Devi holds the power of all elements in her grasp. Vale can manipulate the minds of those who oppose him. They won’t be enough. The bastard son of the last overking has moved to take the throne ruling over the entire Isle, and no army, no power can hope to win against his forces. They have but one claim the frostbound throne. Song of Heaven and Ice will complete the Frostbound Throne trilogy.

I loved the previous stories in this series, and I honestly couldn't wait to see how Vale and Devi's story would end. I'm really disappointed. This book honestly seemed like a prequel to future stories rather than the ending to Vale and Devi's. You read a chapter about each and every character from previous books, rather than seeing how the mate bond effects the two main characters or how their relationship changes. The switching between so many different characters made the story feel rushed, so much so that the death in the story didn't move me at all. There is also an excerpt from a different story that was placed between the last chapter and epilogue. Totally threw me off as well. This will be the last story for me in this series. I'm a little hurt since I truly loved the two main characters and wanted to see how their mating would change the two of them and possibly their world. *sigh*
This was definitely not as good as the first two, which was a shame.
It felt shortband rushed, with no character development. Devi and Vale are thgether but we don't get to enjoy that relationship, which is a shame considering how good the build up was.
There were a lot of strange decisions going on, as well. The ending was completely abrupt and ties up none of the loose ends.
I also didn't like what the author did with Rook, the baddie. It felt like a massive cop out also, Kira and Rook, how the hell is that believable?
I'm still glad I read the series but this book felt too short and the plot was just then all plodding along to the final confrontation, which all turned out just a bit too convenient.
This worked for me. I really enjoyed the trilogy and the world the author created. I usually suck at series, but because these books were fairly brief (and because all the parts were already released) I made it through this one easily. Each book flowed directly into the next, and while this last installment was less about Devi and Vale and more about the final battle, I thought it worked well with tying up most of the loose ends while still leaving threads dangling for more stories set in this world. This final push takes place on multiple fronts so it made sense to tell it from multiple points of view. It was the right call for this book in my opinion. So much was happening--all at once, across the entire continent--that there really was no other way to do it. And I genuinely liked hearing from these other cast of characters. However, I do think because she told the story from so many different views, that it ended up feeling a little rushed towards the end. The conclusion was a little anti-climatic for me . Overall, though, it was good and a fun foray into a new world.
As a side note: Honestly, I went into this series halfway expecting a romance with a splash of fantasy, and while yes, there is romance, it doesn't overshadow the story or even become the focal point. There is, hands down, absolutely more battle action than bedroom action, no question about it. For all the bravado displayed in the first parts of the first book, there is very little in the way of sex in any of these books. Period. Depending on your preference, that could either be a good or a bad thing. Me? I prefer a slow-burn romance in a story where the romance is not a central plot line, so having a trilogy where the sex is not an integral part of the story is right up my alley :)
I love the first two books I have to admit I was very disappointed in this one. It’s switch between so many characters took way too much away from the Devi and Vale’s story. The end was just left hanging there like an unfinished book. It felt more like a prequel for all the secondary characters to advertise all their stories coming out, which made me sort of hate this book. I kept waiting for it to come together but no luck
I did not like this last book as much as the first two but only for the ending. It seemed rushed and unfinished. I see there is a possibility for some standalones and I hope there will be because there has to be more to this story!!! I feel like there should definitely be a 4th book, if not the standalones. Anyway, what I did like about this book is the many different point of views leading up to the ending scenes. It was interesting to see how each group in different geographical locations was dealing with the events of the book. I wished there had been more battle scenes (which is weird for me because I’m not particularly fond of action necessarily), but again, it felt rushed. I really love Devi and Vale together. They complement one another and are just all around great characters. I really want to see more of them and how the future of the Isle will fare with it’s new ruler. May is a wonderful author and has a way with words that makes reading her stories so pleasant. I’m interest to see what happens with Rook and a book about Devin would be wonderful!
