading it for ever ! Once more the author has given as an amazing book. A strong Alpha male and a strong Alpha female that together are to die for! I laughed so hard with these two! I also cried and got mad and went through a roller coaster of emotions! It's an amazing series!
I absolutely love these True Mate stories! Each one so cool...Marc Delacroix a Cajun wolf got out of a bad situation and came to the New York pack..now he just has to keep his head down and work off 5 years then he's going lone wolf. Mika is a New York pack member that went through a sad situation. When they meet she thinks she knows what Marc is, a playboy wolf! When they touch it's magic and she knows what he really is! But he knows nothing about true mates! It's good!! I definitely recommend these.
Ok. Let's try this again. This first review I freaking deleted by accident 😡😡. I'm not going to go in to a big to do with this review. I believe there were plenty of those for this book. I will tell you I absolutely loved this book. I've wanted Marc's story since we were first introduced to him. His ability of being able to move about in the shadows fascinated me. Both Marc and Mika have tragic past. I cried several times. Get ready for the rollercoaster ride for your emotions. I read an advanced copy of this book.
Shadow Wolf is the story of Mika Westbrooke and Marc Delacroix. The Cajun, Delacroix, made an appearance in the earlier published, Daughter of the Dragon. He's a bit of an enigma. He brings a new power or ability to the clan. He can hide in the shadows or as we learn "walk the dark trail." I enjoyed their story. Several new characters were added to the series. Most importantly a shocking, surprise arrives at the end of the book in order to set up a future story. I read an ARC and chose to leave a review.
