This guide to developing flexible web sites is far ahead of its time. For the last year or two the cries of "Mobile First" and "Responsive Design" have been rallying the web development community. Many of the techniques for constructing layouts that adapt beautifully to different screen sizes on varying devices, however, are laid out here in an easy to understand format. Kudos to Zoe Gillenwater for anticipating the direction that web development was going, and for providing methods to help us get there.

It is the tight focus of this book, viz. flexible web site layout, that makes it so exceptionally useful. It banishes all the regular CSS stuff, and exclusively brings together lots of tips, tricks and wisdom for the creation of liquid and elastic web sites. The only criticism is that, in such a fast-paced field, some of it is already a little dated: there's not much use of CSS3 nor treatment of the special case of smaller screen devices here.
