Christmas Fudge Fatality

Rate this book
A baker who sees the dead. One too many suitors. And a killer. Living in Honey Hollow can be murder.
MURDER IN THE MIX Cozy Mystery Christmas Special

A laugh out loud standalone cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore ***Includes RECIPE***

My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owner’s impending doom.

The holidays have arrived, and the Jolly Holly Tree Lot is hosting a special event that has pets and people alike bustling to get a picture with the jolly old elf himself. My sweet cats are just as anxious as I am to get to the front of the line, but that body I stumble upon threatens to take the joy right out of the season.

Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to see the dead—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

Living in the small town of Honey Hollow can be murder.

I didn't realize this was so far into the series but that's okay, it didn't really spoil too much. This is such a cute and fun series, looking forward to reading more and getting caught up.

Entertaining mystery listening 🎶🔰

This is a free novella e-book from Amazon a novella from the series. I love 💘 free holiday season murder mystery e-books.

They are having a party for the coming holiday season when there is a murder. The victim is in the middle of a divorce from her husband. There are a number of suspects from the husband, bookkeeper, manager, and a couple more. The police investigation leads to the truth and arrest of a killer..

I would recommend this novella and author to 👍 readers of romantic relationships mystery novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡🏡🎅

A cute Christmas themed cozy mystery. Lottie talks to ghosts but they are the ghosts of pets of deceased who come to her for help finding who did away with their beloved owners.Great characters and a good flow for a quick read.

First time reading a story from this author. Entertaining read, although I cringed a bit at the fact that every female in the story is described as gorgeous or beautiful, nobody is average looking or has something better about them than their looks. The other thing that seems to be in the other stories is the love triangle that the main character Lemon is in with of course two gorgeous, successful men. A judge and a detective. Of course I don't know the entire background story but to me it just seems odd that two intelligent men who happened to be former step-brother's are ok with spending time with the same girl whom they both have feelings for and she has feelings for them both. I guess this could happen, especially in a series that is mystery with a splash of supernatural sprinkled in. Lemon can see ghosts, but not just ordinary ghosts, departed pets who can speak. And when a departed pet appears, the owner's body isn't too far behind. She is a bakery own slash amateur detective who helps solve murders. All in all a light enjoyable read that I would be interested in picking up another book in the series

This one sticks to the mystery and very little of the story line is about the romance.

I thought this was a good mystery but would have been more enjoyable if read in order. Read this and went back and read number 2 and was very confused. Will not make that mistake again.

If you’re new to Addison Moore’s work, and you’re looking to see if her Murder In The Mix Series is for you, then this book is the perfect place to start. Addison has managed to create a book which follows the series, but you don’t have to read from the very beginning to see what happens, instead you get to read a book which pretty much sums up everything that is going on in Lottie’s life and I love how Addison has created that. It’s enough of a taste to make you decide if you want to go ahead and start the series and with Lottie being such a loveable character you can’t help but want to know more. I couldn’t find anything to fault with this story and I loved how Addison wrote it, I have loved following Lottie, so for me this book was a bit extra that I just loved. I think Addison has done really well to try and entice readers into giving the series a try and I would highly recommend that you give this book a read to see if the series is for you.

Lottie is doing well in life, she’s got the perfect job that she loves, has amazing family and friends that she loves and adores, two guys fighting for her love and affections. What more could be right with the world? Lottie has a secret, a secret that only Noah and Essex know about….. The thing is, she can see the dead. When that usually happens, there turns out to be a murder. So when Lottie finds herself in the middle of an investigation, she can’t help but want to find the killer, but she tends to put her life in danger…. Will she be able to solve the mystery or will she end up putting her life on the line?

This novella is so full of inconsistencies and errors I gave up about half way through it. (Only verified the perp) and deleted it with all the other books in this series from my library.
I’ll try to get through the last book before reaching the point where this and the Country Cottage Mystery series meet.

