I said in my review of book 1 that I would reserve judgment till finished this book. And hooooooboy, I thought that this was a mess. The only thing that I liked whatsoever about this plot and this world were the familiars. That’s it. I’m not going to bother with any succeeding books. Sorry.

After only slightly enjoying the first novel, I can fully express that I do not like this second novel at al!. It did not flow well, especially with the ever changing P.O.V.'s that felt to cover all the characters the entire book.

What a great follow up to book one, The Dying Wolf answers some questions and ties in nicely.

So much happens in this book. We have mystical creatures, love, betrayal, action and Gods. I do not want to give anything away, but just that everything is making sense and you get what is going on better.

Anastasia is a great character. She does what she believes is right and is not afraid to be herself. I mean how are you supposed to act when you do not know anything about the world you have been thrust into? But she does it.

I am really getting into this series and I am loving it. Which is typical of a Gem read, she does know how to weave a good tale.

Holllyyy helll! That was so insanely good! Ana’s story continues picking up where book one ended. There are so many twists, turn, ups and downs. It kept me hooked and stressing over what was happening. I couldn’t put it down.
We get SO MANY answers in this book that we’ve been wanting so bad! I was freaking out, going through ALL THE EMOTIONS!!!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES! It will reel you in and keep you hooked!

This book too hooked me from the first page. We finally find out who Anastasia really is, and there is a development with the relationship with Alex, Liam and Mason.

This was fantastic!!!

So many questions were answered from the last book and everything seems to be coming together now. The mystery and obscurity finally have some clarity for Anastasia in this world of familiars.

It was so easy to lose myself in this world of fantastical creatures, Gods, love, betrayal, and heart stopping action. I love Ana as a female character because of her firm stance on being who she wants to be and doing what she thinks is right. She had been thrown into a world that is unfamiliar to her and she’s being pulled and swayed from all around to choose a side. Most people would buckle under the pressure and choose what they think is the safest for them, but Ana knows both sides have ill intent and plan to do what is right for everyone. That takes a courageous person...the right choice is rarely the easiest choice.

I am excited to read the final book of the series to see how the conflict between Bethany and Ana plays out.

Oh my goodness this book! All the twists and turns and surprises makes this such an addicting read. Anastasia has so many different things dropped on her at the same time that it is amazing to see how she deals with each secret that is revealed. She has her guys there to support her and keep her safe as best they can from the craziness that is her family. I love watching them grow closer together and their interactions can be quite steamy. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

The 2nd book from The Familiar Empire trilogy, picks up right after the mini cliffy from book 1 where Anastasia with the help of Liam, Mason & Alex must pick a side or choose option 3 when they've made a plan? We meet new characters & enemies. Without unknowingly giving spoilers away (which I tend to do that has been pointed out to me numerous times that I shouldn't do), you just have to read the book to understand. I can't wait to read the final book.

Wow 😯

This book has taken me by surprise time and time again up until the very end. The added chapters with Bethany’s POV were a great addition to the book, though I’m glad there were only 3. A lot of questions from the previous book were answered and so much of the sisters past was uncovered.. yet there are so many more layers than expected! I’m so mad I read this right away because the cliffhanger left me with *so* many new questions.

So, I'm not all that sure what to think about this book, while there were good elements, I felt it was rushed, not cohesive and well, I'm kinda disappointed.

Worldbuilding:
This was good, as we moved around the two mansions, the city and the various environments in between, there wasn't any moment where I was scratching my head, unsure where we were or what happened. All scenes were clear and detailed.

Character development:
I think this is where I had the most issue within this instalment. After a kiss, Ana is worried what the others would think but then takes it a lot further without pretty much any hesitation? It just doesn't make any sense.
While we indeed get to know more about the backstory of our characters, I still don't feel like we know them. It all just felt very superficial. Their animals are so important, but you hardly read about them... which is a shame cause this is such an interesting concept.
And don't get me started on Bethany, that's one piece of the puzzle I really don't understand.

Pacing and flow:
While I read the book in one go, I have to say that the book felt rushed. I would have loved it if the author took her time and fleshed out the characters more (more feelings, more insights,...). The POV's changed and in my opinion, this was a good thing since I love to read from another perspective as well (but that's just me).

The book:
The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) mistakes and yep, there is sex described (if that is important to you).

All in all:
I liked the potential the plot and characters had in book one, and the ending of this book makes me want to read the next instalment as well, but it will be a while before I will.

She cant believe her sister is a familiar too!

She's so different, so cold and callous not the girl she remembers at all.

As her new world shifts and reshapes again she is introduced to her family. But where is the love?

She's given a choice that simply doesn't have enough options. Which is the lesser evil.. Her Aunt or her Uncles..?

