Being back in small town Salvation is pretty much the last thing I wanted. Well, having my jerk of an ex-boyfriend publish naked photos of me to a revenge porn site is the absolute last thing, but ending up back in my small hometown humiliated and broke is definitely a strong number two.
Yet here I am.
And the only person less thrilled to see me back is my former hookup and now police chief Mateo Garcia. He thinks I’m nothing but trouble. I’m not saying he’s wrong, but there’s more to me than a few youthful misdemeanors. I’m going to prove just that to the town and the sexy, surly man who thinks there’s nothing to me but fluff—all without surrendering to the undeniable attraction to Mateo that makes me catch my breath every time him looks my way.
Trouble on Tap is the third book in the series. Even though I didn't read the first two books and I miss out the whole Sweet triplets history in Salvation Town, I can still very much enjoy the book as a standalone.
The thing that drew me to this story is the scarred war vet, Mateo Garcia. I just can't resist the little hint of B&B theme. He used to be a heartthrob and had casual flings with Olivia Sweet every time before he deploy. He called her his pre-deployment good-luck charm. However, things change after the incident that left his left face permanently scarred.
Olivia Sweet used to be a runway model, but due to her curves and all, she was forced to leave the modelling scene. After the whole fiasco with his douchebag ex-boyfriend, Olivia was forced to head back to Salvation to start a new life with her sisters. The last thing she expect is to see Mateo again.
Mateo who now is the local police chief, is also a miserable asshole. Not getting laid for three years can do that to a person. Poor guy. He acting all tough and couldn't care less, but he had turned into the town hermit living with a rescue mutt he refused to name. He also not appreciating the fact that Olivia is back in town to distract him to no end.
The man had gone from gregarious heartthrob to a man most likely to hit you with the gigantic chip on his shoulder.
Olivia is a very free-spirited heroine. She might seems all 'unicorns and rainbows and puffy pink clouds', but I actually like her 'devil-may-care' and bubbly attitude. She drives Mateo crazy with her shenanigans.
This small town romance reminds me very much of similar books by Kristin Higgins. Salvation Town basically come to live in my eyes with the nosy diner owner, the villainous mayor and the supportive Sweet sisters. There isn't any big drama, but Olivia determination to help restore her family name by organizing a fundraising and the brief reappearance of her ex provide enough of trouble to keep things interesting.
The only thing I wish could have been better is to really see Mateo and Olivia as a couple with all the lovey dovey stuff. I just feel the ending is too abrupt. I'm definitely craving more for these two.
I'm pigheaded, grouchy and I say the wrong things at the worst time. Basically, I'm an asshole - but I'm your asshole." ~ Mateo
4 - "The time for playing with zippers is over." Stars!
I absolutely loved the third book in the Sweet Salvation Brewery series. Olivia and Mateo’s story offered up everything I want to be reading in a book of this nature. Second chance love, built around a Beauty and the Beast kind of vibe, with a likeable couple set against a small-town backdrop with lots of recurring characters.
A few years have passed since Mateo and Olivia have seen each other, their parting of ways was not on a happy note. Both are back in Salvation, neither one too happy about the fact. Mateo as the towns Police Chief, is well regarded, a veteran, carrying more than a few visible and invisible scars from his time serving his country. Olivia; the only thing the town cares about is her surname - Sweet as such she is tarred with the decades old brush that her family name is synonymous with.
”No one knows more about sinning than a Sweet.”
Sure she’s known as the flighty one, being a former model and being the centre of more than a few scandals will do that to a girl’s reputation. So coming back to town in the hopes of changing that perception offer more than a little battle of the ’uphill’ type.
”You are nothing but trouble.” ”Maybe you need some of that in your life.”
Avery Flynn nailed this couple together perfectly, sexy with a little dirty, sassy and sarcastic together with a little vulnerability and emotion to back it up. Mateo I loved, Olivia was the kind of woman you’d want to be friends with. Their story and reconnection as lovers as a whole, not forgetting the inclusions of a three-legged cat, a homeless dog, and lots of escapades in-between was an enjoyable way to spend an evening.

