GM Stephenson was born in Trenton, Michigan. She wrote her first book at seven years old. It was about a cat and was illustrated by GM. Many years later she decided to stop writing short stories, poetry, and journals that would remain hidden and set out to publish her first novel.
GM has been married for 28 years and has a 26-year-old daughter. She lives in Kentucky with her gentleman farmer husband and a troop of Great Danes. She spends as little time in the real world as possible, choosing instead to live in the worlds she creates.
