I broke it with Talon…

My New Year’s resolution was simple: Get over my lying, cheating ex-boyfriend.
I decided that the best way to do this was to focus on my career as a nurse.
Falling in love with my patient was never part of the plan.
But I did.

Talon is many things.
A wounded ex-soldier.
An arrogant billionaire.
A tender beast.
When I met him for the first time, I expected him to be a broken man.
Instead, I found someone strong enough to sacrifice everything to protect those he loves.

I try to keep things professional, but it’s hard when our work together is so...physical.
And it’s even harder when Talon decides that he wants to make me his.
Men like him don’t play games. They make their own rules.

I don’t know what to do.
All I know is that once I give in to him, there’s no going back.
No matter the consequences.

It had 5 pages of potential and then it torpedoed.

There is no slow burn at all. I found myself giving a huge "What!" after the characters knew each other for 1 hour and started having sex which threw her foolish 'no sex' resolution out The window in a matter of seconds. Seriously what the hell did I just read. She's his nurse?! Are you serious??? At least try to write her as having some sort of a professional backbone for most of the story. No slow burn, none of them getting to know each other, none of her helping him through rehabilitation and him opening up to her, none of them dealing with implications of their feelings for each other. Nothing! Just him randomly saying I can't get it up and all of a sudden their fucking. By the way, she was supposed to give him 1 beer because he was on meds and she didn't want to risk it. 3 lines later she's giving him a second, third, and fourth. Jesus Christ stay CONSISTENT!

I have to agree with another reviewer in that there was no build up, no slow burn of wanting especially when the dynamic is off with him being her patient and employer and she being his nurse. Additionally, there's no character or plot development.

Had potential

Has potential but seriously fell short. I do not understand the high rating but this did not do it for me.

Nursing the wounded hero

This isn’t your typical hero, Talon is a badly wounded Navy Seal who’s desperate parents hires a live in nurse to take care of him. What Talon really needs is to be treated like a man and love. Ameerah is the nurse who’s take on the caretaker duties in ways I didn’t expect. The couple fell in lust and love rather quickly. One thing that I would have liked the author to touch on is whatever happened to Sly? He was the whole point of her New Year’s Resolution. Overall great read although I would have enjoyed hearing Talon’s thoughts and feelings.

A very light read

This story had potential but once the two protagonists met, really the substance to the book became thin a d lacked verisimilitude. . Out was a disappointing read. The relationship needed to develop a lot more. Though I can see the merit in why Ameerah did what she did.; it was totally unprofessional and then like a Mills and Boon novel, they are both in love. I've outgrown that type of novel, when I reached 16. I just think the start was really promising but it was not sustained and what happened to Sly. Did he slink off into the sunset?

GREAT STORY 👍❤⭐

I loved this story about Talon and Ameera's. I for one enjoyed this story due to the fact that Talon was not perfect, he had a disability. I think more authors should try to write about one of their characters with a disability every once in a while. Thank you for that Shay great job, please keep writing wonderful stories like this coming. I would absolutely recommend reading this book I think you will enjoy it. 👍❤

Tragedy turns to Love

Talon is a soldier wounded in action, so he feels broken and lost. Ameerah is a nurse hired to help him heal. Once they actually sit and talk, they share their stories and open up to each other like never before. I was shock how quickly Ameerah decided to help Talon see if he could still perform down below. But they clicked so well together that it was good to see their relationship take off. Talon is a hero who deserves to be happy with the woman who helped change his life to mean so much beyond his physical disabilities, and his children will be proud of the man their dad is. Ameerah is a wonderful nurse, wife and mother. Love our military men and women.

New author, a new lovely series found!

Shay Violet gave a good introduction to a series of romances involving best friends since college, the Leopard Ladies! Talon, a wounded Navy SEAL and Ameerah, his nurse meet and fall in love at the right time. She gives him the courage to continue to live a fulfilling life despite the injuries he sustained defending our country. He gives her the love and the life she did not know she truly desired but deserved! This was an enjoyable read! I look forward to reading the other four Leopard Ladies’ romances!

Another great Story! Excellent!

Another great story by Shay Violet, excellent!, Sad, hopeful, strength, love, inspiring. I loved Talon, what a awful, horrible thing to have happened yo him, when he met nurse Ameerah, he became the man he was suppose to be, again the making love scenes in the story was off the chain, but this story teaches you about life, how your life can change in a second, wow, life is not promised, live your life to the fullest, Talon and Ameerah found love, got married had three kids, so wonderful, great story again.