Well this was my first book by Avery Flynn and it won't be my last! I'm definitely intrigued by this world and would love to read about the other Sweet sisters. This story had a nice mix of sexy and sweet with a whole lot of trouble mixed in. Plus, I loved the fact that it's not only a second chance (and a believeBle one at that!) but it's got some serious beauty and the beast vibes too. Lots of fun. I maybe would've liked it to be longer or with more depth in the relationship to get my rating higher. Overall, I thought it was good, not great. Can't wait to read the books for the other two Sweet triplets!
With a sexy couple and quirky townsfolk, Trouble on Tap is a great addition to the Sweet Salvation Brewery series. Mateo and Olivia have come across as a little less endearing in the previous books, however this wasn't the case when the focus lay on them.
"I'm just an asshole Marine...I'm not the kind of guy people like you should depend on."
Having grown up together and embarked on a friends-with-benefits relationship that suited them both due to their careers, Olivia and Mateo's last encounter doesn't hold fond memories. And when the former model's personal life implodes amidst scandal and she returns to Salvation, she's greeted by a grumpy Police Chief with a military career that has left him changed on the inside and out. But the fire and feelings still burn between them.
I loved the dynamic of this couple; strong yet vulnerable, both were loveable characters with depth. Avery Flynn has combined second chance love and best-friend's older brother with a feel of Beauty and the Beast bringing her reader a story that captivates. Well paced, it has a refreshing feel, is passionate, frustrating, sweet (no pun intended) and brought my type of dry humour. And with a lovely epilogue to wrap up the Sweet triplets' stories, it was a satisfying end which left me smiling.

When Avery Flynn decides to write the final book in a series she does it in style and as much as I enjoyed the other two books in the Sweet Salvation Brewery series, Trouble on Tap is my favorite by far. It is impossible not to smile as I think back on this story; these characters, their wild and crazy “relationship,” their menagerie of oddball pets; intrusive town’s people and one woman’s determination to make the world easier for the next generation of Sweets made this a simply outstanding addition to this series.
For years supermodel Olivia Sweet and Marine Mateo Garcia had an agreement; a friends with benefits arrangement that suited them both and one Mateo believed kept him out of harm’s way through every deployment until the night things changed in more ways than one. Three years later, they are both back “home,” Mateo scarred in more ways than one after a mission gone bad and Olivia having lost her job, her bank accounts, her home, and her a$$ of an ex-boyfriend all in one day; these two are less than friendly despite the fact that the attraction between them burns brighter than ever. Mateo is carrying around a huge chip on his shoulder and Olivia is bound and determined to change the way the town looks at her crazy family but working together might just kill them both…that’s if they can manage to keep their hands off each other.
First off let me just state that Avery Flynn sure knows how to grab an audience with her hot as hell first chapter. I could have used a pack of cigarettes after that one and I don’t even smoke! While Olivia and Mateo try to spend a good part of this book acting like the other means nothing to them or trading barbs back and forth it is so easy to see that they are still connected despite the way they ended things three years prior. I loved the interactions between them and the way Mateo tried to pretend he wanted nothing to do with Olivia but was there to protect or help her at every turn. Olivia impressed me with her spirit and gumption and the way she absolutely refused to let Mateo wallow in his own misery.
There is something special about couples who spar, hiss, fight but have such respect, admiration and love for one another and that describes Mateo and Olivia perfectly. Any writer who can produce a book that makes me laugh out loud so loudly I scare the birds, makes me sigh with its sweetness, leaves me wishing my partner was home for a quickie and yet can bring a tear to my eye…THAT is the sign of a remarkable book and author and that my friends is Trouble on Tap by author Avery Flynn. Well done!
This is a story about redemption, where a woman was fighting a bad reputation, a man was fighting guilt, and both fighting past mistakes between them. This could also be considered a version of Beauty and the Beast, with Olivia being the beauty, and Mateo being the Beast.
When I requested this book, I had no idea this was part of a series. While I missed on the stories of the previous Sweet sisters, Miranda and Nicole, I didn’t feel completely lost.
The connection between Olivia and Mateo was intense, just the mere touch sending both nearly over the edge. It hurt my heart how many times Mateo intentionally hurt Olivia. First he pushed her away, with the expectation that she’d come back to him, even with his harsh words. No bueno! Second, he seemed to take out his anger and guilt over an ACCIDENT on her.
