An Unpredictable & Unforgettable Mystery Thriller With A Side Of Romance!
Overview: In the aftermath of a small town double murder, two women struggle to find answers while balancing life and love. At the center of it all lies the Tombora Springs’ Lonely Hearts Complex.

One thing that true mystery fans simply cannot abide is a predictable plotline—Thank goodness, SK Wee’s “Lonely Hearts Complex” is anything but. This tangled tale centers on a group of townspeople—all tied together by six-degrees of separation—whose former relationships have mostly gone bad. As the plotline unwinds, and a double murder is discovered, readers are pulled into the individual characters’ stories by the intriguing circumstances the author divulges about their pasts.

Wee’s main characters deal with devastating personal loss, new neighbors and old acquaintances unexpectedly cropping up, questionable relationships, and romances gone bad. The author leaves ample room for suspicion over who can be identified as an innocent bystander, and who is responsible for a savage and despicable double murder. Although the tension in this tale runs high, the budding romances are steamy, and the mounting hospitalizations put readers on edge, Wee adds a sense of homey warmth and familiarity with the addition of a precocious 8-year-old child and various animals, like horses and dogs, placed at the center of her main protagonists’ lives.

SK Wee’s immersive mystery romance thriller can be read in the span of just one afternoon or evening. This is an unforgettable who-done-it with an unpredictable and unexpected ending. I highly recommend this read for anyone who loves short mystery thrillers with a side of romance, ages 17 and up.

In this fast paced read you essentially get two stories twined in one. I was amazed at how much story fit into a novella. There are two women, very different, and two romances, also very different. I liked that they both explored relationships with challenges. Ruth resonated more with me, probably due to our ages being closer and maybe because Marsh struck me as my kind of hero. ;) I would have loved to have seen more details about what happened with Riley and her love interest, which I won't spoil because I enjoyed that I didn't see it coming. Great read and I look forward to more.

This was good, like really good. But wasn't perfect.

I read more about this book, and it is actually a novella. Being short, it fell flat a little bit for me in terms of plot and story line. I loved the writing and the author's voice, but I really wished she would have fleshed this out a bit more. I wasn't connected to any of the characters because the author did not take the time to really get inside their heads and emotions. I wanted to know why they did what they did, but with little to no backstory I was left wondering why all the time.

Beth is a pretty important character in the book, but she never makes an appearance. There is no dialogue and no scenes exposing Beth's relationship to her sister Ruth (who is one of the main characters). And there's an important scene at the hospital that we never see, but is only a memory later in the book.

This book had potential, but it should not have been a novella.

It is about two women living in a small town and how their lives are parallel in this story. Small town living where secrets are hidden until it comes to light. It shows how everyone seems to be tied in without knowing at times. It was an interesting read.

This may be short, but it is fully packed with mystery and romance. Would have given it five stars except for the same sex relationships. No intimate details given, so not offensive. This was won on Goodreads. Happy to be introduced to this author. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Potential, but the story somehow misses the target. I must admit that i am uncomfortable with graphic same-sex details. Sorry, it simply disappointed me
