Will love find a way, or will it all explode like the nightly fireworks?
Roller Coaster Romance is a secret workplace romance with sweet slow-burn chemistry, assorted theme park hijinks, and a wish-upon-a-star happy ending.
Roller Coaster Romance by Kate Moseman Contemporary romance. Closed door. Vanessa Jones just started a new management job at Destiny Park. No time for training, she needs to jump right in learning people, amusement rides, safety and layout. And there is a lot going on at Destiny Park.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook narrated by Angelina Rocca who did a wonderful performance. The different characters were distinct and unique even when chapter headings told you whose POV it was. Emotions were clear such as Thomas worrying about the new hire, and the anxiety of the unionization. The audiobook made the personalities come to life. Definitely recommended.
I did listen to this at 1.5 to more closely match my reading and conversation speed. I did notice one or two editing corrections but they flowed smoothly without any duplications or hiccups. Overall a great audiobook production and a sweet romance with a great group of characters. 4 upped to 4.5 based on the audiobook
When I saw this cover, I was just drawn to this book. What I thought would be a romance with theme park vibes actually became a deeper story of union rights. It was fun to discover this made up work of a theme park, and as a HUGE Disney fan, I loved the description of the parks.
Definitely NOT a simple HEA here, but enjoyable with well fleshed out characters.
We meet Vanessa as she is interviewing for a management position at Destiny Park. She has no idea that Thomas, an employee there, is quietly working to unionize the park's workers. As they work against each other, chemistry sparks, and two people on opposites sides start to pull toward each other. This was a VERY quick listen, at less than 5 hours total, I was able to listen in one sitting, and enjoyed it, although I was expecting more whimsy and romance. Thank you to NetGalley for the audio copy of this book.
Fun little romance novella! Nothing groundbreaking but I enjoyed it and think it’s worth the read if you go in knowing it’s just a quick read. I wish it was a tad longer to dive into the characters a bit more, but the storyline was fun and I liked the ending :)
This is contemporary romance with a little bit of a difference and one that will be enjoyed by many and not just fans of the genre. Definitely try this little gem!
⭐3.5 stars⭐ Just finished listening to the book, Roller Coaster Romance. This book was released in 2019 but the audio is about to be released on June 17th, and I was chosen to receive an arc of the audio. This was about Vanessa, who gets a management job at Destiny Park. As she gets to know her new job and employees, she finds out a bunch of the employees don't like the working conditions they are in, things are unsafe and some of the employees are doing something about it. Her boss wants to keep things the way they are, rather than spend money on safety and better working conditions. So he puts Vanessa right in the middle of all of this and tells her to take care of it. Now she is stuck between listening to her boss to keep her job and doing what is right for her employees. The romance part of this story was minimal but it was still sweet. This had a deeper storyline and hit some hard workplace topics about unsafe working environments, greedy bosses, and doing what's right even when there's a risk. Overall this was a quick, fun book I enjoyed listening to! 🩷📚
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this audio ARC of Roller Coaster Romance, in exchange for an honest review.
This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was not the book for me. There was no real action, the romance wasn't really that interesting and the writing could use some work.
Writing style: The writing got better at the end of the book, but by then I was already quite annoyed at the lack of details and flat story.
Characters: You can see that the author tried very hard to give everyone a different personality, but it fell short for me. All characters were a little flat, they had no backstories, I barely got a physical description and I've already forgotten half the names and I only just finished the book.
Story: It's supposed to be a romance story, but I don't get a romantic feel from this book. It's mostly focused on employees getting a union and the higher ups doing everything they can to stop it. It felt a little childish, a story you would write in high school for a creative writing class. Very uninspired.
Cover: I do want to mention that I absolutely love the cover of this book. The colors and art are so pretty 😍
I always feel kind of bad when an author approaches me to review their book and I don't like it. But if they read my reviews then they know I'm brutally honest, but will always be clear on what I didn't like. This book just really wasn't for me. It was a quick read though so it doesn't feel like I wasted my time. This book gets 2,5 stars from me.