Speaking of that war time ACCIDENT, let’s discuss, shall we? Throughout the book, he birates himself for what happened during the war, so I expected it to be bad. When I found out what really happened, I was pissed. How could he blame himself for that ACCIDENT (yes, I will continue to capitalize that because he clearly didn’t understand). Was he officially blamed for the accident? Did he get kicked out of the military? Did he go thru counseling? No idea. While the event was mentioned often, it was glossed over in my mind. And the guilt he had seemed unnecessary.
Then there is his appearance. Sure, he’s not perfect like he used to be. However, ignoring Olivia’s first reaction, which even she admitted was wrong, his appearance didn’t seem to bother her. It should have been obvious to him that she was still attracted to him. But he continually judges her and assumes how she’d react to him, merely because of her former modeling background.
I like the idea of Olivia and her family battling their reputations, with enemy #1 being the mayor. But while they seemed to have an uphill battle against them, the drama was resolved fairly quickly. This was a quick read and had the potential to be heavy on angst. While I’m not a huge fan of forced angst, I feel like some of Olivia’s personal issues, fighting her reputation as a wild child, could have been taken deeper.
Not a bad book, although I had trouble relating or form attachments to the Hero and Heroine, and found their action sometimes unnecessarily rude and thoughtless, I, did however, found the book enjoyable.
I did skim and skip a bit, but overall a decent read.
On a side note, I think the Sweet Sisters should have gotten out of their vindictive, rude, hostile small town and make it out there on their own. Although the town folks had changed their mind about the Sweets at the end, I still find the town small minded, closed-in and overly judgmental.

#COYER Summer 2015.
In Trouble on Tap we finally get to meet the third triplet, and the second chance trope that is prevalent made my heart happy.
This book counts towards the COYER scavenger hunt item #30: Read a book with more than 125 pages and less than 215 pages in its paperback format (2 points)
This sexy beauty and the beast story is one of reunited lovers, Mateo and Olivia. When Mateo would go on deployment, he and Olivia, longtime friends and lovers would meet up for a little action, no strings attached (though Olivia, a successful lingerie model, would have welcomed more). When Mateo is wounded in the line of duty, he shuns any contact with her, suffering behind a well of self pity and self recriminations. Now Olivia is back in Salvation, jobless, nearly penniless and wondering what she's going to do with her life. Meeting Mateo again, the police chief now, it's clear that their previous association still lingers in their minds and the chemistry between them is undeniable. Forced to work together in a charity benefit for their local defunct veteran's center, can they regain the trust they used to have, and finally admit their long held feelings for each other?
This was a really enjoyable third story in the Sweet Salvation Brewery series with the last remaining triplet Olivia, the first two stories in the series having featured her sisters Miranda and Natalie. All the stories are standalone, and if you haven't read the other two, this one gives a clear picture of how the town of Salvation has always treated the Sweets (not well) and how they've come a long way in rehabilitating their family name. Olivia is the last holdout, the wildest of the three, and it's going to take a little more convincing to show the town that she's changed for the better. A benefit for the veterans, to get them a functioning center again is her way of helping the town and securing a better future for her soon to be born niece. I really liked Olivia's character, her spunky never fail attitude (not always so self assured on the inside) and her willingness to put herself out there for the men and women who've been in the service, even if the Mayor is against the idea (stemming from his own personal vendetta against Olivia). Mateo is definitely the wounded warrior here, physically scarred, and with a helping of PTSD to go with it. When Olivia wanted to take things to the next level he turned her down. Now, he'd give anything to go back to those days when he felt whole and cocky and alive. Put the two of them in a room together now and the sparks still fly, though Mateo is reluctant to admit it at first. But Olivia feels no pity for him, except for his own willingness to cut himself off from his friends and people who want to be there for them and see through the scars. Their eventual reconnection and love scenes are super sexy and emotional.
