At the heart of a world famous fairytale, there's a murder mystery.
Premise: In the night of the Prince's wedding to a human noblewoman, the Little Mermaid threw herself overboard instead of killing her beloved Prince to save her own life, but two nights later, the Prince was still found stabbed to death outside of the castle.
Everyone in the kingdom believed the murderer was the Prince's 'missing mute maidservant', but one of the Little Mermaid's older sisters, a mermaid princess called Selena, made a deal with the sea witch in exchange for a pair of human legs so she could go to the human world and clear her dead sister's name. If she failed to do this, according to her deal with the sea witch, she would die in the seventh day.
In order to save Selena's life, the young Hans Christian Andersen and a mysterious man who called himself 'Mister Greene' must investigate the murder mystery of why the well beloved prince would be killed.
It's an interesting fairytale re-imagining with a crime & detective angle to it.
The revealing of the real villain at the ending part, it's a bit surprising but at the same time not so very surprising. So
I welcome the appearance of Hans Christian Anderson as a young boy trying to save the mermaid princess Selena, plus the mysterious 'Mr. Greene' is also refreshing. I like all the three main characters and the explanation of the murder mystery although I'm not very happy with the part about in the end.