This was a sweet kissing only romance novella set at an amusement park that sees the new manager assigned to break up the park employee's attempts to organize a union and of course she ends up falling for the man who is leading the union campaign. If you like forbidden workplace romances that are light on the spice and have a fun cast of characters definitely check this out. It was a fast, lighthearted read and good on audio too.
Vanessa’s new job is a highly coveted management position at the world famous Destiny Park. To succeed, she has to impress the big boss while simultaneously managing the crew of quirky employees who run the rides. She didn’t plan in one of them stealing her heart… in between operating a mine train and a haunted house, Thomas is working undercover to unionise his fellow employees. But he isn’t prepared to go head to head with a new boss while falling head over heels for her. She’s everything he wants - and everything he’s fighting against. Will love find a way, or will this romance run off the rails like a runaway mine cart?
This was a quick, fun and quirky read. Definitely a pallet cleanser book. I read this book within a few days and would recommend to some people.
The to mc’s were okay, nothing special about them. Felt like sometimes the chemistry was a little forced between them. And the storyline got a little boring at times and a little repetitive about the unionisation of the employees. I also felt at times the book was a little rushed and there was little to no character development.
Overall, the book wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great.
Thank you @netgalley for sending me an early release in exchange for an honest review.
The title of this book is 'Roller Coaster Romance' but honestly there was not a decent drop of romance to the story at all. A little flirtation maybe but not what I would consider romance. Also it was very political with all the unionizing trope going on in the background. That was very, very uninteresting to me. More character development and more romance would help this audio book. I also thought the narrator was dull and lackluster. Sorry, not my thing. 2 stars.
The narration wasn't my favorite. I'm not sure if it was the narrator or if it was just not a good fit. This is likely an audio editing issue, but for a while, everything seemed to run together between chapters and POV switching, too.
The story premise/blurb seemed interesting. However, upon listening to it, it had a very simple, vapid style. Was expecting a loop de loop rollercoaster ride, but ended up on a kiddie train. It kind of went like this: ".....", she said. "......", he said. ".....", said Vanessa. ".....", said Thomas. You see where I'm going with this? In my opinion, I think with more details and descriptives, it would have been a little more enjoyable. Instead, it was a trip back to elementary, but without the illustrations to draw and keep my attention.
On the rom-com front, it was mostly casual flirting, but again, nothing remarkable or swoon-worthy.
Unfortunately, it was a struggle to find a connection to these characters and this story. I almost decided to DNF, but went ahead and listened to it in entirety since it was pretty short compared to other audiobooks I've listened to previously.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 originally was pulled in by the cover of this book and thinking it’s kind of like a Disney theme park romance. I honestly was pretty surprised that it wasn’t just a romance, but also heavy on the union right of the workers in the park and fighting back. As a factory worker who is always adamant about the quality of life that’s given to workers like myself. This really hit a hard subject for me. It was interesting to see our female main character being the person that was interviewing for a management position and our male main character was a worker within the park that was secretly bringing everyone together unionizing the workers. It was a really short audiobook, so I still highly recommend it. I enjoyed it.
I seem to have a thing for books set in a theme park. i can't get enough, lol. this was cute almost enemies to lovers. they never really were enemies but because they were in a management/union sistuations, they were on opposite sides. i think this was skillfully written so that it stayed a sweet romance with that litte uncertainty that things would work out in the end. i'm still not sure it's a hapily ever after. and that is the appeal of this book. the ending was hopeful but it was kinda messy like real life.
Even though this book is promoted as a romance, there’s more depth than one might expect. Yes, the romance angle is prevalent, but the story also delves into workplace conditions and safety, unionization and the balancing act management often must play in order to support workers while adhering to expectations set by the business owners. While this wasn’t quite the whimsical, feel good romance I was anticipating, it was nevertheless a cute story and an enjoyable listening experience. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
Thank you @NetGalley and @VictoryEditing for the audio ARC. Kate Moseman has written such a cute and fun book. Vanessa is newly hired at an amusement park, not realizing that management has been worried about unionizing. She sees both sides of the friction and will stay true to herself and do what she feels is best. Thomas is her trainer and the one who wants a union. I loved the chemistry of Vanessa and Thomas, such a cute fast read.