It takes Olivia a little while to convince Mateo that they can have again what they used to, only this time so much better. But for that to happen they'll both have to admit that it isn't just the sex that they've missed. I liked how they came to terms with their relationship. Mateo is willing to stand up for Olivia even if it means trouble for his job, and he comes across as a downright likeable guy (despite his grumpy bear tendencies). I also enjoyed the presence of Olivia's two sisters in the story, their unique personalities coming through and making it clear that the three of them are truly friends. It was a fun and sexy read, and a great addition to the series. 4 stars.

Title: Trouble on Tap Series: Series Author: Avery Flynn Release Date: July 14, 2015 My Rating: 3 Stars POV: Dual
Trouble on Tap is my very first novel by Avery Flynn, and as a result, making it my first book in the Sweet Salvation Brewery Series.
Anyone who knows me, knows that second chance love novels are books that I desire intensely. So when I came across Trouble on Tap, I had to have it.
Trouble on Tap focuses on Olivia Sweet and Mateo Garcia. Olivia is a high fashion model and is the last of the Sweet triplets...Mateo is the sexy Marine and Olivia's long time hookup, who she happens to have deep feelings for. Mateo is not looking for a relationship, although he cares for Olivia. Olivia slips up and lets Mateo know that once he returns from his deployment in Afghanistan, that she would like to pursue a relationship with him...but Mateo turns her down.
Fast forward three years...
Olivia Sweet is now broke, homeless and jobless. Her ex-boyfriend depleted her bank account and sold naked pictures of her to some revenge porn site. Therefore, leaving her with a doomed career and no choice but to return to her hometown of Salvation, Virginia.
Mateo Garcia, sexy ex-marine, has returned from his last military deployment a changed man. Scars on the left side of his gorgeous face from a road side bomb has left the now police chief broken...and with a slight chip on his shoulder.
Forced to work together to organize a fundraiser for the shatteringVeteran's Center, Mateo and Olivia can't deny their attraction. Their chemistry is indisputable, but Mateo can't get past the fact that he's not the man she deserves.
Not everyone is happy about wild Olivia Sweet being back in Salvation. Will she remain in her hometown that has never wanted her or will she flee leaving the man who holds her heart and never look back?
Trouble on Tap started off great for me but something happened along the way that I became disinterested. I lost my connection with the characters, which became frustrating, but that could possibly be because I haven't read the first two books in this series. Had I realized that before diving in, I would have read the first two books first. With that said, this book is a satisfactory read and fans of this series should fully enjoy.
This was my first visit to the town of Salvation, and I have to admit I am highly disappointed in myself for not making the visit A LOT sooner. With this being the third book in the series, I was concerned I'd be missing out on pertinent details since I was reading the books out of order, but I can honestly say that after reading this book I didn't get that feeling at all, if anything, I am now even more eager to read the first two installments in the series.
After being labeled the town outcast Olivia Sweet leaves home to become a famous model, after a few years of success on the catwalk, she is once again rejected by her "town" and sent packing. The only thing that makes her feel whole in life is a relationship she has with fellow hometown-er Mateo Garcia. While their relationship isn't exactly a conventional one, she stills tries to hold onto it, in hopes that they can have a normal life together, only once again to be rejected. Mateo is a soldier, a man of honor, and a man that has no intention of ever being tied down. And while he cares for Olivia, he knows that he just isn't the right man for her, so when she proposes they take their sexual relationship to the next level, he decides rejecting her is the most honorable and safe thing he can do for her, not realizing that he is making the biggest mistake of his life.
So, once again Olivia picks herself up and moves on, only to be cast away again. With nothing left to lose she decides to move back home to Salvation, in hopes of redeeming herself and finally finding some well deserved happiness, only to come face to face with the man her cast her aside so many years ago...
This story was a real treat to read, and a even more beautiful one to watch unfold. To watch Olivia suffer so many personal losses in her life, and then see her dust herself off and get back up again was not only empowering, but also a true testament of human spirit and strength. Ms. Flynn has truly outdone herself once again with the character development in this story!
I highly recommend you take a little time to visit the town of Salvation and meet these amazing characters that Ms. Flynn has created, you will not be disappointed!!
ARC requested through NetGalley, and kindly provided by the publisher, in exchange for a honest review.
It was way to short for there to be any real development of either characters or the relationship between Mateo and Olivia. But those two knew each other since they were kids and already had been involved with each other before, so it didn't feel so forced. That's why it was my favourite. And you know.. there was a hot soldier with scars on his body and mind just waiting to be healed.
