Lucinda and her family divided their time between the U.K. and a farmhouse in West Cork, Ireland, where she wrote her books.
Really enjoyed every book! Kept me busy during COVID shutdown. Very anxious to read the last book in the series. I hope the author explains more about Pa Salts life.
I never in my life believed that I would commit to reading 7 books in a series. I rejected the idea originally until several of my friends made strong recommendations to me about reading the seven books in this series written by Lucinda Riley. The series is made up of the books: The Seven Sisters, The Storm Sister, The Sun Sister, The Shadow Sister, The Moon Sister, The Pearl Sister, The Missing Sister. These books should be read in order and are usually available through libraries or Libby. Book One, The Seven Sisters, sets up the premise of what the other books will be about and we learn that a wealthy businessman adopted 6 babies, adopting them in many settings throughout the world. A housekeeper and a cook help Pa Salt, as this man is called, raise these girls in a privileged home, filled with love and happiness. When Pa Salt dies suddenly, each girl is given clues as to their place of birth and encourages them to explore the events that led them to their adoption. Each book tells the story of each sister. In each book genealogy and historical fiction come together to enrich the reader’s experience through different cultures and interesting and surprising events. Every one of these books make for a great read in themselves, however, I believe they should be read in order. I highly recommend digging into this series.
I really enjoyed the whole series, about six adopted girls (the seventh is a mystery) and their very diverse lives. A mix of travel, romance, history and mystery, with a sprinkle of magic as the girls are all named after the seven sisters, as in the Pleaides star cluster. All lived together in their younger years in a paradisiac mansion called Atlantis... Sadly, Lucinda Riley left us recently (RIP dear Lucinda), but not before she wrote the full series (I believe...) culminating with what happened to Pa Salt, the adoptive father. Who was he exactly? Why was he so rich? Is he actually dead or in hiding? No one read the first six books will be able to resist finding out ... At least not me! Lucinda Riley's passing is a great loss to the literary world.
I listened to all 8 books - 172 hours total listening - one right after the other last summer! I loved every single book and character. The preface of Pa Salt dying and giving each of his adopted daughters clues to their pasts was compelling. Each book took me to a different country and back 3 generations. Each one was the best story I d ever been told. I’ve recommended them to so many friends who feel the same way. Thank you Lucinda Riley. May you rest in peace.
Totally recommend this series. Took awhile to figure out characters but after that I was away. Basically read each book over a week. Could not put them down.
Great stories binding past with present and using historical events to guide the plot. Compulsive reading and read all 7 within a month. And the when the Story of Pa Salt came out, read them all again to find the clues.
I started reading this series during Covid while moving to Lausanne, Switzerland, on Lake Geneva, which first intrigued me as the book's family home is based on the lake near Geneva. With the pandemic lockdowns, I had plenty of time to read. The series kept me intrigued and interested as each book in the series takes you on a unique journey, yet still so many unanswered questions.
The story opens by revealing a family of sisters with a lavish lifestyle as they enter adulthood learning of a family secret that will change the course of their lives. In true Lucinda Riley form, she introduces the characters as they meet together at the family home, then starts to unravel their personalities, the complexity of how they are all connected, and how and why their journeys to discover their unique lives across continents have just begun.
The final book of the series solves the biggest looming mystery beautifully. Intelligent, loving stories, the bond of relationships, family secrets that stay silent for generations, is masterfully interwoven across continents. Riley is a master of building and revealing just enough of the story to keep you wanting more.
I don't think you can review each book on it's own it. The series must be read as a whole and when you do you see the masterpiece that Lucinda (RIP) made.
I admit that many of the sisters are a bit annoying, and I often got frustrated with the petty behaviour, and when they just seemed so daft.
HOWEVER, reading the books as a series is the way to do it. Some books seem better written than others, and sometimes you just need to tough it out with some patience but I thoroughly enjoyed the series, and look forward to when Lucinda's son completes the 8th and final book telling us Pa Salts story.
Every single one of these books is so thoughtfully and beautifully written. It's like you're taken into the world within the book. I have never been so immersed in a series of books before, and couldn't stop reading. You can tell a lot of passion, dedication and research has gone into these books to make sure they are the most accurate and life like scenes, where you can just imagine yourself in the life of the character!
I really enjoyed this series of books. I loved they that each one takes place in a different part of the world and you learn a bit more about each country and get a sense of what it feels like to be there, in the past and the present. Some of the books dragged on a bit, and had me scanning across the pages to get to the next interesting bit. But all in all I enjoyed it and read all the books fairly quickly.
I have read all of the Seven Sisters Series available so far and I love every one of the stories. I eagerly await Atlas Pay Salts story which is due to be released next year
Crying because of a beautiful ending and because this series is over. I loved it. A story of 7 sisters and their adoptive dad and how they all find themselves and each other. It was beautiful and heartbreaking and heartwarming. I loved and hated so many characters and really enjoyed dipping in and out of this series and their lives for the last month.
Five stars aren’t nearly enough for the Seven Sisters series! Each book is incredible, and the final one completely surpassed all expectations. The truth about PA’s life was nothing like what we thought we knew—it was surprising, emotional, and unforgettable.
I highly recommend this series to everyone—it’s a journey you’ll never forget!
A brilliant way to commence retirement . Lost in the world of Pa Salt and his 7 daughters . A brilliant style of writing by Lucinda . Writing in the present and then taking the reader into a journey of the past and history of what has happened in our world 100 yrs ago . I’m left mesmerised and wanting more . Hence : I purchased all her books .
Listening to the series. On book 7. The Missing Sister. Goid entertainment on my walks. A bit sappy at times but full of interesting history around the world. A bit unbelievable the concept of 7 sisters being adopted by a man from around the world to live in Geneva - but hey it is fiction.
I enjoyed this series for light entertainment. I would recommend reading each in between other books, as they each follow a similar plot line, but it was enjoyable learning the story of the Seven Sisters and their Pa.
If you are looking for a totally gripping series with historical fiction, friendship, love, challenge and all the feels, this is it! Lucinda Riley absolutely nailed it creating wonderful stories and incorporating a lot of interesting parts of world history into her novels.
These books are truly amazing and I am sure I will read them all once more. To follow each of the Seven Sisters on their journeys to different countries, cultures and histories is all you can ask for when coming up with a book!
This is such a fantastic series of books. Totally recommend if you’re looking for a new series. It’s gripping from book 1 all the way to final book and it’s a really good wrap up despite Lucinda Riley passing away. Her son did a wonderful job finishing up what she started.
What a series, I read this in unison with my late grandmother, we had such lovely chats about the twists and turns of the characters and plots. This series is a blessing, the readers can be in their thirties or seventies and still enjoy it immensely. Thank you
