It's harder today than ever before for independent filmmakers to make money with their films. From predatory film distributors ripping them off to huckster film aggregators who prey upon them, the odds are stacked against the indie filmmaker. The old distribution model for making money with indie film is broken and there needs to be a change. The future of independent filmmaking is the entrepreneurial filmmaker or the Filmtrepreneur(R). In Rise of the Filmtrepreneur(R) author and filmmaker Alex Ferrari breaks down how to actually make money with independent film projects and shows filmmakers how to turn their indie films into profitable businesses. This is not all theory, Alex uses multiple real-world case studies to illustrate each part of his method. This book shows you the step by step way to turn your filmmaking passion into a profitable career. If you are making a feature film, series or any kind of video content, The Filmtrepreneur(R) Method will set you up for success.
If you’re considering purchasing this book, chances are you’ve come to know Alex from one of his podcasts. But don’t let that lure you into believing you’ve heard it all just yet. This book is a deep dive into the ever-changing world of filmmaking. If you’ve ever wondered how you can make a healthy full-time living from your skill or hobby, this is a quintessential guide to help you do just that.
What a shit book. You're a grifter. Shame on you for exploiting people for this shitty pay-for-advice cash grab. I had heard such good things about you but oh my good god, the greed with which you have written this book, and that obnoxious cover, and those utterly farfetched scenarios!! Making a company out of your film?? A mini-Netflix??? What the Fuck man.. We all have bills to pay but what you're doing is an extreme disservice to the filmmaking community. Zero respect for the author.
Being a filmmaker for a decade, struggling between the art & business of it has been excruciating. Alex not only shows you the ropes but also inspires. Not only with his podcast but also with this book. In the ever-changing market place its inevitable wearing multiple hats, the best you can wear (& do some good for everyone, including you) is taking the #filmtrepreneur one.
This book is a revelation for the filmmakers / artists (including me) who were trying the traditional distribution models, it clears the smoke off showing you multiple paths. Ideas or advice are only good when put into practice. I'm looking forward to implement some of them on my feature film journey #MarchTheMovie
I was a little sceptical when I was purchasing this book. Because again another film book telling you how to be a film maker by someone with no skin in the game.
WRONG. not only does Alex have skin in the game but she shares the good the bad and the ugly of his experiences and others he has worked with. Combine that with the blueprint of how to succeed in this modern era of technology and you have a great book that leaves you with all the knowledge you need to step into the ocean of film making.
Probably the most useful book on filmmaking in the current marketplace, or indeed at all, ever. This was 100000% written for people like me who don't want to wait for Hollywood to get a clue so that we can achieve our dreams. If you are an independent, I highly recommend. I will be revisiting sections of this book in the future for sure.
Alex has put together an easily digested look at how today's independent filmmakers have to approach the business of building and leveraging niche productions with multiple revenue streams. If you follow his podcasts, you know how he approaches his filmmaking. This book distills it down into 200 pages of gold.
Anyone looking to make a living from filmmaking should read this one.
I follow Alex in 2017. His podcast has been an amazing source of inspiration. He really wants to help you. he doesn't hide the fact that he wants to make money with his products but is the only one who lives a dies by his words. Others will teach you things, but he really makes them. He is talking by experience in this book. Anyone looking to make a living from filmmaking should read this one.
Packed with useful advice for any filmmaker looking to make a living!
This is an epic book! It’s full of amazing and actionable advice for anyone who wants to make money off their projects. I love all the suggestions for additional revenue streams. Highly recommend. What a gem!
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the mindset (that we make art for the sole sake of profit) that this book promotes, but I also wholly understand the necessity of success in one’s career to support oneself and one’s art- so they might continue on their quest.