Olivia used to model. She has the curves most women would envy, but not the modeling world. Her agency had to let her go, because she was "too big".
She was involved with Mateo, a soldier from home. They used to meet a couple of times a month for a hook up. But Olivia was ready to make their relationship more official. And Mateo shot her down.
She returns to her hometown three years later and things are just like they used to be. Most of the population in Salvation doesn't want her back and they think that Sweets are some kind of abomination.
One thing is different though. Mateo was injured in a battle and now has a huge scar on his face. Also his attitude has changed. He used to be cocky and arrogant but now he's just broken and he takes it out on anyone who get near him.
Just like other books in the series this one was short, fast and rushed. I felt like Mateo had some switch in his head and someone flicked it and he suddenly fell in love with Olivia. Two thirds of the book were bit slow and cold and the last one was overly hot and so fast that before I could blink ten different things happened.
It was a good ending to a decent series and I might read other books by Avery Flynn.
This is one "Sweet" read that needs to be on the top of everyone's MUST read list! Mateo and Olivia have scorching chemistry, red hot need, and a desire to be together whenever they can. That is until Olivia wants more....
Returning to Salvation broke and homeless was never in the plans for Olivia, yet here she is. What she never expected to find was Mateo. Broken, bitter and angry, he's no longer the man she knew. Yet the draw to be near him and help him heal is strong. Now if she can just get him to see himself as she does!!
Smart business move: Create a trilogy about triplets. You only need one model for the entire series.
This was my least favorite book in the series. I would just like the trope that scarred men become god awful brutes who hate everyone and everything and are convinced that even when a woman shows that she is attracted to them, it is pity, to die in a deep, deep hole in the bottom of the sea (great, now that song is stuck in my head. Just another sin to lay at this book's door).
I didn't hate everything. I do love the trope where two people were together and ended things, but are now back in contact with each other. Especially for novella-length romances, since it makes the insta-attraction make more sense. They already know what it's like together.
The writing was still good (all of it *winky face*), the characters interesting, and the storyline... Well, it's not LOGICAL, but it's not completely unrealistic. Only mostly unrealistic. Though I might be saying this as someone who has never lived in a small town (thank the Lord. The month I spent in the middle of nowhere in TN was not the best month of my life).
Anyway, the "villain" of the book was VERY easy to defeat. Actually, there were two (spoiler alert?), and both of them were taken care of with a few words that reeked of blackmail. It really had a big build-up for no pay-off. I was expecting more sleaze. Especially from one of those villains, since he has been a reoccurring problem child throughout the entire trilogy.
Final thoughts: I liked this trilogy and there were elements to each book that I enjoyed, but each book had two tropes, one that I adore and one that I would hate. Plus with the drama only somewhat making sense, it really made me struggle with the stories and lower my rating for each book. Also, I am sorry for anyone who reads this review, because I had coffee and now my brain is ping-ponging and I don't think I'm making much sense.
This is absolutely the best book out of the three; I think I enjoyed each progressively more than last. I really grew to love the Sweet sisters and their little town.
Trouble on Tap really didn't involve the brewery at all; it was like an afterthought, whereas in the other books the brewery was front and center. This was much more about Olivia and Mateo's relationship and internal demons. And it's a second chance romance, an absolutely favorite trope for me.
Olivia is the third and final triplet for us to get to know, the youngest and the one who has embraced the stereotype that the Sweet family is crazy and wild, rather than rallying against it like her older sisters. In reality, though, she craves to be accepted in the same way her sisters craved it - if not more. She's gone out and lived a glamorous life as a model. She's ready to come home, be part of the family business and to be loved and accepted. That all stopped for various reasons, 1 being that Mateo's final tour had ended in disaster and he wouldn't see Olivia. Now he's back home and too busy carrying the guilt of that last tour to really embrace life.... until Olivia comes back and begins breaking down his walls.
I loved the personal growth in this book. The animals are also really fantastic - there's a 3 legged cat and a scraggly dog - both that you just can't help but love. And it closes out the chapter on the Sweet Family really nicely. Not that there couldn't be more books in this town - there certainly could - but I'm very satisfied with how Avery Flynn has wrapped up things for the Sweet Sisters.
