This final book in the series wrapped up years of wondering who would win the outcome between good and evil. This author had me questioning so many things we are told regarding religion, the devil and good vs. evil. I have followed these characters through each book. There has been heartbreak and hope. The climax of this book was very emotional for me and I am continually thinking about what I learned. This book definitely fits in with the times that humans are having. I took away from this book the ability to see things in a new light as well as to remember there is always hope, even at the darkest moments of life.
A brilliant read. The final book in the series and is just as good if not better than the first. Excellently written, with captivating characters, that have you drawn in from the very first book. You build up a sense empathy and feeling towards these characters, feeling the pain and sorrow, there highs and excitement. There losses hit you just the same, because you have been with them through it all. The non stop exorcism and fights with the devil. The battles all building to the main. And that is one battle that you held in the moment of it all, feeling and sensing it throughout the whole book. A brilliant series and a definite must for any reader. Thoroughly enjoyed.
What an absolutely brilliant series of books.Read them all books 1-8 in a week and a half, couldn't out them down. Read from 5am to 6:30am before going to work and 2-3 hours every night.Would recommend to anyone who enjoys paranormal with a bit of adventure.Just wish there was more to follow with Oscar coming back in future stories to help in some way, maybe as an Angel....Read and enjoy....I believe you will. Wow!!! What an ending !!! WHAT A SERIES !!!!!! Every book of this series was excellent !!! It’s up there next to my all time favourite books/series !!! Thank you, Rick Wood, for keeping me so well entertained.!!! I SUGGEST THAT The King Edward’s War series be read before reading this one, due to the numerous references made about it. But you don’t HAVE to !!!!
What can I say about this last book. The story was compelling and easy to read. I found it sad, happy and had me on the edge a few times. Even though I don't find the story scary I do find the good vs evil tail to be different enough from daily life but also similar to everyday living. The choices we make impact others and we need to be ready for those consequences (good or bad) before the action is made. Good ending.....
The war between Heaven and Hell is over, well it is for the moment, but it will erupt again when we least expect it to, so beware we can't allow Hell to be here on Earth. We will need more Sensitives who are strong to fight the next fight. We have to wonder if outbreaks of Ebola, Flu, Covid could be the start of the next epidemic we have to face Hell with, but are we ready?
Initially books about exorcisms didn't really appeal, as I'm not a horror fan. However I'm glad I gave them a chance. I finished the entire 8 books in a week. They are well written, and although each book has an individual story, they are all part of a bigger story arc, ending in book 8. Well worth the read!!
Certainly I hated how Oscar took so long to grow up. I read how he questioned everything and nothing seemed to make sense for him. But know I witnessed, finally, that he grew up and be an adult with confidence and conscience. This last chapter is certainly the perfect end to a great story.
I've read this entire series and I'm so sad this is the end. Amazing read, great story line, and definitely a book that's hard to put down. Thank you for an amazing series.
This book was a wonderful but sad end to a great series. All the characters were engaging and the story line unique and exciting. I loved the sensitives
A very emotional ride to the conclusion of the sensitives many lost their lives for the fight between good an devil! Oscars love for April to protect her he has to forget his fears and overcome them sad ending but goes to show the power of true love .Very powerful msg .Really great series .
I struggled between rating this a 2 star or 3 star for a few reasons. My initial thoughts on both this series and The Rogue Exorcist series was that if you like Supernatural, you'll like these two series... but the more I thought about it, the more I thought there were a few too many similarities. For instance the use of the "then and now" scenes. Things just started to feel a little too cheeky, if that makes sense. But I don't know if I would feel the same way if I hadn't read the whole series. After awhile things began to seem kind of canned.
What I enjoyed about the series: Two-sided characters... no one was all good or all bad. I liked that there were decisions made by characters that were actually surprises. Supernatural and paranormal without (really) religion bashing. These types of stories often really bash Catholicism, but even though these stories were critcal of the religion, they were definitely not bashing. And, come on, who doesn't love a good exorcist story? And when an author isn't afraid to kill off a character, regardless of the character's place in the story, I respect that. Rick Wood is imaginative and descriptive without being verbose (though some phrases were used too frequently for my taste).
I applaud Rick Wood for his accomplishments and overcoming what he has, and for the most part, I enjoyed his stories, but I'm not sure I'll read any more of his work.
I always look forward to Rick Wood's books and have read most of them. All his books are fast paced and enthralling. This was no exception. I loved the cover of the book and the cast of characters. The protagonists have to win the final battle against deadly entities. Will they win? Or is this battle as unwinnable as it appears to be? The ending is intriguing.
