This is one of the best self-help books I’ve come across in a while. The author expands on seven main points: vision (mindset), goal setting, resilience, instant gratification, habits, friends, and lifelong learning. While some of these topics may have been covered before, the author offers fresh perspectives on those you already know about and offers new science-based strategies you likely have not heard applied in this manner. The author really embraced the philosophy of, “The moment you stop fighting for what you want, what you don’t want will automatically appear.” He applied this philosophy to the seven principles within this book.
Personally, the vision principle really spoke to me because I am a creative person. The author notes that creative people tend to be visionaries and can see things for what they can be rather than what they are. However, I had never considered applying that to myself on a personal level. I liked that the concept of creating yourself and transforming your mindset is a considerable influence on you as a person. This is just one of the golden nuggets shared in this book.
If you are looking for proven methods for personal development, this book is for you. It walks you through how to develop the best version of yourself from a unique perspective. Moreover, throughout each chapter, there are self-assessment exercises that allow you to apply what you just learned, further capitalizing on your development. Also, the book is very relatable, and you can see parts of yourself exemplified throughout the book. The book is informative, inspirational, and relevant to your life at all stages of life. I would definitely recommend this book to any and everyone!