I loved this trilogy. The author is very talented as is the editor. The characters had depth & I empathized with their individual plights. I also enjoyed the serendipitous romance & overall story arc. It was very well done. So why 3.5 stars? The trilogy was left incomplete. It felt like a stop gap resolution & I’d have enjoyed reading how the kingdoms many issues were resolved after the individual was crowned. The reasoning behind them chasing the crown was for the betterment of their people. The romance itself was a happenstance of the circumstance. The crown was achieved but the kingdom was left in an even more precarious situation. As it stands the trilogy doesn’t resolve the main story arc. Perhaps that story arc will continue into a spinoff series? Idk 😐 I don’t see any additional books in this world listed on the author’s webpage. 3 -3.5stars this was not the best book I the series. I didn’t mind the multiple characters POV but I also felt I would’ve enjoyed more chapters from the couples POV after the frostbound occurrence. I’d recommend the series.
Following up on my review of court of sin 2. There are too many inconsistencies: - how can a hundred years old know more than a 738years old with regards to scions and gods... absolutely doesnt make sense, I would have expected the author to at least explain it - May added technology in this one, suddenly we talk about alarms, technology, unplugging sockets as if all of this was common knowledge - in the previous war why were car/machinery not used etc etc etc... Just doesnt make sense and it's very annoying. The ending was rushed and there was no epilogue, where is the mother of Devi? where is Devinar? who died and who survived? Also a lot of typos... the book is 250 pages long, the style has changed as suddenly we read the POV of secondary characters we never heard of, even though it adds to the story but using this trick only in the last book is unprofessional and cheap. The editor should have noticed. This book felt rushed... The series is too expensive for what it's worth.
This book was just bad, which is such a shame as I really enjoyed the first book in the series. I loved the characters in the first book and the banter between them but there was none of that here. In fact the 2 main characters are barely in it. Instead the book skips around to a load of other points of view characters, some of which I had no idea who they were let alone cared about. The whole thing just felt really rushed with things like big battles we're told happened off page but none of the fighting actually shown and with having no conclusion to what happened to some of the characters.
I wanted SO BAD to love this book! The first two were AMAZING!! Couldn’t put them down. This one started off great then it just ended. It fell so flat for me! There were so many loose ends and questions! I know Rook’s story is coming out next year, but that’s HIS story. I wanted more of THESE characters. More of an ending than was given. Felt like the author ran out of ideas or maybe time to do the ending justice.
This was such a disjointed and confusing book. The writing was all over the place. Every chapter showed a different character's POV. It got confusing. This was the worst of the three books. The story was told and not shown. What a disappointment. Book one was the best one. It seemed the author forgot who the main characters on this book.
Twisted plot(s), twisted characters, twisted paths winding up this storyline. Creative? Definitely. Unique? Absolutely. Worth it? With out question. I could foreshadow the Throne room and it's final choice. What I didn't want to see but suspected was Shea. Loved her final show of power and sacrifice. I was so lost in this story that I had to pause at her last stand. Now I have questions. Lots of questions. Loose ends if you will that I need tied up. What happens to the unseelie realm? How's that work with Vale and Devi? What about Kira? She live? Please do NOT tell me Rook goes after her and they bond. Nope. I wouldn't like that at all. He needs a punishment and not a reward for his stupidity. Then there is Vales other brother Aurelius. He is not kind, noble, humble or valiant. I mean look what he did to that poor common fae woman to "get a child". He's evil. He needs to go too. Jiya....I want to see her story continue. Does Devin claim her. What about kal? I thought maybe Kira would pair well with them and they could rule Carvenstone. However, by the end of the book, I thought Kals mate might actually be that little Kera? I'd like to see his story continue too. Good story, plot and writing style. So worth your time.
That's what I'm feeling right now. Or maybe I just don't understand the whole story. Or what the hell I'm reading??? The book has been taking me various characters POV which confused the hell out of me since we are at the brink of war. AND not to mention there are so many questions remained unanswered. I do understand that the author is going have some spin off from this story but the unanswered questions remained too much.
