Good read. Book 3 in the Guardians series. Guardians are warriors who are offered the choice to stay and protect humans by fighting demons who slip through the many portals between them and the demon worlds. Those who accept become immortal, those who don't move on. Yes it is similar to Kenyon's Dark Hunter books - but without the convoluted elements [Apollites, Aphrodite's whims, etc:] that can tie up a Dark Hunter plot. Fast action-oriented plot, good characters and a hunky Celtic warrior - who can ask for more of a simple entertainment read?
Silhouette Nocturne is one of the weirdest and most wonderful Harlequin imprints. This one was set in Ireland and dealt with "Guardians" (demon fighters). The heroine is a member of a society that is vaguely defined (maybe it's better outlined in the previous books) who is there to help a gruff Guardian named Rogan. Her sister is kidnapped and she teams up with Rogan to save her. The tension between them is great, the sensuous scenes are sizzling. Child is good at describing action and the plot moves along pretty quickly. I appreciate the details of their connection, the telepathy, for example, without being too confusing. Decent writing, great sex scenes, and interesting romance and plot and nice details of Ireland.

Alison Blair has come to Ireland to give guardian, Rogan Butler, a message from a seer and a piece of her mind about his responsibilities to the Society they both work for.
While giving Rogan her earful, her sister has gone missing. In reporting Casey's disappearance to the authorities, she notices that there are a lot of tourists going missing in that area. In trying to find Casey, she finds the last folks to see her and after that draws a blank.
Rogan himself notices that there seems to be something wrong and then realizes that he's picking up on Alison's stress, so goes seeking her out... After that their past history (Alison having many past lives, to Rogan's immortality) comes to light and they both have to deal with past and present history as well as finding whose kidnapping the tourists from the demon world.
This book read a little faster than a lot of them do, but some of the story was very predictable.
Yet another book my mother sent me. This one was not looking better than the last one she sent me. I wasn't impressed with the first few chapters and overall my first impression was right. Upon finishing this book I would definitely NOT recommend anyone to read this book. It was not just a cheesy romance novel with a very thin and predictable plot behind the romance, but it was too intimately descriptive for my taste. I almost didn't want to keep reading. I felt like I was intruding on something very personal even though I knew that the characters were fictional. In fact even though there were only two sections of the book with "that" in it, I just couldn't get past it to focus on the main storyline which was predictable and only slightly entertaining.
Yah, another 3 1/2 stars rating.
Udah baca 3 buku, malah makin penasaran aja, haha.
Back to novel... di novel ini, saya malah seneng banget sama alam Irlandia nya... Sempet cerita ke temen cowok yang emang devoted to Ireland, dan langsung bercita-cita ke Irlandia bareng. Ireland is amazing!!
2.5 stars This is book 3 in the Guardians series. Once again, I'm underwhelmed by the heat of a Harlequin Nocturne book. The main story is OK, the characters are OK, the chemistry between the leads is OK, the sex is OK, the writing is OK. BUT the understory is very intriguing regarding the demon dimension and the impending war with the humans was pretty interesing and if that carried on into a different series I would be willing to read it.
This is the story of Rogan and Alison. He is a Immortal Guardian and she is an American traveling with her sister. She meets Rogan and they realise that they are Destined Mates. At first, Rogan is in denial because his previous destined mate has died. He believes that he can only have one distined mate. Then Alison's sister is kidnapped and they have to work together to fight demons.
Once again, this is another example of "Never judge a book by its cover." The cover screams cheesy, but I've read other works by this same author and remember enjoying them despite the romance. This one bordered erotic at times, but the supernatural element kept me reading on. It was a decent story with strong characters.
kasih 4.5 bintang... suka banget ama alur ceritanya yang cepat dan so sweet... rogan butler nya keren walo keukeuh banget menghindar dari ce pasangan takdir nya...tapi namanya jodoh gak kemana :p endingnya rogan jadi manusia biasa...gak jadi immortal lagi...yah gpp lah....biarkan dia hidup bahagia bersama alyson :D

Read this before joining Goodreads era, so I rated this just by what I feel after I finish read. So sad that Harlequin Nocturne titles was abolished, although some book can be pretty ho-hum (like this one), some titles are worth to read
