Fandom: Harry Potter Relationships: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter, James Potter/Lily Evans Potter, Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley -------------------------------------------------- Curses, James and Lily Potter ride again, several Ministry balls, a teenage Summer of Love, a grim young adult dystopian winter, a few different Draco Malfoys, secrets and the problems re: not having any, alternate lives, impossible lives, real lives, allusions to Dirty Dancing, and just because it's not called the Mirror of Erised doesn't mean you shouldn't know better.
this is so embarrassing but i absolutely have to rate this because i haven’t stopped thinking abt it since i read it and i’ve fully jumped on this ship. every time i think abt this fic i tear up bc they had it all!! they had it all and then they had each other. this is the most perfect thing i’ve ever ever ever read. friends if u see this i’ve gone insane do not engage <3 (aira this was what i was reading when i sent u that cursed picture) and if u know how to bind books i request one of these for my bday, christmas, anything (but not for profit bc that would be wrong)
5 stars… The first 100 pages I was lost… as I was supposed to be I realized and then I was sad… by design and then I was along with Harry ready to step right back through but I’m glad it worked out and the last line made me laugh.
brilliant holy shit. posh pretentious thematic heavy handed-ness that worked so unbelievably well. 2nd read was 100x better than the first one
the plot? lowkey completely nonsensical but the author knew how to not dwell (HA.) on those moments and keep it moving to serve the messaging of the story. fascinating because where most theme-heavy fics fail is in their plot-writing (and inevitable plot-holes, given aforementioned theme-heaviness) this one manages to perfectly glide over them and make them seem if not sensible perfectly reasonable. genuinely impressive
4.5 i loved this!! the first half was so cute and then i gasped but i don’t wanna spoil anything so 🤫 the ending confused me a lot but tbh i don’t care 😭
This story is so tender hearted and poignant and heart-breaking and stirring.
It opens up with an alternate universe and that's all I'll say here but it is an excellent read into Harry and Draco's deepest desires and it is so heartfelt and emotional and touching and sad. And beautifully written.
(Once again, a lot of casual touching between friends by this author, which seems out of place and character to me.)
Draco and Harry's behavior to each other is also the author's usual blend of love and hate. And the lesson at the end a statement about realistic love.
I loved the first part of the story, it was really sweet and I loved to see what Drarry could have been if they had had more normal lives. I liked the idea of the curse however the motives of the people who cast it should have been more clear. I liked seeing reality hit Harry and seeing him grieve. The story was very depressing once the truth was revealed.
This was an unexpected love for me. I didn’t know what it was about going into it, then when I thought I knew it did a complete 360 on me. It was both wonderfully shocking and so well executed. I am still endlessly impressed by it. There was the perfect balance of angst, softness, plot, and pacing. Overall just incredible work.
“I don’t care,” Harry said, frowning a little. “I don’t care how it started. Maybe I didn’t think about you but - but--” Draco bent to him, kissed him slow and warm. “But I’ve got you now,” he said, with that determined look and a faint flush in his cheeks. “I wouldn’t say you’ve got me,” Harry argued, rolling over so that Draco was trapped beneath him and smiling. “Can’t fool me, Potter,” Draco said. “I’ve lived in your head.”
“Ron,” he said, blanching, “I - Ron, Malfoy didn’t come down to the feast. He won’t know about the troll.” “So?” Ron said and then, looking very hopeful, “Maybe it’ll eat him.”
“We’ll all be okay, you know.” “I know,” Harry said. “Maybe you don’t,” Ron said. “But it’s all right. I’ll know for the both of us.”
Stopppp this was so sweet. It was a really interesting concept, I only marked it down because I was a bit confused about the whole aftermath of the curse and the heart of the manor part😭
I really loved the side characters in this. Ron was actually one of my favourites because he wasn’t villainised!! I loved Millie in this as well and the ending with her made me giggle.
Draco and Harry ugh. I love them and they deserve the world.
Harry’s parents and the marauders being alive again HURT. Seeing them being the loving parents Harry was supposed to have made me so immeasurably sad for him. I loved Narcissa as well, she deserves love too!!
I'm hiding this review for spoilers because it's hard to talk about without them so please do NOT read this if you're going in blind (which I highly recommend you do). You have been warned.
So the book starts off with kind of a retelling AU of the Hogwarts years where Harry isn't the Chosen one–Neville is–and how his life might have been different if that were the case. Which means, his parents are alive. He's not worried about Voldemort every minute of his life. And he's... friends with Draco. As they grow, it becomes something more. Only, just as they're celebrating their many years of blissful love and their child together... Harry wakes up.
RIGHT? So Harry and Draco are victims of an attack, but WHY? This book follows that.
I liked it, but idk... something didn't hit with this for me. I know this is a minority opinion, so it could absolutely just be a me thing! But yeah. Some moments hit SO hard because it was so... second chance (aka one of my fave tropes EVERRRRR), so I really did like those moments but the rest... meh.

I really enjoyed the hell out of this. Clever original premise that made for a perfect blend of angsty torture and delicious fluff. Non-AU AU and non-8th year 8th year. Drowning in the contradictions. Swoon.
idk it’s good i really liked it but for my personal taste it was too cheesy at times and too much TOUCHING like where’s my longing throughout a lot of angsty sh1t with a little kiss in the very last line of a fic😩 (im just ace nevermind)
This story was so good. The interplay of the real versus the curse reminded be a bit of a heart-breaking alteration of Turn by Sara's Girl, but it was so good that it made up for it.

The vague bio put me off reading this for so long, and I should've known Aideomai can do no wrong. I trust them wholly and completely, they write great fanfic, and this was no exception.
