DNF......are people crazy? This story is horrible. I got 75% through it and should have stopped sooner. What a disappointment! Okay, so I was expecting something a little more funny at first like if Paris Hilton went on Survivor but could appreciate Coralie getting something akin to a southern backbone but the story took a straight down nose dive when they fell through the hole. Alice in Wonderland this is not. The partying, etc? Really? and the other main characters behaved completely ‘out of character’ from the first two books. Shoot, I even had the release date on my calendar, I was so looking forward to this book. That’s all I will say before my comments are riddled with spoilers because I could go on. What happened?

Written in first person by AVA YORK & STARR HUNTRESS, Cedroc is book 3 of the VAZNIK WARRIORS series and switches perspectives between Cedroc and Coralie. Based in a time where aliens are known to humans, and there is a lottery that selects females for compatibility testing to the Mahdfel warriors in exchange for protection against the enemy Suhlik.

Thirty-year-old Coralie Sinclare was a spoiled little rich girl and daddy's money, power and influence had kept her out of the lottery testing. She refused to contribute to society whatsoever, spending Daddy's money while having everything handed to her on a silver platter. Her father finally had enough of her irresponsible freeloading and refusal to get a job. So when she came home late one night after partying, her father (Erikson Sinclare) had a crew waiting to enter Coralie into the lottery. He meant it as a scare tactic, not really expecting his only heir to be matched and teleported away. But when her blood results came back a match, Erikson instantly regretted his haste decision. If he wanted to force his daughter to straighten out her behavior, why didn't he just, I dunno... CUT HER OFF? You know... take away every luxury that he controlled or supplied and force her to figure shit out on her own? No more credit cards, maids, chefs, breakfast in bed, chauffeurs, clothes, apartment, etc. Either she got a job and earned her keep, or she slept with the homeless under a bridge? But no, his brilliant idea was to enter her into the lottery, which he spent money to avoid for years. For a supposedly intelligent and wealthy man, he sure was dumb. Anyway, I digress. Coralie was teleported immediately to join her mate on Gravum IV, where she truly believed everything was an elaborate scheme set up by her father, and the aliens were all paid actors meant to scare her and teach her a lesson.

Cedroc was the green-skinned pilot of the Calliope, bred to be a Vaznik/Mahdfel warrior (slave to the Suhlik). The last book left off with the crew still stuck on a mission on Gravum IV, searching for a hidden relic believed to be buried underground.

In this book, the frustrating mission was more of the same. Instead, the focus was surrounded around Coralie and her dramatic spoiled childish behavior. Even her own mate loathed her character. Unlike her mate, however, I never stopped disliking Coralie. Once we got past her temper tantrums and melt downs, the group was able to make very little progress in their mission. Coralie left camp to follow a light in the middle of the desert, which resulted in the couple coming face-to-face with a native tribe of Qitzal (bird-like creatures that had occupied the planet for thousands of years). Coralie befriended the Qitzal and the tribe informed her that the important artifact they were searching for was located in the deepest underground cavern, and they recommended to leave it alone because it was cursed. A scouting party of 5 Suhlik stumbled upon them, and Cedroc single handedly took them out while Coralie had another one of her dramatic "moments." Along their journey, the couple fell in love.

The Vaznik Mahdfel have mating tattoos that glow white when they are in the presence of their one true mate. Cedroc's mating tattoos glowed upon meeting Coralie, confirming the lottery test results. The couple finally had intercourse for the first time around the 57% mark (way too long of a wait IMHO). We were treated to two sexual encounters, both of which were "meh." To quote Jim Carrey in Liar, Liar... "I've had better." Or in this case, "I've read better."

This book was much longer than necessary. The adventure to romance ratio was unbalanced and left wanting. The drama was stupid. I knew I was going to despise this book after getting to know Coralie's character in the first chapter. I'm torn between ditching this series altogether or speed reading the remainder simply because I'm already half way through and invested. I recommend NOT falling down the same rabbit hole that I did.

Coralie was my least favorite, she did improve in the end but the progress was not what I really wanted.

Our story begins with Coralie, a rich spoiled brat who has been given every privilege you could think of. Her father pays for everything and in return he expects her to stop partying and take up some responsibilities. She refuses to grow up and so he does the unthinkable and stops protecting her from the treaty. This treaty states that for earth's protection a single female must be tested and if a fated match is found among the alien races in this treaty, the female is transported to their mate. Now there are several things wrong with this system, and I'm not upset that Coralie's father kept her out of the system for years, what parent wouldn't do that for their child? What does upset me is Coralie's reaction. Now we go to the spoilers

Yes, Coralie does improve little by little, but part of me doesn't think it's enough. I definitely think that Cerdoc deserved better.