I listened to this book and Charlotte North continues to be a really reliable narrator for good voices and bringing everything to life. I will not hesitate to listen to more books she narrates.
Yeah, nope. It was a bad rendition of beauty and the beast and was borderline disrespectful (not to beauty and the beast, to people who genuinely had life happen to them and have scars/lost an ear).
Plus it was smuttingly painful. I like smut, but it doesn’t make up for character development. There was nothing else here but people who used to bang, stopped banging and resumed banging. Also we’re told they’re in love and are to believe it 🤷🏻♀️
This series is the first I've read from Avery Flynn.
I really enjoyed this series.
Avery Flynn's heroines are very distinctive and very memorable in character and personality which is unusual and desirable. Normally authors focus on the male.
4.5 ⭐️ this was just the book I felt like listening to. The narrator was a delight to listen to. This story had the great combination of fun and feels that I think Avery Flynn is particularly skilled at. Both of these characters could have easily ended up 2 dimensional but I felt they were both given much more
I’m giving this book 5 stars, not because it was perfect, but it was perfect for the headspace I’m in. It started out more angsty and took a turn into the more absurd, but in a fun way
It’s time to go back to Salvation one final time to see what happens with the last Sweet triplet Olivia. We’ve waited patiently for her to return to Salvation and when she does….it may never be the same again.
This is the third instalment of the Sweet Salvation Brewery series and while I’m sad to see it end, I’m happy to see all three of my favourite triplets get their HEA.
Olivia and Mateo are just perfect for each other and it shows from the opening chapter till the last page. They have known each other forever, indulged in some hot hook ups but neither were looking for more till one hot night that changed everything.
“You forget; I know you. I know everything about you. I know what turns you on. What makes you melt. What makes you keep coming back for more.”
Jump three years and you have Olivia the supermodel now in retirement and heading home to her sisters in the town she vowed never to return to. Her new career in tatters because of an ass of an ex-boyfriend who sold her out, stole her money and cost her a job.
As for Mateo, he’s back from the Marines, wounded, broken, no longer who he once was and now the chief of police for the same small town that he also never wanted to come back to. Not to mention that he seems to be stuck with a dog that nobody wants but that wants him.
When these two meet again the chemistry is hot enough to cause sparks. As they are pushed together on a project to save the veterans hall, they alternate between slinging barbs and fighting the molten hot attraction that’s still there.
Thank God he wasn’t in full uniform or her panties might have melted. Who was she kidding? The strap of silk covering the good china was already toast just looking at him in his form-fitting jeans and a black polo with the Salvation Police Department logo.
Not everyone is happy that a Sweet is trying to better the town and when resistance starts to drive a wedge between Olivia and Mateo eventually the tension boils over and the sexual tension snaps and soon the clothes go flying as well as the reasons it’s a bad idea to sleep together.
“No one knows more about sinning than a Sweet.” “That’s what you think.” He lifted the hem of her shirt, inching it higher as slowly as he could without losing what was left of his mind. “I’m going show you a thing or two tonight.”
When the sun rises, so does the doubts. Then Olivia’s ex-boyfriend comes to town and things get ugly and hash words are spoken sending Oliva fleeing. Will Mateo finally realise that Olivia is the one for him and can he win her back?
Of course we see Miranda and Natalie, they are triplets after all. Plus we get an ending to the series that is just perfect. Damn you Avery Flynn, my eyes sprung a leak when I turned the last page. I absolutely loved it.
This has been a fantastic series and I have loved every word.
I received a copy of this book from the author (who rocks) for review
A sweet and steamy second chance love story and a small town romance, with a best friend’s big brother as well…talk about a few of my favorite things – makes me want to break out into song! Trouble on Tap had a bit of everything I love in a contemporary romance and was the perfect way to round out the story of the Sweet triplets and the Sweet Salvation Brewery.
