I'm sorry. I couldn't finish it. I only got about 40% through. I spent several days on it too. It's just a bad book. The only reason why I've continued at all in this series is because the first book was action-packed and the premise was interesting. But Forrest is not a strong enough writer to carry this book, the characters are hopeless, their choices are unrealistic, the plot drags on, and absolutely nothing has been resolved in a proper fashion.

I gave it my best shot, but this just wasn't for me.

And I'm out.

I couldn't finish. I liked the 1st couple of books but they just rapidly declined. I can not with the repeating. She just repeats every darn thing and it makes the book 200 pages too long.

Our 'band of brother's (and sisters, obviously!)' are still on the Immortal Plane. They have objectives they need to achieve more than ever. They learn huge & shocking news throughout which causes splits to become necessary!😱 Hope is dangled in front of them then it's snatched away in the most cruel of ways - again & again!!💔😭 Thankfully our core group in the City, never seem to give up hope entirely, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds!!🙏

I found, like book #3, this book lagged in places. Don't get me wrong, it's heart breaking & pulse pounding, it's sweet & romantic as well as utterly horrific in parts too, but at times during the story it became bogged down & repetitive!😕 Its still a good read though!👍 Love really does seem to be on horizon.🔥💘 Learning about their magic was as fascinating as it was disgustingly sickening!!😷😱
Book #5 is out in March so the wait is on!🙈🌟

"...just a young woman, her closest supernatural friends, a compromised safehouse, and a perilous mission. Typical Tuesday. Not that I'm even sure it's Tuesday." This would be a good blurb for this book. Another great installment in the Darklight series. The visuals in this are stunning and the storyline, as fantastic as it is, is believable. What I love most about this story, though, is the romance. It is so well done, so lovely and romantic. I couldn't wait to get to the next romantic scene and sometimes felt the action in between was too long, but then maybe that's part of what makes the romantic scenes so special. These two main characters are focused on the mission but never wavering in their desire to be together, even though that presents some very serious and painful challenges. One of the best romantic subplots I've read in a long time. This book in the series is heavy on fantasy, intrigue and conflict, which could honestly, be a tiny bit tedious at times. But, I love this series and am ready to head into book #5.

Proof that you shouldn't always trust reviews if you are enjoying a series. If I had I wouldn't have picked up Darkblood but my god am I glad I did.

I love the action in this installment and that I didn't see it coming. I had a feeling I knew where the story was going and then BOOM plot twist. My heart was already invested but by the time I was half way through this book I needed all the answers and more. I love Dorian and Lyra and their story and how their vampire/human family entwine in that story. I was so excited to be in the Immortal Plain and getting to finally to see how the vampires lived before and after the immortal council and how they destroy their world.

Now I can't wait to keep reading!

I am SO glad that this series isn't rainbows and sunshine. Characters are kidnapped, killed, tortured, experimented on and leave situations changed, positively and negatively.

The good:
-Action packed
-Character relationships (not the romance ones)
-Not everyone are on-board with everything. Always a discussion with strangers, semi hierarchy.

The not great:
-I feel like some of Lyra's observations on the rulers, that could possibly be important for others to know, are not relayed. (weight, effect with magic, etc)

So Exciting and Intense

I was not prepared for it to end when it did. There for a bit, I thought how are they going to get out of this. I thought it was awesome how it played. Well done Bella Forrest, as always. I was So happy that Lyra and Dorian got past the pain, not that I wanted them to endure what they had to in order to do so. I can’t wait to see what Bella has in store for us next.

This author never disappoints with her captivating plot twists and wonderful world building that transports you to different dimensions. I have to say to this day I've never read a book of hers that didn't leave me wanting to read more eagerly. Bella Forrest's Darklight series is absolutely original and amazing, I was so into the book that I neglected my own writing just to finish it, I couldn't put it down. Read this book series you won't regret it!

OMG! Fantastic series!

I am in love with this writer’s work! So exciting I can’t put it away! I read two books while waiting for one of my grandsons to be born and while my other daughter was laboring to have my other grandson I read Darkblood! I held babies in on hand and my phone in the other, it was that good. Now I am excited to read the next book in the series! Very good read!

Nobody is who they seem

So the adventure in the Immortal Plane was going well until the boys messed up. Shocker! lol. Of course the weak, non-magical, pesky human stepped up and saved the day by playing to the arrogance of those who thought themselves superior and major kudos for the mess and destruction the FMC and her companions made on the way out. Go big or go home. Actually, they did both. Now to figure out the new guy...

The addition of Prisoner One truly layered even more mystery into the fate of these characters. The mortal plane is in more danger than imagined and Lyra and Dorian can’t be within 15 feet of each other. How much worse can it be? Another heart pounding episode and I am thrilled with my inability to predict the outcome! Happily onto the next book in series! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

Love the adventures of Lyra & Dorian

The action is incredible, they go from the Mortal Plane to the Immortal Plane and continue to be the heroes to save the day by over coming impossible challenges. They risk it all to save both worlds. As the challenges get tougher they become allies with some very powerful beings, who make a pack with them to help them get back to the Mortal plane.

Power through readers! I was disappointed with this one. Felt like a huge filler for the overall storyline. It had its moments early on where it flowed well but it honestly did not pick up for me until 60-70% through. Lyra over shared every insecurity and thought. Once it picked up, it felt rushed compared to the rest of it. Still interested in this series and looking forward to the next book.

Great reading very enjoyable

Oh wow! I am glad that they were able to escape after being taken as prisoners and saved the other vampires that were captured. I can't wait to see what will happen next for Lyra and Dorian since they are able too touch and be close without pain and of course with now they are getting the help of the gate maker and what type of creature he is.

That was sooooo good! Apart from the fast paced action, which I totally love in a book, the writing was excellent too. You could literally feel the characters emotions coming off the pages as you read along! It really felt like you were there with Lyra, Dorian and the rest feeling their pain, grief, sadness, loss, etc.

Excellent read and I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!

Sometimes you want to read a dystopian novel just to get away from a dystopian society. A fun series including vampires, complicated relationships, battles, and other world societies. A fun series to read but bordering on PG 13 depending on your personal reading experience.
This series would make a great movie series for young adult readers.

Breathtaking!

Oh my gosh, I am so excited by this series of books. There is never a dull moment, it is practically exhausting reading it with so much going on! I am thoroughly addicted and barely want to do anything else! Thank you for this amazing series. Spoiler: by the way, I am so glad that a certain colourful person wasnt a baddy after all. I'm quite fond of him.

A Cool Series

This is a book series I found by happenstance. I am pleasantly surprised and really have enjoyed this very much. It's unique and imaginative! Much different than any other that I've read. It is one of those books/series that you don't know what you are going to read once you've reached the end of it!

Good read

This was slow to start and I thought it was a little bit boring in the beginning but halfway through I couldn't put it down. The information from the slow beginning made so much sense towards the end. Looking forward to the next book in this series!