The next Vaznik warrior is ready to fall. Well, maybe "ready" isn't the right word. Cedroc doesn't exactly EXPECT a human woman to suddenly appear when the crew is stuck on a planet in the middle of nowhere and he certainly doesn't expect she'll be his special someone, but she does and she is and he kinda doesn't have a choice other than to go with the flow.

Frankly, Coralie doesn't seem suited to life with a warrior out exploring the far reaches of space on the whims of their higher command. She's flighty and entitled and has zero survival skills. But she figures things out. Eventually. You know, once she gets over her shock at being matched and whisked away to a seemingly deserted planet that seems kind of inhospitable at first glance.

A little danger, new allies, and two people who don't seem like they'd fit, but somehow do just that. I'm still not loving how the female half of the matches are processed and jettisoned out without any training or time to acclimate to what's happening, but I do enjoy watching two people work their way through their differences and get all relationshippy.

Immature bratty heiress meets serious responsible Vaznik/Mahdfel warrior

Coralie is a bratty woman in her thirties who gives out and parties every night like a young college kid. She is an heiress so daddy's money pays for anything she wants. He has paid to keep her out of the genetic testing. But as he tries to get her to grow up and accept responsibility something doesn't go according to his plan and she is transported instantly to her mate.
Cedroc doesn't want a mate. He likes his quiet time and doesn't want to have to worry about anyone but his team.
When they meet she shows her dramatic yelling, crying, throwing a fit side.
Will she ever mature into a person he could love or will she alienate everyone by her partying attitude? What happens when the Suhlik make an appearance?
I personally didn't care for the heroine but I did enjoy the story.

Cedric and Coralie

Cedroc is the pilot and never wanted a mate, but one he got. Carolie is the pampered daughter of a billionaire who likes nothing better than spending money and partying. To scare he into being responsible he had her tested never dreaming she would be a match and teleported immediately. She wants to go home and cries and pouts at first but when they take off toward a light and literally fall into the tunnels of a tribe of winged, insect type beings. They drink, eat and party with them and make an alliance with the king. They get to know one another, fight Sudliks and fall in love. She doesn't want to leave him. Their group is blessed with magic and start to prepare to get the relic being warned that the relic is cursed and in the territory of others that are not as friendly.

Cedroc #3 03/30/2022

While exploring the underground caves looking for the artifact Cedroc and Kyre some of his things started to beep when he takes out a teleportation pad it is trying to teleport something in or someone. And it’s someone Corilic. She just had a very big fight with her billionaire father. Thinking he would just scare her to be more responsible it back fired because she was a 99% match and she was sent to her matches right away. That’s how she came to Cedroc in a less then there evening gown. And at first she thinks it a joke but soon finds out it real. After she gets herself together she starts to find more about herself. Even with danger around them. Cedroc isn’t sure he want a mate and this one might be useless but soon finds he likes her. So enjoy this good read and see what kind of danger brings these two together!!

Just keeps getting better and better

Man, this book is a hoot. Entitled princess gets sent to a dusty, dirty planet to be with her Mahdfel mate. Except she spends a bunch of time thinking her daddy is plunking her like on candid camera. Cedroc, who we know and love from previous books Rekker and Kyre, is at a loss with what to do with her. York builds on the previous stories and the Vaznik Mahdfel world grows richer as the story unfolds. Love the characters, the action and adventure and the bits of fun that are in this story, as well as the deep connection that builds between the two heroes. Liked this series so much I bought them all and pre-ordered the upcoming releases. Can’t go wrong with Ava York!

No..just no

I hated the main female protagonist instantly, and it never really got better after that. My dislike of her was so intense that I just wanted her to go ahead and expire, so that Cedroc could get a mate who was at least tolerable. Coralie was spoiled, self-centered, stupid, and utterly useless. I wound up skimming through the book just to find out what was happening with the main objective story arc of the series.

This series has been a bit rough after having read the Sangrin Mahdfel series first. I have to wonder if there is any coordination among the authors writing the Mahdfel stories, or if they even read each other’s books, because there are so many differences. Even the testing protocols are different. It’s rather off-putting.