This was more a workplace novella than a romance novella. For me not enough focus was on their relationship as it was on the whole workplace intricacies.
I did think some very important worker’s rights and issues were highlighted so overall the book was good just not exactly what the book is marketed as.
Angelina Rocca narrated well.
Thank you NetGalley, Kate Moseman, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and Fortunella Press for giving me an advance listener’s copy of this book!
The book didn’t kept me hooked on to it. I liked the character of Vanessa but I couldn’t connect much or get into the book. I felt like the plot wasn’t strong enough. I did like the writing style but. It was amazing. I think there should have been more Thomas and Vanessa romance than union thing. I liked the union part but it was too much , it seemed like the book was about it only.
This story wasn’t really for me. I felt like it could have more potential but it was kinda flat. I enjoyed Vanessa as a character but I knew who she was going to get with from the beginning. Thomas was kinda interesting and mysterious. I wish the romance was a little stronger in this though considering the title has the word romance in it! I wasn’t sure how I felt about Dirk and I definitely didn’t like Mr. Destiny. Don’t expect any backstories with the characters besides Vanessa and the descriptions of the crew members were a little weird and could have used work also. Two Bobs but one is tall and one is short and one of them like yogurt?? Could the author just not decide on another name for one more character? This story pretty much is just about the union and upper management doesn’t want anything to do with it. I wasn’t really expecting it to end the way it did but I also felt that the ending could be better with more details. I feel like I definitely judged this book by its cover though and should have read the blurb a little better and maybe skipped this one? The cover is beautiful though!
I enjoyed this; the characters were loveable, the plot was interesting, and the narration for the audiobook was well done. However, given using the word 'romance' in the title, the romance was more of a subplot in the book. This is a book about workplace politics and unionizing. There just so happens to be two characters who have a little crush on each other.
I received an ALC of this book from the author and am sharing my honest opinion.
I received this as an ARC and am giving my honest review voluntarily. This is not your typical romance book but it is a sweet story of a woman trying to navigate her new job while trying to do right by her staff even if she has to go against the powers that be. Vanessa feels an attraction to one of her staff members who unfortunately is working against the higher-ups. I enjoyed this storyline about Unions and how they affect the staff and corporations. Vanessa and Thomas are a couple you can get behind and the writer wrote a realistic story of a couple who meet, work together for a common cause and take it slow.
A fast paced story that was a bit different than romance stories I normally read. This is the first book by this author that I've read and it was a bit refreshing to read something a little different. Sometimes having a romantic relationship with someone on the opposite side of a situation isn't always easy. This story is told in 2 different POV's.

I have managed to read Roller Coaster Romance at just the right point in my life, where I couldn't work out what I was really in the mood to read but knew I needed to get lost in a story. It was fast-paced and refreshing to read especially with the union issue which was so relatable for me a few years back when I was working in a Japanese Company. It's hard when an important person in your life or even just an acquaintance is on the opposing side. Everything changed a lot and unfortunately I've dealt the negative side of it. I'm not into dual POV but it's nice to read Thomas's perspective it made me realized things I wish I would've understood in the past. Overall I just wish this book was longer, to build up the characters more.
"Roller Coaster Romance" by Kate Moseman was an enjoyable read. I liked the characters and reading about an amusement park. When Vanessa gets hired at the amusement park, she gets into a little more than she thought she would with this job. She finds out that the employees are working unsafe and wants to make a difference and make it a safe environment for everyone. The only thing is that her boss wants nothing to do with that. He also catches wind of someone trying to bring in the union. Overall, I really enjoyed the characters in this book and the storyline. I would have to say my favorite part is when Vanessa takes care of the employees with buying pizza and drinks for them.
3.5 Stars! This book was a super quick, light, quirky rom-com that takes you on a ride—quite literally! Sparks fly as the characters navigate the ups and downs (pun intended) of their relationship, all while dealing with the chaos of running a theme park.
