To Want a Rogue is another incredibly quick read from Tammy Andresen, one that can be devoured in no time at all. Although To Want a Rogue is linked to the De Wolfe Pack and the Chronicles of a Bluestocking series, the book can be read as a standalone. Those who have read the Chronicles of a Bluestocking series will recognise the male lead from one of the books, but an introduction is not necessary to understand him.

As always, Tammy Andresen provided a story that packs plenty into the short read. To Want a Rogue pulls you right in, ensuring you’ll be happy to complete the story in a single sitting. You’ll fall for the characters and will be desperate to see how everything comes together, for both the main characters and the side characters.

All in all, another enjoyable quick read from Tammy Andresen.

My review :

When a rescue brings a widower and orphan siblings together, can the sister and the lone man heal their heart together ...

This short quick read had no villain, only dire circumstances which put two people together.
Gavin is trying to overcome his late wife sudden disparition, while it was a marriage of convenience, he came to love her and since is struggling to accept her demise.
Dahlia has only her brother left as relative in the world, why they are so close and each ready to sacrifice everything for the other. So when on their way to his new post he is injured, she realizes how precarious is her position in the world.
Luckily she sought help at the right door.
Gavin in spite of his decision to never love again is instantly drown to her, he is seeking at first for a quick tryst then realize for her he might be able to walk the aisle again, but surrender his heart ... ?
Dahlia tries to be a dutiful to her wounded brother, why she even avoid Gavin’s advances, yet she can’t stop her heart to flutter when he is around.
A sweet short tale of giving a chance to love.

This was an excellently written novella that was really fun to read. I loved the characters and felt as if I got to know them. This book is part of the DeWolf Pack Connected World and I believe it is also the last book in the Chronicles of A Bluestocking series.

Miss Dahlia Abigail Smith and her brother, Samuel (Sam) only had each other. They had lost both of their parents to diseases of the lung when it spread through London. While there was a small inheritance, it wouldn’t keep them for long, so they spent the money to complete Sam’s schooling as a barrister. Sam has now completed his education and they are traveling away from London to Sam’s new place of employment. A terrible storm overtakes them, horrendous thunder, flashing lightning, torrential rain, and wailing wind. The coachman does his best to outrun the approaching storm, but a large tree is uprooted and falls directly across the coach. The coachman is thrown from his perch on the coach and is left unconscious. Sam is trapped under the tree and cannot escape, so it is left to Dahlia to find help.

Dahlia feels as if she’s been trudging through the cold, driving rain for days when she finally sees what must be a dwelling in the distance. The place is forbidding looking – eerie – especially in this storm, but she must trudge on and find help for Sam.

When she arrives and lets the knocker fall on the huge wooden door, she is exhausted. When the door is opened, this sodden, small mouse falls inside dripping all over an expensive carpet. She is at the home of Baron Gavin deWolfe, widower, loner, and, at the moment, her savior.

Gavin has been grieving for his wife for the last two years and has sworn that he’ll never marry again. Losing someone you love just hurts too bad. I loved Gavin’s different reactions to Dahlia. First, he mistook her for a child, then he realized she was a lovely young woman, then he thought she was a widow, then he learned she was the lovely young woman he had thought she was. I loved the battle he had within himself trying to fight the attraction he felt for Dahlia. Then, when she was in danger, he had a grand epiphany.

This is a quick, fun, entertaining and romantic read and I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Sprinting through the rain, she comes upon a dark mansion with stone wolves at that gate, she runs up the drive & collapses on entering. Lord Gavin deWolfe keeps to himself after the loss of his wife. He’ll help Delia and then send her on her way. The problem, her brother’s too injured to travel and she is no girl after all.
A lovely novella with strong characters & a well paced story, Gavin & Delia are immediately attracted to each other but try to keep their distance as they nurse Sam. However when Gavin fails to halt a party, things come to a head. I read this charming romance in an afternoon & thoroughly enjoyed it

This story starts out with almost a gothic feel which I adore! A stormy, rainy night journey in a coach, a terrible accident, a young lady desperate to find help for her brother who is injured and he coachman. Finally making her way to a dark castle and falling, drenched as the door opens! No, it does not get much better and with Tammy Andresen writing the story, I knew it would be fabulous!
Baron Gavin De Wolfe, oh yes, those strong, brooding De Wolfes and this one has been isolated due to his sorrow over the death of his wife. His grieving has been intense and he knows he will never love or marry again because it was too painful.
Dahlia had been on a journey with her brother, who had just taken a job when a tree fell on their carriage. When her brother needs to take time to heal before they can leave, Gavin and Dahlia get to know each other, they begin a delightful romantic journey. Perfect!!

