Born in Leeds, I lived a very normal life until I got bored one day and decided to travel the world. Since then I've worked on a Banana Plantation, cleaned ACDC's dressing room and been a professional clown.
I climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the top of Kilimanjaro. Nowadays you'll find me being a climbing frame for my two young children, working in a school, and renovating my home.
Did I also mention I wrote some books?
I hope you enjoy them!

Throne of sacrifice is the third book in the Rumpelstilskin arc of Kingdom of Fairytales by J.A. Armitage and Jennifer Ellision.

Eliana learn that Rumpelslitkin is not just a word. Its a person. Who gives deals. But at what cost? Her own mother once did a bargain with him and now he's back and he's responsible for the unicorns disappearance. And defeating won't be easy.

I have really loved this book. I have received an arc by the author.

J.A. Armitage’s Kingdom of Fairytales multi-series concept is really an ideal template - what happens after the “happily ever after” in classic fairytales - for multiple series, and she’s certainly taken advantage of it in multiple series either written by herself or co-authored with others. That’s certainly the case with the Kingdom of Fairytales: Rumpelstiltskin she’s coauthored with Jennifer Ellison. I’ve not read anything by the latter author previously but that’s one of the beauties of this over-arching multi-series collection: it introduces me to new authors with a sort of quality seal as I can trust that Armitage will choose her co-authors well. She absolutely did this time as each of the books in this series, Queen of Unicorns (Book 1), Heiress of Gold (Book 2), Throne of Sacrifice (Book 3) and Goddess of Loss (Book 4) was superbly written and the overarching story arc is perfect. Taking place 18 years after the end of the classic tale, Rumpelstiltskin is back in the Vale, unicorns are being hunted down and the heroine here, Eliana, is seemingly facing insurmountable odds. Ehss as t follows over the course of these four books is a really wonderful and exciting tale that’s easy to highly recommend and definitely makes me want to find more books by the co-author here (I’m already addicted to Armitage so reading her books is a given). One caveat: I’ve reviewed these all at once as this series really is best read from Book 1 on, though that’s actually easy to do as each is fast to read.

Just when it seems Eliana has a purpose in her life, the sudden issues with unicorns missing and Jay bringing confusion to her heart complicate her palace life. Under the emotions from a strange dream, she even seems to have made the biggest mistake in a long time, and trying to clear her head to understand where her heart really aches to be, she seems to have made even bigger mess. Nevertheless, she manages to fix something, only to face another shock caused by unexpected visit.
It is definitely an intriguing twist to see the golden eyed royalties appear before the very end of the miniseries. Hence I am already curious to see if they will be able to contribute in the fight with Rumpelstiltskin, and in the end convince Eliana to join their own quest, or if the plea will fail due to a newborn in the way. However, I really liked the development between Jay and Lia, and the evolution of Eliana's special abilities, the bond with the unicorns. Only the threat that has not yet fully surfaced remains now the open question - and it's not difficult with the nature of Rumpelstiltskin to guess when and how he plans to strike. The question is, how will the royal family find a way out of the bargain?

Eliana's headstrong and independent ways continue to headbutt with her mother's smothering protection. The tension and danger mounts in this installment - both for Eliana and the unicorns. Romantic tension builds as well as she wrestles with burgeoning attraction and feelings of betrayal.

There have been a few things that subtly reminded me of The Last Unicorn, but this book had a scene with undeniable parallels. Lots of future portends in the scene too!

Four golden eyed royals show up at the end of this book too - earlier than we have seen in previous books. Maybe a bit more of a hint about what the overarching connection might be?

Okay so... I have mixed feelings about this one, but they are about the main character, Eliana, and not the book itself. Because as it often happens, I don't like her that much but I like the book. I feel like she's a bit dumb and selfish but hey, those are real traits in lots of people, right? I can't wait to finish this part of the series !