To be honest, it took me a while to get into the book. The beginning felt a bit slow, and I didn’t instantly connect with the characters. However, once the story picked up, the charm started to shine through. Moseman’s witty humor and the unique setting made it stand out from typical rom-coms. The theme park backdrop added a fun twist, especially for anyone who's ever been fascinated by amusement parks or worked in one. The character's banter is playful, and though the romance develops predictably, it’s still enjoyable to watch.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted, easy read with a dash of humor and a sprinkle of romance, Roller Coaster Romance is a cute pick.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC for an honest review.
Vanessa is thrilled to get her dream job as a manager at Destiny Theme Park. She’s a little nervous the first day at her new job, but well prepared. Thomas is the employee assigned to introduce her to each of the different areas of the park and how they operate. Vanessa and Thomas both share an instant appeal for the other. Both keep these feelings under wraps, upper management and employee relationships are frowned on, I suppose. At any rate it’s a good policy. Vanessa is also unaware of the situation she has been dropped into accepting this new job. The Union is trying to entice the employees to join, and Vanessa, being upper management, has to side with her boss or lose her job. This creates a stressful, suspenseful, and intriguing conflict between Vanessa wanting the best outcome for her employees and still having to side with her employer. She has also been tasked to uncover who is organizing the ride operators.
On her mission she starts to spend as much time with Thomas as she can, while at work, to find out if he is promoting the union. All this time together starts heat to build in their relationship. I enjoyed the character development of the key players, even Dirk, the resident brown-noser. Vanessa tries to keep him busy trying to keep him out of and from causing trouble, which he is very good at. I liked Vanessa’s character, she is intelligent, down to earth, and astute. Thomas with his costume hats sitting at a rakish angle always made me smile. I loved his confidence and humor.
“Roller Coaster Romance” is different from other sweet romances I’ve read. I really enjoyed the smartly written plot, characters, and dialogue. This would be a great summer read.
FYI: Nice, clean, and entertaining read. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** July 20, 2020. Format/Typo Issues: No issues.
A great short listen! I loved being sucked into the drama of employees vs leadership and the theme park was an unique setting. I liked how the FMC stood up for justice even when it wasn’t the easy path, great representation of a strong female in a leadership role. I would like to see a bit more story development but for the length of this read I think it was good. This is definitely a more plot based read and romance takes the backseat. With this being a dual pov book I think the narrator did a great job reading both sides and had a great range in voices. Give this audiobook a listen when it releases on June 17th 2025.

Vanessa just got her dream job working at Destiny Park. She will be running the Legacy area, what she didn’t realize is she was walking into an interesting situation. The employees were fighting to unionize and would be voting in less than a month. Leadership was strongly opposed to this change and Vanessa was now thrown in the middle.
Thomas is leading the unionization efforts for Destiny employees. He was attracted to his new boss and he’s been tasked with training her on the attractions within Legacy area. As they grew closer he wasn’t sure where she stood and if he could trust her. Then after a manger meeting he realized she was more than she appeared.
Vanessa would do everything she could to fight the good fight but as tensions rise doing the right thing may cost her the dream job she just got.

Vanessa has just been hired as the new manager at a huge theme park in Florida. Her first few days involve training at the different rides in her area, and the trainer for new employees is Thomas. Thomas has been organizing the employees behind the scenes into voting yes to unionizing, which puts him and Vanessa at odds. As Vanessa is told by upper management to discourage the unions, she begins to listen to the complaints from the employees, seeing how some things can easily be fixed, but upper management refuses to help, she begins to sympathize with the employees. And the more her and Thomas spend time with one another, the more she finds herself falling for him.
This is really cute and short. I love the rides that she has to monitor and learn, especially since we know what the amusement park is based off of and what rides are beings based on them and everything. You have the Victorian Factory which is my favorite ride that was described in this book and I love the real-life counpeterpart. I do love her and Thomas together , and I thought they were very cute. They are supposed to be enemies, but from the very beginning they were very much enamored with one another I found. All the union talk gpt to be a little much at time but it makes sense because that's the whole point of what they're doing. I loved the ending and how everything was resolved, even if it would've been nice to see upper management have to deal with the fallout of things. Overall this was cute, it was short, and I like the ending. Oh, and upper management sucks.