What to do when the main character is so unlovable. So bad to imagine how to love the story. Never the less its quite intriguing what author will do to redeem the character. I mean the bratty, spoiled, naive daddies girl leaves a massive first impression and it took me most of the book to get over it. But then you know, even the worst people deserve love, so I can’t complain. Cedroc is a strange character as well, I don’t know if I figured him out really. But I like that love makes people change and even if Coralie seamed too naive, clueless and sheltered for her 30 years, she was willing to learn and accepted changes more than easily. Im kinda more excited about the mystery item they need to find and can’t wait for the next book to see if they finally get to it.

A Wonderful Sci-Fi Romance .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Cedroc . I really enjoyed reading this story . Cedroc is the third book in the Warriors of Vaznik series . Cedroc is the pilot of the Caliope . He likes being alone and is use to being alone . Coralie is a spoiled rich party girl .
She thinks she won't be part of the matching contract , but her father is tired of her ways . She is matched and surprise Cedroc gets a mate . . Will Party girl Coralie be helpful or a huge hindrance . This story is action filled , steamy and quite humorous , truely delightful .
I highly recommend reading .

Cedroc never thought he would be matched with a human female, and one look at her, he knew she would be hi maintenance. Carolie is privileged and spoiled rotten. When she arrives at her penthouse after a night of parting, she is met by her father and a team of scientists to match her up with a mate. He wanted to scare her into responsibility, but to his surprise, she is matched and sent to Cedroc immediately. I enjoyed how these two got together with passion and understanding. I am voluntarily leaving a review of this ARC.

This is the third human mate to join this group. She, like the other brides, is very reluctant to be there. Unlike the others, she’s a rich, spoiled, brat who thinks only of her herself and her wants. It’s interesting to watch her come around...to start to be aware of others and their needs. In other words, she starts to become a productive member of the group. Her mate, never wanted a mate. It’s fun to see how one little, helpless human can change his perception of all a mate can do and be. Add to that some danger and excitement and you’ve got a book you won’t want to put down.

Cedroc gets his match

Coralie does not accept her situation at first, her life had been one huge party and now it wasn't. She gets up to speed pretty fast then she and Cedroc have and adventure. I was into most of this book, but there is a lot of exposition. I admit that I skimmed a little over the details at parts. Mostly the story was easy to read with a nice flow and some life of death situations.

The warriors are on a secret mission when Cedroc's teleport brings him his fated mate. He'd rather not have one especially one as this spoiled socialite. Coralie's father wanted to scare her into responsibility and never thought she would get matched when he ambushed her with the testing. I have read this series out of order, but doesn't take away from the story line. I loved this series and the great characters.

Not at all what I expected but so good nonetheless

We continue off from book 3 with the whole crew still looking for an unknown artifact that upper command need when a new human woman is brought into the fold. Unlike our other 2 heroines, this one is a pampered billionaire's daughter and sole heir. This book has some great moments and the playful banter is pretty funny, all in all I really enjoyed this book.

Wonderful and Adventurous

The book was just as great as all the previous ones and holds your attention from beginning to end. Packed with adventure, action, humor, drama, and a romance that is hot that it sizzles with awesome characters. You will not be disappointed in any way with this book and definitely a must buy.

I’m outta here

Ok. This series bugs me more and more. I’m faced with a multi-thread mystery in the midst of an ongoing space war and yet another Vaznik Mahdfel grumpus getting his fated human bimbo, Er, mate... Trouble is this potentially great storyline is rendered snoggerigly BORING by the plodding and awkward writing. I quit. Zzz...

Warlord Brides

Just when I think it can't get better than the book I just read, the next book proves me wrong. Exciting and fun through out the whole story. Cedric and Fern. Total opposites but perfect for each other. I loved the way they met and how their relationship progressed. Can't wait to start the next book! Thank goodness I don't have too.

Intergalactic good times

A spoiled, party brat & a snarky, independent alien. She's is SO not ready for this. He is absolutely sure he does not want a mate. Throw in some flying space people, a hostile lizard race, and a hunt for an ancient artifact. Exciting & sexy times ensue.

Was not as clean cut as the first two.

This one jumped around to much and was really fragmented. The story didn't flow smoothly. I even got lost a little bit and had to back up and reread some parts to try and figure out what was going on.

Didn’t make it past the first few pages when the main chick was an entitled party girl who was given everything to her by her dad. I’m sure there is a story arc of her becoming more mature and growing up, but I didnt stick around to read it.

Not bad

Are they ever going to find the mysterious ancient artifact? Are they going to like each other? Well, of course they will like each other eventually. It's a romance novel of course.