Oooh Gavin De Wolfe is all types of wonderful.
This character made my day , just the man I needed to read about . Strong , deep , sensual, hurting but finally willing to give in to love again .

Penny was a good heroine , a little innocent that was ready to be taught how to love .
And the teacher just happened to be Gavin.

The two are like the storm in the book , thunder and lightning, made to be together, and they new from the first touch .
So good .

If you love this read the rest of the Bluestocking series too, they are brilliant.

To Want a Rogue by Tammy Andresen is about Miss Dahlia Abigail Smith, who was in a carriage accident. Her driver and her brother were both injured and despite the storm that was raging, Dahlia had to find help. She could see alight in the distance so she started on foot in that direction. When she got where she was going she saw the most horrifying, run-down mansion she had ever seen. She was soaking and cold so she had no choice but to knock on the door, wherein, thankfully, the people were much less frightening. Gavin de Wolfe was not a friendly man, but he was a good man and left immediately render aid. He and his grooms lifted the carriage off Sam's leg, which was injured badly, and returned to the manor and called a doctor. Gavin was to host a mall party consisting of some gentlemen and some ladies of the night. He didn't want to, but had allowed himself to be convinced as he was sorely in need of something to change his mood, the depression he had felt since his wife had died. He immediately realized that that could not happen now, to his relief, and he wrote a letter cancelling it. Sadly the letter did not reach the recipient in time, and his guests arrived. Obviously not appropriate company for Dahlia. Some comedy ensued. No spoilers.
Dahlia's and Sam's destinies were closely tied together as they had used what was lift of their parents' money to send Sam to school. When he was employed he would save money for a dowry for Dahlia.

They were on their way to his new place of employment when the carriage had wrecked. Without him, she was in a bind. As their days together passed, Gavin and Dahlia grew closer. Gavin was not looking for any kind of entanglement and Dahlia was too young, anyway. Both were pleasant and caring individuals. The hilarity arose with Gavin's London friends. It is worth the read just to witness how that all played out. I recommend To Want A Rogue as a pleasant afternoon's read. Don't we all want a rogue?

A Novel Crammed Into a Novella

2.5 Stars - This story would have made a great novel.

This book was well-written and had a strong start, but it was too short. Delia and Gavin were strangers. Their relationship progressed too rapidly, making it difficult to get a sense of romance, let alone love. There was little if any clear evidence of any regard they had for each other aside from physical attraction. The story would have been more romantic if there was also a good rapport between them not based on lust.

I was disappointed Delia turned out to be so weak and skittish, a stark contrast from the beginning of the book when she bravely sought help for her brother. Gavin could barely restrain his lust for Delia to have much empathy over her plight. The fact that Delia was in a desperate situation didn't deter him from making advances. Although he sometimes felt guilty about his attraction to her, Gavin still came off as a bit of a lecher. His decision to help her was motivated by a desire to possess her. However, shortly after Delia crossed his threshold, he had a change of heart. Suddenly, he had no appetite for debauchery, and the grief over losing his wife no longer had a grip on him. There wasn't enough material to support how he came to that conclusion so quickly.

Delia desperately needed a rescuer. Gavin had unprocessed grief over the loss of his wife and wanted to escape it. Their emotions sparked an almost instant infatuation, which they quickly concluded was love. Unfortunately, their intimacy didn't develop past the physical to a deeper level. Expanding the storyline could have shown that evolution.