Back to this book and its issues:
- as with all cozies by this author it’s in serious need of an editor
- the book was published after #20 in series but should be rather #3.5 or #15.5 to fit the pre-Christmas setting
Reasons for the earlier number in series: Nell is still alive, relationships and cast of characters fit mostly this point in series, no mention of Noah’s almost fatal accident with coma and lengthy recovery, no Carlotta, Britney or Cormack mention, Lily has still issues with Lottie and is still best friends with Naomi, Mayor Nash is still (just) that, no mention of any marriages (Lottie, Lainey), Meg didn’t appear within the family introduction
For the later numbers speak: no mention of Tanner Redwood, the ghost can speak, Lottie’s relationship with Everett (she’s aware of his feelings, has this quasi dual relationship and is not deliriously happy with Noah/some strain obvious), Noah’s knowledge of her ‘gift’, Lottie and the two men in her life are aware thy can hear the ghost if they hold Lottie’s hand, the haunted tours at the B&B with following bakery trip for the last victim’s final sweet treat

This book has a love triangle like the Stephanie Plum & Hannah Swenson books. Two gorgeous men and one woman who can’t stop discovering dead bodies. I generally dislike books where animals talk, and this one was no exception. Except it was a ghost dog. The MC owns a bakery and her Mom owns a haunted B&B. I didn’t like that she calls herself “supersensual” instead of “supernatural”, either. I have zero plans to read any more books in this series. 📚🐉

I did not gel with this short story at all. It revolves around Lottie, who owns a bakery in a small town. She also has a habit of finding dead bodies because their dead pets appear and speak to her before it happens.

What I couldn’t get to grips with is everyone being amazingly good looking. Not only that, they are beautiful inside and out! Where is this mythical place?! On top of that, Lottie has two stunning gorgeous men vying for her attention, and she strings them along, not choosing.

Also, how does someone spend hours in a car park holding two cats for a photo op with Santa? No harnesses, no nothing and the said felines are happy to be passed from person to person…? Yeah, not happening in my extensive experience with felines!

Plus, if the dead pets appear before their owners are killed, how come Noel wasn’t with Tamara when she died and so could tell Lottie what happened?

Then there is that Lottie was so sure that the ex-husband was the killer, which didn’t ring true for me personally. And Noah giving out Everett’s mobile number to a suspect, talk about unprofessional and is personal data not protected in America? Then he and Lottie were interrogating the main suspect at the tree lighting ceremony! So in summary, it was okay but I won’t be reading any more. 2 stars

Lottie is back and finds herself in the presence of a french bulldog that has returned from the dead to help find it's owner's killer. Lottie doesn't take long to find out who the dog belonged to as she discovers the body. Although set at Christmas, this book is definitely not a happy holiday read. Lottie then pursues her leads and discovers who did the deed. She is still stuck trying to choose between Essex and Noah and I just would like her to get on with it already. I do have one issue with this series and it's that everyone is supposedly beautiful. There isn't an average looking person to be found in these books.

An enjoyable mystery.

Lottie is getting ready for Christmas, when a murder occurs. She helps the victim's ghost dog to solve the murder. Lottie deals with a variety of suspects, running her bakery, yet to g ready for Christmas, and dealing with Everett and Noah, who are vying for her attention. Included is the recipe for Lottie's Christmas Fudge.

Short and sickly sweet

Even with a murder this book is a very lighthearted attempt at a cozy with two men after 1 women in the obligatory romance aspect. A lot of silliness really.

Addison Moore is an amazingly prolific writer with several cozy mystery series. Her Murder In The Mix series stars Lottie Lemon, and last time I looked, she had written at least 47 of these. I say "at least" because this one is #20.5 implying more have snuck into the mix! I've read #1, #10 and now #20.5, and as I commented in my review of #10, things don't seem to have changed much in her home town except Lottie now has two Himalayan cats instead of one. She runs a bakery, is balancing a love life with two hunky men, her BFF is Keelie, and she sees and talks to dead fur babies which are harbingers that their prior owners may be about to die! So I would guess reading them in order is not required for enjoyment.

