Piper Jones is in a real jam. Her dangerous journey from powerless orphan to the Princess of Faerie has brought her to a perilous crossroads. The fey king's minions are stealing witches from right under her nose, and her mother, the fey queen, has come to collect on her favor—one with potentially devastating consequences for everyone she loves. Piper's next move could be her last, and whatever her decision, one thing is clear:
AMBER LYNN NATUSCH is the author of the bestselling Caged series for adults. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, and is still deeply attached to her Canadian roots. She loves to dance and practice Muay Thai―but spends most of her time running a chiropractic practice with her husband, raising two young children, and attempting to write when she can lock herself in the bathroom for ten minutes of peace. Dare You to Lie is her debut YA novel with Tor Teen.
This is one of my favorite series by this author. If you like vampires, werewolves, witches, warlocks and the evil fae, then this is the series for you.
Over the course of these books, heroine Piper has evolved from a paranormal character that had no clue how powerful she would become, to a character that is probably the most powerful ever. Along the way she bonded with a vampire, ran away from him due to bad circumstances, met a werewolf alpha and fell in love with him, and then ended up back at the original vampires house. All three together under the same roof. The vampires and the alpha’s pack have banded together against the fae queen and fae King. There’s plenty of action, twists and turns in these books as well as close calls, especially for Piper.
I did have problem with the story this time. The fact that Piper is seeing both Knox(the alpha) and Merc(the vampire king)in the biblical sense bothered me. There’s no threesomes or anything like that, but still. She hasn’t made her choice yet and I honestly had no idea the series was going to evolve like this. It’s just not a favorite scenario for me in a book and I have to be honest. I like both of the men, but Knox has always been my favorite. At this point, I just want her to choose, no matter who it ends up being.
Having said all that, and again I felt I needed to be honest, it still was a really good installment for this series. At times, it had me on the edge of my chair, and at other times I was just shocked at where the story went. There’s also plenty of humor and all my favorite side characters were still involved in everything.
Recommended to adult paranormal romance or urban fantasy readers 18+. Good Read!

Well hot dang! You want answers? You get some! You want Kat at her most...well, Kat has reached a whole new level to be honest. More Merc? Here you go! More Knox? You got it! The ever lovable man-bear? Grizz has got your back! Piper weilding her powers and fighting for those she cares about? Always have some of that! If that's not enough for you then prepare yourself for the chaos ahead, because there's a lot of it! It's one bumpy ride for the supernaturals of NYC, and it's not over yet...
This book was INTENSE. Oh my Lordy. There is so much going on in this book that you will not want to put it down. It will pull you in until the very last page. There are so many twists in this book, you’ll never see them coming. Piper and the gang are amazing as always and I have a new love for Kat. Can’t wait for the epic finale! It’s going to be one heck of a ride!
This book of the series had me scratching my head. I’m not quite sure how to take the twists. They weren’t as predictable as I assumed, but still a bit disappointing. I do like this story line and the characters. It’s well written and does elicit some feelings and responses from me. Piper and her men, Knox and Merc, still don’t have their stuff together after four darn books. No one truly speaks up to the group and just follows along. I get that the author likes the impending doom feel and has been making it feel more and more helpless for our group of chaotic heroes. The fae king and queen have continued to be a problem that they can’t seem to figure out. I’m hoping this series ends with more than has been offered up. I know many people will enjoy this series. It’s low on spice although it’s there. It’s not a true reverse harem. It is a paranormal series that has enough adventure and drama to suck you in.
I said it last book and it applies again, I didn’t not see that coming one bit... just wow! This is yet again another amazing book from Amber! There are a ton of twists and turns in the story, ending in a place that I did not except. The gang has a whole lot of work cut out for themselves in the last book. I will admit, I am a bit scared of what is in store for some of my favorite characters.
The writing of this book and the whole series is astonishing and the character development is spectacular! I cannot say enough good things about this series! And with the final book releasing last week it is now complete! I have devoured this series in less then a week! This is an absolute must read!
I love it when I’m reading a series that has characters I can relate to, a storyline that keeps me interested, and an ending I didn’t see coming! This book has all of that and more. The only thing that would take it to the next level would be if it were longer! I can’t say enough good things about the character development, the evolving plot line, and the unpredictable ending. I can’t wait to read the next one, but at the same time, want to hold off reading it because I don’t want it to end! I definitely want to spend more time in this world.
And all this leads to our final. D-day is coming and I can’t wait. It’s been a journey, so many secrets, puzzles and creating allies, family and friends. Now book 5 is to witness the payoff for piper and her family and friends. She’s had a bad and very dark past. She’s got a lot of reasons to fight and a purpose. You just know book 5 is gonna be the one we can’t have any distractions for 😁
I would have given this book a higher review if it wasn't for the relationship aspect. I enjoyed the story a lot, but I am not into someone having more than one partner. I feel like this has turned into a reverse harem book and I am personally not into those kinds of relationships. If you are ok with such relationships, then this book would be thoroughly enjoyable for you.
I enjoyed Beneath the Dust but I feel like because of the time between reading the 1st 3 books and this one, I spent a lot of time trying to remember what happened.
I loved the ending and cant wait till the next book. I look forward to seeing who Piper chooses. Either way she cant go wrong, they are both great.
“Now is not the time for vengeance, Piper,” Merc said softly, resting his hand on my back to steady me—and to stifle my power and save me from myself. “Sure feels like it.”
Another fast paced whirlwind of action and intrigue. Allies are not all they seem to be and enemies may not be either. Super great installment, I cannot wait to see how it ends.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for what is to come. I am totally invested in Piper and the gang, I want them all to survive.
I've read every book in this series and had trouble putting it down. I never knew what to expect nextd or from whom. I become lost in the list of characters who kept things exciting.
Will def read series over and over again it was that good I didn't want to finish book bc I loved the story so much but I couldn't stop reading bc I had 2 know what happened
I absolutely loved this series! Im just now getting around to making out my good reads list and this series is still one of my top favorites 4 years and so many books later!
Omg piper piper piper.. out of the frying pan into the fire as always. I love this series, I love the way the characters have progressed and seeing all the happiness and pain they go through. I love the none stop action, there is literally no boring bits, and above all else I love Piper and her men ❤️ she is just so funny and kicks ass. I loved this book and I can’t wait for the next one.
Favorite Quote: “What in the actual fuck were you thinking, Piper?” “That I didn’t want Knox to die?” She opened her mouth to yell at me, then snapped it shut. Though she wanted to chastise me for my decision, she couldn’t fault it. She’d have done the same thing, and she knew it. Moreover, she knew I’d call bullshit if she tried to say otherwise.
Love ALN.. but I didn't sign up for RH... the prior books were amazing and I understand why Piper hooked up with Knox... but Here we are book 4 and she still fucking both Merc and Knox... would have been 5 stars had Piper finally chosen her love
This series keeps getting better. Beneath the Dust is more action-packed and evenly paced than the first three books, in my opinion. It feels like the author found her stride and I'm loving it. Cannot wait to start the fifth and final book Through the Ether!
An exciting, nail biting, riveting, passionate and action pact new chapter in Piper's quest to destroy her mother, the Fae king and figure out how to make her triangle of a relationship work.
