I know those is a very edited version of her life but it was a lovely little read. The illustrations were very well done. She has always been a favorite of mine, since my school days, so to read this book was delightful.

This vintage biography of Sacajawea for young readers is pleasant and engaging but also a bit romanticized, giving the impression that she was a full-out guide instead of the translator she really was. A few of the vintage word choices may rub modern readers the wrong way (the word Negro is used once, and Sacajawea is proud and delighted to be involved with a wonderful country like the United States). Any mildly off-putting details (including even the fact that Sacajawea's husband had more than one wife) are skipped. However, the illustrations are charming and kid-friendly.