When Olivia Sweet returns to Salvation - let’s just say that she brings a whole lot of history with her! As the wild child of the triplets, she’s ruffled enough feathers in the town with her antics, and that doesn’t even begin to describe the chaos that ensued when she had a reality tv show follow her home for the holidays one year. Filled with good intentions, Olivia seems to always have things go oh, so wrong…the latest fiasco involving her ex sharing a very private video she sent to him on a revenge porn site. What I loved about Olivia though, was despite all the downs, she was determined to succeed and never gave up, always moving forward.
Mateo has come back to Salvation after being injured in the war, becoming a very grouchy, cold hearted man who has used his physical scars as a way to keep people away. As the town’s sheriff the people depend on him, but boy he has one big chip on his shoulder! He broke Olivia’s heart before he was injured, and now that she’s back in town he still wants her, but he just can’t come to terms how she could ever want him.
Together Olivia and Mateo were explosive. Right from the opening these two set the pages on fire. When Olivia comes back to town and has to work with Mateo on a project to save the Veteran’s Center that spark is still there between them, they just need to find their way back to one another. I loved how they truly wanted to help each other, even if they were driving each other crazy. And I really loved Mateo’s protective streak when it came to Olivia!
The cast of characters in Salvation added such color to the story. From Olivia’s sisters and their men, to the locals in town, and especially Ruby, the owner of the diner who seems to have her finger on the pulse of everything that goes on, these small town people all had big personalities that added to the story.
This was a fast paced read that had a bit of sweet, a bit of angst and drama, and a whole lot of sass and sexy going on. The ending was a bit quick, but I did love the how things were tied up. Another great read from Avery Flynn!
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
Ah, the last of the Sweet triplet sister comes home to Sweet Salvation. After successful years in the modeling business, Olivia Sweet’s time of fame and wealth is over. She is broke, and has nothing left to show for, but she is determined to help her sisters with the brewery they had inherited in the town she once hated. However, the homecoming is not all that sweet. The town still had it in for her, and it will take a whole lot to convince them that she is not who they suspect her to be. To add to her troubles, the man she had once had an “understanding” with is now the town’s police chief. Their relationship was nothing more than just wild one-night-stands, but the secrecy of their past is threatened. Someone has proof of their activities and threatened to make the videos public. Mateo being an ex-marine is determined to help Olivia out of this mess and in the process building a relationship he never wanted to start from the beginning.
I love this series as a whole. Avery Flynn succeeded to deliver a very SWEET small town romance. She delivered romantic stories that were heartfelt yet light hearted. I enjoyed the small-town vibe she gave the series and adding a hint of military and suspense to this story was a good move. It was a good fit for the overall plot. Olivia and Mateo’s story was not my favorite of the trio, but I liked them plenty. Avery Flynn gave them a well deserve happy-ending. Her execution to finally give the Sweet sisters the acceptance they deserved was very satisfying as well. Ms. Flynn and this series, in particular, remains on my small-town recommended list. I’m hoping to read more of her work soon.
Trouble On Tap by Avery Flynn is the third and final installment in her Sweet Salvation Brewery series. It was a perfect ending to this series. I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Olivia Sweet was considered the "wild" Sweet and left Salvation swearing never to return. Growing up she had a huge crush on Mateo Garcia, her best friend's big brother. The crush led to many clandestine meetings while Mateo was in the Marines. She fell for him but he wasn't willing then to have more than a casual relationship. It broke Olivia's heart but she moved on. Now life has thrown another curveball and she's back in Salvation - she's broke and humiliated thanks to her ex-boyfriend. She's a fighter and is determinded to contribute to the brewery by being the brewery's Publicity Rep.
Mateo Garcia was handsome and determined to get out of Salvation when he grew up. He joined the Marines and didn't think he would ever return to Salavation. He was never sure that he would come back from a mission. He's back now after enduring recovery from horrific injuries from a mission. He is scarred both inside and out and prefers to live mostly as a recluse. Until Olivia comes back into his life and then the "trouble" begins.
Readers get to visit with Miranda, Natalie, Ruby Sue and the mean-sprited Mayor. Their is lively dialogue, hot and smexy scenes with Olivia and Mateo, and many deeply emotional moments with Mateo and Olivia.
This was a very enjoyable read and Avery did a fantastic job in sharing this second-chance love story with so many emotions - laughter to tears to smiles at the HEA.