Interesting

First book to be read by the author Shay Violet. I enjoyed it, well written, plot was great. I will say given the fact that it's a short story, I feel like alot was missed, but yet rushed. Like she meets him the first day, and they're sleeping together by day 2. By the end of the week they're dating. Forward 2 months later they're married and the story ends. You could see the build up for them it was just over quickly. However I did enjoy it and plan to read the rest of the series

Good one

Although, I initially assumed this was a paranormal, it’s not. It is a good read. Ameerah and her four friends meet up every six months to discuss the resolutions they set at the beginning of the as well as see if they are sticking to them.

Ameerah is offered a chance to make a job change for a few months. Her patient is an amputee Navel Seal. A discussion and theory testing leads to something more than either could have imagined.

Meh...

The blurb made it seem like ex-boyfriend Sly played a bigger role in the story. He didn't.

It was short and had sort of an insta-love feel to it. I'm not a fan of insta-love.

It felt like maybe there should've been something more...like maybe some interference from Sly, or from Talon's mother. Something more than a nurse having an inappropriate relationship with her patient.

It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great, either.

Steamy short read!

Love wounded warrior books. Nurse Ameerah and her friends all make a new years resolution. And hers is to get over her ex. As a nurse she accepts a live in position helping a wounded warrior. Talon, a former Navy Seal is her charge. This romance was lighthearted, steamy, and an excellent introduction to thr broken resolutions series! I cant wait to read the next ones!!

So promising...

I was really excited the first quarter of this book to see how these characters developed. There was so much opportunity to develop their relationship, build tension between Ameerah and her friends or Talon and his parents. What happened? It was so incomplete. The first day they met? Risking her license and career...just was unbelievable. I was hoping to read the rest of the characters stories, but they’re not for me.

An amazing story to read

I chose this rating of five stars because this book was very well written and there were no mistakes throughout the book. I love how Ameerah first took to the job so that she could help out a patient who needed her expertise as a nurse, but in the end love blossomed in a unlikely situation. Great story I can't wait to read the other books in the series! I wish this book could have been longer.

Literary Soul Food

I have read several books in this series, and I have not been disappointed. The female characters always leave you laughing, envious, and entertained. The restaurant, Sadie's, and its namesake are interesting and intriguing. Ameerah and Talon are great characters with a great storyline. Their story offers hope and shows courage through perseverance. Read this series!

This is a masterful told story

This is a heartwarming sexy story. The two characters are a sexy wounded, disabled special mission seal, alpha male and a beautiful smart, seduction nurse practitioner to aid him on his recovery. The best captivating , romantic, and seduction sexual scene. The best happy ending with love. 😍😘🤗

Moved fast

Ameerah and Talen's relationship moved extremely fast but the characters were well developed and the author gave an excellent backdrop to both characters.

I appreciated her friends and their cohesiveness.

Talen's mother was typical and his father was cool.

Good story line.

Strong, but gentle

Shay Violet has given us a quick overview of the seriousness of ptsd and the work of the wounded warriors project. She has gently touched upon the importance of transparency in love and healing. Though these topics are deep, Violet presents them in a way that is simplistic and refreshing.

Solider story the best

Thank you for writing a story about wounded and fallen soldiers. I'm a veteran and I love reading about my brothers and sisters. The characters are beautiful and your descriptions are vivid in my mind. I had hoped Talon's mom would have come around. I will keep my fingers 🤞.

lovely, lovely, deep and naughty

A group of women who are all best friends make resolutions to improve their lives. They represent diverse careers. They all have sad stories to share but keep each other focused and unconditionally loved.
This story is about one of them, a registered nurse and a wounded veteran. We are taken on an intriguing and surprising journey. Loved it!

Nice story but rushed

This story had so much potential but it was so rushed with no plot twist. I get the whole ordeal of a fairytale I just wished it was longer. Minor grammatical errors but it was a ok story.

Sweet!

This my first time reading this author’s work. And what a great start! Talon (love the name) despite his injuries was strong and sexy. Ameerah was what the doctor ordered. Boy did she “nurse” him back to health!

Beautiful Story

Talk about not judging a man by how he looks but by compassion, seeing what type heart he posses and loving enough to give a man what he needs. I enjoyed this story. You will love the ending.