I loved the introduction to this new and unique series with "The lost wolf", and I honestly didn't think it could get any better but my gosh it did!

Steamy scenes that will leave you gasping for breath, evil beings who are harsh and uncaring. Innocent children and friends who have inescapable debts. This book literally has it all!

Ana continues to wow me with her level head and inner strength. Her connection to Shadow is amazing they are like one being.

Her stealthy sneaky boys stepped up well and truly in this book, and they stole my heart away!

I've given up trying to decide between them I'm more than happy to take them all!

G. Bailey is definitely an author I'm glad I stumbled across I simply can't get enough of her books!

The Dying Wolf is a fast paced and exciting second book in the Familiar Empire series.

In this book Ana learns the truth about her family and what is really going on in the world of Familiars. Nothing is as it seems as Ana is pulled in several directions, torn between family members and her men. But through it all she stays true to what she knows is right, no matter how difficult it proves to be.

I really like this world Gem has created. I love the idea of familiars and how they interact with their bonded. But for me this story is just a little all over the place. We do get a lot more answers in this book that I had after reading the first, but I am still a little lost in some aspects. I'm sure more will come together in the next book, but in this one there was just a lot thrown at us in a short amount of time that I'm still trying to work through.

I am looking forward to the next (and possibly last?) book in this series. Hopefully everything will become more clear and we will get a big explanation on that insane cliffhanger that Gem left us with!

Bethany, the oldest of the three girls, transforms the same day as Anastasia but is whisked away by her boyfriend to the North American Capital City of the Familiar Empire to an Aunt that she never knew she had. When she arrives , though, she is forced to join the rival family of her three uncles with her own familiar, a white wolf named Dawn.
Anastasia is kidnapped by her own sister and wakes up in the same city. There she is united with Shadow her huge Wolfe Familiar as well as her youngest sister Phoebe. On the palace of her evil aunt Courtney. Thankfully Alexander, Mason and Liam are looking for her.
And the adventure continues.
The author has succeeded in creating a sequel to a story that captivates the reader from the start .
Physical attraction, secrets, family roots discovery, a dictatorial society, mysteries, targeted preys and, multiple twists and turns make this story a must read that I recommend strongly and rate 5 Stars.

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Anastasia is going through A LOT!!! Especially for someone so young. She leaves about her complicated history of her genealogy, is forced to make a choice on where she wants to stay, a choice between her sisters, sees her older sister has changed, and is conflicted with her 3 men. I mean that is too much for one person to handle I think.

But Anastasia does really well adjusting to every new thing that is revealed to her and she is very smart. I love Skye. Phoebe is a bit naive and, well, a kid, but Skye has been through a lot.

I'm also super excited about that ending and I'm so glad i have book 3 to dive into!

This is a really great series- I'm really enjoying it!

Omg Gem is at it again! Just finished this book and I’m even more hooked than I was in the first one. I really can’t wait for book three to see how this story ends!

I mean “Wow Gem” the twist at the end her parents are alive and have been this whole time?! It makes me wonder why leave the girls behind tho? I’m sure these questions will be answered in due time. Definitely can’t wait to see how you tie this all up! And them boys Mason, Liam, and Alex yum lol! I wonder how they respond to Ana being pregnant and which one is the father? So many questions!

The Dying Wolf Review

Another great book by G. Bailey! I just love Anastasia and her men, Mason, Alex, and Liam. Can not forget about their familiars to as they are just as awesome. I also adore Skye and Phoebe as well as Dorothy! Bethany though has truly went off the deep end now and I just hope Anastasia is prepared after everything that is revealed in the last few chapters. Can not wait for the next book to read what is going to happen next!

There is so much going on is this story, there's no to stop reading. The story sucked me in from the beginning. It's well written with exciting plot twists. I need book 3!!!

This book was a bit confusing, I'm just not sure how they go from loving sisters to what this one brought about. The rest of everything went along pretty well. I think the relationships between her and her guys could have used a bit more development but I see where the backstory and other elements probably took priority and the book probably was getting long. I'm interested in finding out where the third book takes the story and how her little surprise addition survives a war.

Holy crap! Pick up where we left off and Ana finds herself at her Aunt's house. She gets to see the city of Familiars and of course the guys. It gets pretty intense with what her aunt wants and what her uncles are planning as well. There's of course hot 🔥 moments with the guys! But damn now I need the next book! That ending..had me crying ugh.

As a huge fan of the first book in this series, I was so excited to read this finally! Amazing! G Bailey has created yet another amazing world, so similar to our own but so much richer. I love how much this story progresses the over arcing storyline. Talk about ripping your heart out! I couldn't put this book down. If you are looking for the next great reverse harem series, here it is!