Trouble on Tap is the third book in the Sweet Salvation Brewery Series and revolves around the third Sweet sister, Olivia. Olivia left home to become a supermodel and she succeeded. One thing remains the same and that is the chemistry between her and Mateo. Olivia and Mateo would meet up right before he had to deploy for some serious sexy moments, only Olivia’s feelings became too much for Mateo and they didn’t end their “relationship” on good terms. Mateo becomes scarred from his latest deployment and has no choice but to come back home and become the chief of police.
Olivia comes back home too. She has nowhere else to go but home. Her ex-boyfriend stole everything from her and now has the power to make her life miserable. Once Olivia and Mateo realize they can’t fight their attraction to each other, no matter how hard they try, all bets are off and these two reconnect. The reconnection doesn’t happen immediately; as it shouldn’t. But once these two put their fears aside, they realize how far they will go for the other.
I really enjoyed this series and with this book, you really get a sense of loyalty between the three sisters. They know the town thinks they are trash, but it doesn’t stop them from making Salvation their home and when heartache reaches Olivia, everyone better watch out, because the Sweet sisters are not to be messed with.
The story is well-written, the characters are entertaining and amusing at times, and even though it was a quick read, I was thoroughly satisfied. The only thing that would have made it better, was if something happened to the Mayor Douchebag.
I don't know how Flynn did it but she did. I was concerned I wasn't going to enjoy Olivia's story as much because I wasn't as connected with her. And Trouble on Tap ended up being my favorite of them all!
Olivia, the wild one of the Sweet triplets, is back home with her tail tucked between her legs. When she sees how her sisters have found happiness, she's determined to make things *right* - on her own - so that the Sweets can be valued members of Salvation rather than the subject of gossip.
Mateo is back in Salvation as its police chief. He's living with lots of regrets - memories of the things that caused him to lose his entire Marine unit and those that caused him to lose Olivia. When she comes storming back into Salvation, he knows he's in trouble.
I can't not mention Ruby Sue. She always says it like it is and her words of *ahem* encouragement to Mateo are some of her best yet. AND we now know the secret to the pie! ;)
I've really enjoyed this series. I like the play on the town name, Salvation. I think all 3 Sweet sisters were looking for some salvation, as were their 3 guys. Who knew salvation was right under their noses in Salvation...they just needed a little Sweet.
**I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.**
Olivia, the trouble-maker of the Sweet-triplets, returns to Salvation after her asshole-boyfriend posted pictures of her on a revenge-porn-site and took all her money. But she's desperate to proof to everybody and herself that she can do things "normal", too.
Which she totally fails in, but who cares ... she does it with style and charme. I really liked the youngest of the Sweet sisters.
Matteo is an ex-Marine, turned police chief, and Olivia's former secret hook-up. Yep, just like her sister Miranda with Logan. The handsome soldier has a huge chip on is shoulder after a terrible incident while on mission and doesn't think he deserves someone like Olivia. Yes, we also had something like that before, too.
And still, I liked the way Avery Flynn took topics and tropes we all read a 100 times before and turned them into an amusing, heart-felt, fun-reading story. Again, the ending was too abrupt for my liking, I hate it when it feels like there needs to be just a little bit more.
For me The Sweet Salvation Brewery series isn't Avery Flynn's best work, but still a nice in-between read.
I received an ARC for Trouble on Tap prior to the release date.
Avery Flynn's Trouble on Tap pulls on the readers heart strings in so many places you can't help but root for the underdog.
From the first page, Trouble on Tap had me hooked. Avery Flynn's words tugged me deep and pulled me along with Olivia Sweet and Mateo Garcia. So much so that I couldn't wait to get to the last page and finished it the same day. It had me laughing at the triplet's antics, and had me fanning myself with the hot looks and dirty words that Olivia and Mateo shared in their more heated moments--that means the sex scenes were hot!!!! The emotional tears that came when I reached the dark moment were worth every word I read. And of course I can't forget the HEA that I love to read. It was a beautiful colored rendering painted in words.
The final book in the Sweet Salvation Brewery Books is as sweet as Ruby Sue's pecan pie. Trouble on Tap is not to be missed.
P.S. I think Avery really likes the acronym FUBAR.