I honestly have loved all the ones I read, this current one especially. It's laugh out loud funny, and the characters are great. This one has a delectable recipe at the end for Lottie's Christmas Chocolate Fudge that I am planning to make. Addison, you are the cozy mystery maven in my book!

This Cozy Culinary Mystery is delightful in its own way. Lottie Lemon is the envy of many single women in town. Two of the town's most eligible bachelors (a detective and a prosecuting attorney) are contending for her exclusive attention. As the trio independently approaches the jolly old elf, she stumbles upon another body. And the victim's former pet's spirit heralded the murder to her.

The story follows the pervading pattern. Interview all witnesses and suspects. Debunk any misleading information. And convince the culprit to confess. The story is set apart from other tales by the setting, personalities (including some ghosts), and banter. In the end, the case is solved, the murderer is taken into custody, and the Christmas pageantry continues. Overall, an enjoyable use of time.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

Lottie Lemon lives in a small town called Honey Hallow. She has her own bakery, where she makes many wonderful sweet treats. But the fudge is her specialty at this time of year. You will find the recipe at the back of the book, looks very yummy. She has a supernatural ability to see pets of persons who have passed on. She also has two pets of her own, two cats, named Waffles and Pancake. It is Christmas Time and she is taking her cats to have their photo taken with Santa. But a tragedy occurred while they were at the Christmas tree lot.

So many people were there, Lottie finds a dead body at the event. Then the town wonders who killed this person. So Lottie does some investigating on her own. The victims ghost pet wants to know who killed her . Although, it could of been one of many who may have done it.

This was a novella to enjoy for a change of pace at Christmas Time.

Paranormal mystery with a talking ghost dog

Lottie Lemon, a talented baker in a small town, solves a murder with thre help of the victim's previously deceased dog, who talks to her and suggests possible suspects. Although she's busy baking for Christmas parties, she finds time to visit suspects accompanied by friends, male and female. Hiwever, when she finally figures it out, she goes alone and narrowly escapes being killed. The judge and the detective, rivals for her affections, save the day. The talking dog wasn't really helpful, nor were the pair of ghosts who haunt her mother's guest house. Interesting twist but not used very effectively.

"Both Everett and Noah are apprised of my transmundane status, further classified as supersensual."

Lottie Lemon literally a lot on her plate with a successful bakery in her hometown and 2 gorgeous eligible men courting her. And she sees ghosts both of animals as well as occasionally humans . This time it is a dog ghost asking for help as his mistress is lying at the bottom of a ravine. But who did it and why?

With 566 Goodreads reviews already I am not going to trails through the storyline. I also admit that although I have actually never read them I do own 5 of this series including the first one which may possibly be my first book of the year 2026 . Highly Recommended 5/5

This book was pretty cute. It is a novella in the Lottie Lemon series. It says that it's a standalone cozy mystery, but I didn't know who anyone was and right at the beginning she has two men fighting over her. I'm kind of over that whole trope, thanks to Joanne Fluke not giving Hannah the proper ending. And this book has the main character interacting with the spirit of dead pets, and it just seemed that it was more for Halloween. I wish it had more Christmas spirit. But the cover was cute, and the cozy mystery actually had to do with solving a murder, rather than someone stealing some flower arrangements. It was a quick read and free on my Nook.

This was a short story that I read in one day. I got it right from the author on her facebook page.

I love Christmas stories and this was different since it was paranormal story where the animals talked to the main character, Lottie Lemon who owns and runs a bakery and makes very good chocolate fudge with pecans.

It was the Christmas season so they had a tree lighting in the book! There was also a murder in the town and Lottie helped solve the murder!

The book was well written and I never heard of the author before, but I will look for her books again and will recommend them.