If I did not have Kindle Unlimited service, I will feel very ripped off from this trilogy.
Devi is hurt by Vale for thinking that she 's working with his mother to "work" on him. Then "bam", they're bound together in life and death. Just like that. If this trilogy is about Vale and Devi, I'm very disappointed with the way the story turns out. Maybe I have high expectations towards this trilogy but nevertheless the disappointment is there.
It was a phenomenal book but I enjoyed the first two more. The shifting of perspective gave more insight into the landscape and the world building and of course the war but it drew away from the protagonists often and didn't fully provide a clear plot line. I think I would have preferred to see Devi and Vale more throughout the book and understand their plans because I felt like it was too scattered throughout the book. I also think that the ending kind of subverted the feminism undertones the previous books had emphasized. Personally speaking the throne should have gone to the most powerful and righteous ruler without the need of the bloodline. Through the association of mating devi has only able to get the throne through her mate, which really undercuts the plot twist. When I got to the epilogue it also felt rushed. I would have loved to read more of the fight rather than be told it was basically over.
I was pleasantly surprised by this whole series, the style of this last book was quite different but I still liked it.
For the first time we had multiple pov not just Devi and Vale, and the chapters were short, jumping from one place to another. For me this worked really well in building the sense of urgency and the ever closer war.
Where it didn't work was that we didnt get anywhere near enough of Devi and Vale, and there were other characters I would have liked more of as well. The book felt rushed, I was surprised it didn't have another book because there were so many threads that could have been explored properly and there was room for some Battle scenes which I felt were missing given we'd spent the whole book building to them. The end felt a bit anticlimactic, which was a shame because I felt the build up to it had been decent.
Should have seen it coming but i need more stories now
The age of gold reference in book 2 reminded me that I had read Sage's solo fantasy work before. I finished #1 then debated on waiting for gift cards or just taking the plunge and since I devoured #2 & #3 in a two day span, I made the right choice. Because May works on books in a series before standalones it's hard to wait things out and all you want to do is READ READ READ as soon as the books drop. I want all related work to be finished so I can move on to other books and dial back my reasons for harassing an author (mentally not IRL, never! work at your own pace, not rushing good work). Seriously though I'd appreciate those standalones and the spin-off series in a timely manner that doesn't give you burn out.
I have enjoyed this series immensely. I have always loved books regarding the fae. However, this author made something unique with the fae by making scion characters. I thought the idea was original. Although, I loved the series, I am disappointed in the ending. There are too many loose ends. I believe the author plans on continuing on with other books in this realm, so I hope the storyline eventually ties those ends up. I will miss Devi and Vale and realistically, there could have been more stories that had them in lead. I really do hope the author continues where this book left off because the story feels half done. I am looking forward to Rook's book and the others, such as kaI and so forth.
All in all I thought it was the best book of the trilogy. I fell in love with the first one and just kept on reading. I really liked that there were So many different POV's in this book. Devi's father for one was interesting. So, I had a soft spot for Rook from the first book and I felt like his friendship with Devi was kinda glossed over. It kinda felt like Devi just decided he was evil in the second book and that was that. No real turmoil or consideration for her 'friend's' reasoning or feelings. I'm happy to say that changed in the final book. The only thing I was kinda upset by in this book was the lack of Devi and Vale scenes, but I mean in reflection I guess everyone was busy.
This is book 3 in Court of Sin series, the conclusion to Devi and Vale story. I was thinking a lot about what to write in this review and what rating should I give. And with the first thing, I'm still at loss... So I will just write what I think and comes to my mind. First two books - I really enjoyed and felt captivated by them, but with this one, the story was too much fragmented to my liking. Like we were skipping from one side of the road to the other one every few pages. The story itself was good and I liked it, just not the way to was given to me. I have my eyes set on next book as I have good feelings about it!
