Here's another that I'm a little surprised to see isn't more well known. Ned is about a little girl named Emily who loves her little donkey stuffed animal named Ned. Emily takes him everywhere, speaks to him, acts like he's a living animal, much like most kids I know act with their special friend.
Emily ends up having so much fun that she doesn't notice Ned get pushed to the side. When she finally notices and starts to worry the entire class starts to help look for him. (Great way to show how nice it is so help a friend!)
The end of the story shows Emily deciding to let Ned stay home from school which is something that she wasn't willing to do that first day.
