This story features exactly the same set up as I'll Be Hot for Christmas, just with reversed roles (and a leather tail butt plug that freaked me out a bit, LOL)

Another revisiting of Valenti and O'Brian, who've we met in The Assignment (the first revisiting being in I'll Be Hot for Christmas).
We're about six months later in time and O'Brian has payback due from the time he tied up Valenti. As the tables are turned and it’s O’Brian’s turn to be tied up, Anderson adds a little BDSM to the mix to spice things up.
This story was okay, just okay. The reason I gave it only 2 stars is because I didn't think it added anything to the rest of the series. It was just another round of (pretty hot) sex. There wasn’t much else to it. It gets boring.
Besides that, the overuse of the word 'partner' really annoyed me. I mean: these guys are friends, soul mates, work partners, yada yada yada, but they still keep calling each other by their last name and refer to each other (in their inner dialogue) as 'partner'? Come on! How juvenile. (And unrealistic. ) And we get it: you only have the hots for each other but you’re not gay. Stop hitting us over the head with it!
*clears throat* That all being said, I did order the next story in this series. Just because I’m curious to see where Valenti and O’Brian end up. But if it turns out to be a whole lot of the same, I think I’ll be off of reading Evangeline Anderson for a while.

The relationship between Valenti and O' Brian is progressing and they feel more and more relaxed about the situation between them. This time Valenti is tying up his partner and there is some BDSM involved as well.
The two of them still maintain their secret because of course two tough cops in the early eighties cannot possibly be gay :) But this time we find out that their families are informed and especially O' Brian's family is not exactly happy about the situation.

I liked The Assignment, but the two shorts she's written about those characters haven't really done much for me. I'm probably in the minority with this opinion, but I think these characters are just way too masculine for me. I like pretty boys, and these guys are just... not. And the "gay for you" thing is stressed too heavily - like O'Brian really thinks he's straight, he just happened to fall in love with a guy. I find that weird. There was a touch of hot dominance in this story, but overall it was just meh.

(2.25) this one was like I'll Be Hot for Christmas, but reverse. so instead of sean handcuffing nick to the bed, it was nick handcuffing sean to the bed. the dialogue and scene played out like a bad porn scenario as usual; it was pretty funny. the reason sean gave for being in a bad mood, thus resulting in being handcuffed, were better than the one nick had given last time though. for some reason, even though the story had them being together for almost 2 years together, it felt like no time had passed since the first book. probably because the lack of character development or anything significant happening to move the plot forward.

Otro relato corto basado en los mismos personajes pero medio año mas tarde del ultimo tomo, no existe un historia como tal sino solo un guiño sobre su situación como pareja en la época, el como se sienten y nuevamente una parte homoerotica que abarca todo el relato, solo espero que el final de esta saga tenga mas contenido en cuanto a la historia y sus personajes que en lo sexual que se claramente no podrá faltar...

Once again we revisit Nick Valenti & Sean O’Brian. We are a year and a half after The Assignment (or 6 months after I'll Be Hot for Christmas). O'Brian has just returned from a visit to his parents and seems less than excited to see Valenti. So as payback for his actions at Christmas and to once again bring new life to their sex life, Valenti tries his hand at a little D/s action. And I do mean a little. If that makes you squeamish, fear not, it's very tame. Just another sexy short about this two officers told from Valenti's POV once again, set on July 4th.
The thing I have to keep reminding myself of is that this story is set in the early 80s so maybe things I think are tame are still very taboo.

This short story takes place after the events in Anderson's novel, "The Assignment." At the end of that novel is a short story, "I'll be hot for Christmas" wherein Sean handcuffs Nick to the bed to find out what has been bothering him. Nick vowed to get even, and this juicy little story is his payback!
As the cover art indicates, the story takes place around Independence Day. Nick has manipulated Sean into a hot leather "costume" with the white lie they are going undercover again. The reality is Nick wants to try a little light bondage with his sexy lover. These two detectives are just too hot for words! Both are likeable characters, and I was happy to read more about them. Anderson's writing is smooth, yet vivid. I hope she follows with another novel that expands on their history and families, but this story is well worth reading as well. Recommended!

It took me a little while to get into this one but once I did, I have to agree it was hot. This is an erotic interlude featuring the characters of "The Assignment".
The story is a glorified sex scene and unlike the previous interlude doesn't even pretend to have a plot. The story starts and gets steamy instantly which was probably why I wasn't into it at the start because it was all too sudden while I would have liked to be eased in. But, as the scene progressed I started to get into the whole scene. By the end, I realised I actually enjoyed it.
This was a quickie in every sense of the word.

I loved The Assignment and I was glad to see more stories about Nick and Sean, but I wish this and I'll Be Hot for Christmas had been incorporated into one complete story. Hopefully, Heart and Soul will be a more fleshed out story!

Good short read. I always enjoy stepping back into Valenti and O'Brien's lives. They know how to have a good time between the sheets. My only complaint is that I wish we could get a book with an actual story and not just a short one of just them between the sheets. Something again like their first book, The Assignment, of their time at the Ramjack.

This was the book i liked less in the serie, till now. Valenti gets his revenge on O'Brian for what he did to him on Christmas.
Is the 4th of July and Valenti decides that today is leather day ROLF. There is a dom/sub play here, and i dont usually like that, i rated this book like this for that reason.
Dont fear all is consensual and they are really in love, but i would have liked something else.

Fireworks wasn't quite as good as the previous short story in the series, I'll Be Hot for Christmas. There was a shadow of conflict, but that was too quickly swept aside by the sex. The saving grace were Valenti adn O'Brian themselves.