There’s so much happening in this series, and so many key people that I couldn’t keep reading when I was tired because I needed to concentrate in order to keep up! The pace is fast, and the related threads in the storyline are building blocks that tie everything together. There were some big surprises, and some losses! Wonderful characters that are relatable and a nice, but totally unexpected, wrap up. A truly entertaining series...
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Frostbound Throne Court of Sin trilogy is outstanding. Superb world building, characterization and story telling. I was captivated and held riveted from the very beginning. Song of Heaven and Ice wrapped up this trilogy very well. I might have preferred a bit more closure on some things but felt it was nicely written overall. I would love to read further standalone books written in this same world and very much hope May Sage does decide to revisit it to tell the stories of several characters from this series!
And with this story, the Court of Sin series comes to an end. All of the story lines are resolved. There is a lot of action and intrigue as the story progresses. The book is well written and keeps the reader engaged and wanting to find out what happens next. I am a little disappointed with how the book ended; it seemed that the story was going in one direction only to have the rug pulled out from under you at the last minute. I recommend this book and the whole series.
I am so very disappointed! I liked the court of sin books a lot. But this ending is just so vauge. It is almost like sage just didn't want to write anymore at then just ended it all in two lines without tying up the loose ends.. This ending is not fair for people who read and buy the books and enjoy them to end out of nowhere like this.
******Spoiler question ahead*******
Did kal and the people from carvenstone live or die? And for 3 books leading to this ending it would have been nice to See and epilogue in a little more distant future!
Devi and Vail fight to get to Corantius after Asra falls in book 2. Hoping the throne there will pick Vale as the over king once all the heirs are in place so that he can stop Rook from destroying the barriers that keep the orcs out of the aisle. Although Devi and Vale's storyline climaxes in this book, a significant part of the book is about Rook, the villain of the story. It sets him up for his own story as a flawed hero in the sequel. I love a tragic hero so can't wait for the next one.
2.5 stars. I think this would've made a better book 2 rather than the final book of this trilogy. Just too many new characters, the bad guy not being bad, just being an ass, the technology, the creatures, I don't know, just too much of other, not a lot of the main characters. Not even the epilogue was about them! I really enjoyed book one and two, but not so much this one. The author will continue the series featuring the other characters, but with the exception of Kallan, I didn't find them interesting enough to read more.

I feel like there’s a lot more to read from this series than what was found in this series. Definitely doesn’t seem like it’s a standalone series but rather a much larger series within a series.
If there aren’t any additional books written for this world then this was a rushed and half hearted attempt at a final book in the series.
EDIT: Alright I give up, all I can find is Shea’s prequel, the numerous books May has written after this series don’t seem to specify they are in the same world as this one. If someone knows of a continuation, please let me know!
I'm done! Took way too long. I have too many questions. I was hoping after all this to get a satisfying ending, however I feel that there were just too many things happening. I'd love to read the standalone books after this to find out what happened to some of the characters. Overall I'm a bit disappointed in Devi and Vale's ending though. No epilogue scene with them and their HEA. If it even was an HEA?
2.5 I enjoyed it I thought it was a great concept. My problem comes from. The fact that I feel like it was rushed and needed unfinished. Idk if there were plans to extend the series but I feel like we need on a cliffhanger to be honest. Not sure if I'll read the series again because of that. Also there wasn't much profanity in this one which I liked and I don't think there was any adult situations in this one.
I feel like a got a small piece of the puzzle but so many questions were left unanswered that it is a little frustrating I need to wait again. This is by far my favorite series by May Sage but I wish she would go into more depth and give more depth and description. The stories are too short for my liking. The story did have an unexpected twist that I enjoyed but there were so many characters introduced and not enough info.
I agree with the other reviews here...I absolutely loved the first two books, but the last book was not as good as the other two. The story felt a bit disjointed to me, rushed, too many different POV of side characters that were not mentioned before. The last book should have been centered mostly around Devi and Vale... in the end, I was left with more questions than answers.