Novellas are not usually my choice for reading as I don't get a chance to know the characters before the end of the story but this one is different & Tammy Andresen has created some wonderful characters that I really connected with & a lovely story to go along with them!

The loving brother & sister, Samuel & Dahlia Smith lost their parents to lung disease while living in London. They left their children a small inheritance that Sam & Dahlia used for Sam to finish school to become a barrister. They are leaving London & travelling to Sam's new position working for a lord, when they have a carriage accident. The horses escape, the driver is unconscious & Sam's leg is trapped in the wreckage. Dahlia must find her way to help in the pouring rain to save her brother & then she found de Wolf Manor.

Lord Gavin de Wolf is a handsome baron who lost his young wife 2 years ago & although it was not a love match, they had grown up as neighbors & marrying was the natural progression. They had cared deeply for one another & Gavin had been grieving her death & swore never to marry again as the loss of those close to him was too hard to experience again.

But then it happened, the rain drenched person fell through his front door begging for his help. He agrees to go find her brother & bring him back to the manor while she stays back to warm herself & dry her clothing. Sam is rescued by Gavin & the healing of her brother, the attraction between Gavin & the innocent, Dahlia blossom. I highly recommend this romantic & quick read to all historical romance readers - Tammy Andresen never disappoints her readers & this is another really good one!

To Want a Rogue is part of the De Wolfe Pack Connected World and the last of the Chronicles of a Bluestocking series. It was a great short story to end the series. Dahlia Smith and her brother, Sam, were on their way to his new position. Only a storm started before they made it to the inn for the night. A tree fell on their carriage and Sam’s leg was stuck under a pile of wood. Scared and drenched with rain, Dahlia ran to find help. She was able to find Gavin, Baron de Wolfe’s, castle and get aid. After the loss of his wife, Gavin preferred his own company. He was going to help the Smith’s then send them on their way. Can Gavin overcome his fear and allow himself to love another woman again? The book was short, but the characters were developed, and the story line was good. It was a wonderful short story to read in one setting.

Desperate to find help for her injured brother, Dahlia sets her fears aside as she enters the premises of the deWolfe castle. Brooding and intimidating, Lord Gavin has eschewed visitors to his home, wallowing in his grief and solitude after the death of his late wife. Dahlia brings new light and freshness into his life as together they take care of her seriously injured brother. A carriage load of visitors, most of whom are without scruples, arrives and ultimately forces Gavin's hand, leaving Dahlia confounded and bewildered. This is a charming Regency romance, one with echoes of The Beauty and the Beast. The story is fairly short, however, it does capture the emotions of the main characters and the simmering attraction between them. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Dahlia Smith and her brother are off to start a new life when a carriage accident severely injures her brother. Left with no choice Dahlia has to seek help to save her brother. After setting out at night in a drenching rain storm Dahlia comes across a eerie house up on the hill. Seeking help Dahlia finds Gavin de Wolfe at home and he helps to save her brother. Gavin de Wolfe lost his wife years before and has been very lonely and is very attracted to Dahlia but feels guilty like he is betraying the memory of his wife. Dahlia feels the sparks between her and Gavin and is afraid if she loses her brother what her future would hold. I could not put this one down! I loved this story. This was my first time reading this author and I am definitely looking forward to reading he books again!

To Want A Rogue is a phenomenal historical romance by Tammy Andresen. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Andresen has provided readers with a well-written book populated with an entertaining cast of characters. Dahlia and her brother are in a carriage accident. She runs to the nearest place she can find for help for her brother that is trapped in the carriage. Gavin and Dahlia's story is packed with drama, action, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading To Want A Rogue and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen.

Love

This is a very good story about a brother and his sister, Miss Dahlia Abigail Smith her brother Sam Smith. Sam was her brother and her best friend. Their parents died when a sickness had spread thru their area. Sam was heading to a new job but a severe summer storm blew up which caused their carriage to overturn. Dahlia was not hurt but it killed the driver and Sam was penned under the wreckage.
It is raining hard but she knows the she needs to find help. Dahlia finds help at the home of Gavin de Wolfe.
She not only finds the help she needs but also finds LOVE!!
