Delving deeply into the heart of English culture, etiquette, and tradition, this unique travel guide spices the countryside with stories that reveal the English character at its best, including sections on the Bronte sisters, an English garden, and seafaring lore.
A must have for Anglophiles! I feel so blessed to have visited (and fallen madly in love) with most of the locations featured in this beautiful book that is full of lovely photographs and lots of information. There are even some recipes in the back. Anyone who enjoys the magazine should also enjoy this hardback. (I don't know it for a fact, but I suspect Heaven must look like England - especially Yorkshire, the Lake District, or Cornwall.)
I liked the layout, collection of topics, and the quotes from literary greats were beautiful. I especially loved the short chapter and associated pictures of the Bronte family.
Some of the pictures seemed to be unfocused and fuzzy…not sure if that was intentional or not.
Finished the book in one day, enjoyable, but short read.
I was given this book by a dear friend, and I tend to go back and look through it often. It is filled with English gardens, breakfast tables and lovely quotes.
