When victims are found killed by electrocution, it is up to the FBI’s brilliant new agent, Riley Paige, 22, to enter a serial killer’s warped mind and stop him before he can claim any more victims. Riley, fresh out of the academy and off her last case, is settling into FBI life when a shocking twist threatens her partnership with her mentor, Jake, and undermines everything she thought she knew. Can Riley keep her personal life under control while trying to catch a diabolical killer at the same time? An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, KILLING is book #6 in a riveting new series that will leave you turning pages late into the night. It takes readers back 20 plus years—to how Riley’s career began—and is the perfect complement to the ONCE GONE series (A Riley Paige Mystery), which comprises 17 books.

This the final story in the Making of Riley Paige. Blake Pierce gave me the info I sort of needed. I had already read three of the books 📚📖 Riley Paige Mysteries and I had already said I was going to read the Making of Riley Paige before I go back to reading Riley Paige Mysteries. So I am definitely excited to read the Riley Paige Mysteries and to know how her and Bill Jeffreys got to be partners. I like that we find out that Jake Tucker helped to make sure that Riley Paige gets the right partner. This book is about what a little kindness would of went a long way to maybe keeping something like this case from happening. This was a good read 👍🏾. I would highly recommend this series.
BECOMING RILEY PAIGE Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2020 JAKE HAS QUIT THE BAU and not for the first time Riley is doubting her ability! Adding insult to injury her new partner scoffs at her ability to enter the mind of a killer. He likes hard data and rules....Riley not so much.
Someone is electrocuting people by strapping them to a chair, putting their bare feet in a pan of water, hooking an electrical cord to the home's electrical box and dropping the cord into the water. He's all ready killed 2 people when Riley and Cliff Johnson, her new partner, are assigned to the case. And a third murder is looming. Riley has been shut down by Cliff as her superior. Doubt plagues Riley but her natural instinct kicks in and in the end Riley gets her man. She also gets a new partner. I will leave the reader to guess who that might be.
I love this series and sincerely hope Mr. Pierce doesn't get tired of writing about Riley anytime soon.
Riley Paige has her own way of solving cases. She has to put herself into the killers shoes so to speak. To feel the crime. Jake has retired and he is the only one who understood Riley’s unique skills. She is paired up with a tight ass partner who thinks everything has to fit in the box. He’s a numbers guy. Measure everything then you can figure out the killer. Riley knows you have to get in the killers head to know what’s going on and what’s going to happen next. Riley doesn’t play well with others and this case proves that she does better alone then with a “suit” breathing down her back. She ends up solving a case by mistake and getting thrown off the case because she can’t follow orders. But that’s Riley and Nothing stops Riley until she gets her man or woman. Excellent read. 5 Stars
I have diverse reading tastes and my favourite authors include Michael Connelly, Jeffery Deaver, Ian Rankin, Peter Robinson, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Arthur C Clarke and Isaac Asimov. Blake Pierce has recently joined my list after finishing "Killing".
This book kept me awake until 04:00 this morning. I couldn't wait to see how it ended so I could get back to the "Riley Paige Mystery" series. I've enjoyed every book of "The Making of..." series and can recommend the books to all fans of the genre.
despite thinking riley’s too instinctive, i must admit that i was relieved to read she only risked little to die i mean, without her (once again) risking her life the case wouldn’t have been solved
loved the happy ending for jake crivaro and still don’t like ryan👀
i don’t know if i’ll ever read the actual series, because these six books were kinda predictable and repetitive, still, i loved the writing and the way the story and the characters and their sensations were told and described!

As I expected. The more in-depth dive into Riley's inner dialogs was disconcerting. I was trying to decide if I was supposed to not like her. I definitely didn't like Johnson. He slightly redeemed himself at the end but I don't want him to show up again. I'm glad Jake met Riley's dad. It gave Jake some direction that he needed.
I love The Making of Riley Paige and this one, where she finds herself as an FBI agent. Jake retires and she is paired with a man whose approach to crime scenes and investigation is very different from her own. And he disses her as if she were invisible. She is not quite Riley Paige yet, she is still Agent Sweeney.
The Making of Riley Paige is the BEST of this author's series. It explains so much about how and why she operates the way she does. Jake is an especially appealing character despite his gruff manner. Their method so well reflects how I have to work as a shrink. Fascinating series!
As much as I love this series and the continuing books, I found I highlighted errors throughout each book. Maybe Blake needs an editor?
This book starts with Crivaro retiring and Riley being partnered up with someone more data analysis based than people based. She goes off on her own, solves the case, and finally meets her partner, Bill Jeffreys.
Killing (The Making of Riley Paige-Book 6) by Blake Pierce
I love Riley and just reread all of her other books. She is surely one with great but instincts and personally gets in trouble frequently but that is what you love about her. Thank you Blake!
I have just finished all the making of Riley Paige books. They are all great reads and very hard to put down. I would recommend these and the Riley Paige books to all readers. On to the next Blake Pierce series.
I wasn’t expecting this book 6…. It went back to almost the start of the series when she was still engaged to Ryan. It was well thought out, and I couldn’t out the book down. Nice ending as welll
Another amazing adventure in the making of Riley Paige. The Riley Paige and the Making of Riley Paige series both well written and a pleasure to read. Keep an coming...
Having read the Riley Paige series, I did love this series in the way that it gives more depth into. and shows some insight into, how Riley became the person she is.
The best book in the series. I literally could not put it down! I loved the psychology and humanity in this book and series and I am looking forward to Riley’s future cases.
Riley Page is on another case however her mentor decides to retire and she is partnered with new guy who doesn’t actually like her special abilities. The new case involves victims being murdered by electrocution. It’s up to Riley to trying to find the common connection between the victims. Her new partner works strictly by data and wants to wrap the case up quickly without checking out all suspects. Because their partnership is not working, Riley goes off on her own to try to solve the case before any more victims appear.
I love reading all of these back stories of Riley Page. I cannot wait to see how all of the puzzle pieces fit together to develope her into the grown Riley Page i have grown to adore!
Continuing to love seeing how Riley became who she was in this series! This book really marks a pivotal point in Riley’s career with the retirement of Jake after a particularly hard case, and she seems to be lost and unsure when getting a new partner that doesn’t understand her methods. As she travels with her new partner to Utah to investigate murders involving electrocution, she finds that she is met with resistance while utilizing her methods of solving a murder and goes somewhat rouge to get the job done and make sure nobody else gets hurt. I continue to get sucked into this prequel series for Riley and the books that Blake writes continue to be captivating. It’s really interesting to see how she established herself within the BAU and learn to understand her instincts and wade the waters of the profession. I always find myself guessing until the last second as to who is behind the murders and this book was no different. Can’t wait for the next book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
