Homing on his target, Eddie realized two things. First, he only had one shot. Second, it was an impossible shot.
If you like Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Ted Bell's Alex Hawke, Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp, WEB Griffin's Killer McCoy, Stephen Hunter's Bob Lee Swagger, and Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne, you will love Sam Wick and TF-77 universe.
I have read a number of short stories from Chase Austin. They are all set in the Sam Wick universe and contains different aspects of Taskforce 77 and what they do. There's everything from recruitment to doing missions all over the world.
A great little short story how Eddie got picked for TF-77 earlier published as Singular force. Wicked Shot by Chase Austin a book in the confusing Sam Wick Universe.
This will be my second go at this Sam Wick short. Since it’s short I will see if the published verseion has improved on the editing. As the title suggests this story is about a sniper. The author seems to like violence. I’d like to hear what someone who’s actually been in the sandbox thinks about stories such as this.
Th book I just read is an entirely new read, if there’s an editor responsible for the transformation he/she earned every penny of his/her meager pay.
A Charles Austin Action/Adventure Short Story. As the title suggests the tale involves sniper action. The text needs further editing. I have one major quibble. Is Martinez Rovan Eddie’s sniper partner or Wilson’s; I don’t see him working well with both. Soldiers in the field are in peril from the environment and the enemy. It is a weak leader who allows bullying to go on in his unit. Their fellow soldiers should support them.
The way Chase writes is totally different from other authors of this genre and it's very much engaging. The reader becomes the main protagonist without any conscious effort. Each book feels better than the previous one in narration and style. Keep the books coming. 👍👍👍
Another good one! Chase Austin has given us yet another episode of suspense and adventure. I've adored Sam Wick since the first book...and I think Eddie Vicar will soon become a favorite. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for someone to turn these into a TV series and/or movies.
ONE THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE TREAT!!! Thrilling! Chase doesn't bat an eye putting it out there with this heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, nailbiting, page flipping bombshell, that's as captivating as it is riveting. A multitude of unexpected mishaps and daunting circumstances blasts those chilling emotions into play front and center, fusing this bad boy together sleek, shiny and tight. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, kicking this baby into a tempest, booting it into a frenzy with a life-altering culmination. Maneuvering through intimidating trials and challenging tribulations, noting the startling twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Rousting the drama, intrigue, tension, turmoil, underlying currents, mounting suspense and nerve racking situations along with a boatload of danger while dodging disaster, you have one mind-blowing experience. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Incredible job Chase, thanks for sharing this little fella with us.
Intriguing short story in the Sam Wick series, the author gave us an in-depth look at the intricacies involved in being a skilled sniper. It was sad and somewhat surprising to read about Eddie being bullied by the others on his team. Doesn’t the military have team-building exercises to aid the men in working well together and having each other’s backs? In spite of the long hours that Eddie had to prepare/plan/wait for the perfect conditions to make that one important shot, the story moved along surprisingly fast, and I was caught up in the “action” from start to finish. I have read several other of the Sam Wick books, and have liked them all. I would have liked to see more of Wick in this one, but it was good to get the background on Eddie. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author, and am giving my honest opinion.
Violence and war are not my thing, so sometimes I am reluctant to go to this type of story. Yet, let me tell you, Chase Austin does not disappoint. He knows how to get your attention. The characters come alive, the setting feels real and the situation is usually critical. It is direct and to the point and you cannot stop reading. What an awesome intro to what is to come…at least we know that Sam Wick remains in action. Once hooked, you will continually want to stay in the loop. I look forward to more sharply related, fast paced missions, intriguingly and creatively written – less is more.
Part 2- After Wick kills Marco, he and Eddie are on route to leave Albania. They are followed by Marco’s men and attacked. Eddie is injured and taken by the Enterprise and Wick was ejected out of the car and is on his own. Wick only option to get Eddie back is to rescue and trade him for Murat, the son of Bajrush Asani, owner of the Enterprise. Murat is being held prisoner by Zak, Asani’s biggest threat, in an abandoned village in the middle of a forest. From this point forward Wick goes into a one man army mode. It’s intense, action packed and unexpected twists and turns. Another winner and page turner.
I received this book/novella from the author for agreeing to be part of his ARC team in exchange for an honest review.
This novella is a definite quick read that I am assuming is designed to give you a little background on some of the members of TF-77, the team of special operators lead by Sam Wick.
The novella would be a favourite of any military/action afficendo.
As far as drawbacks, the only one that I could see was that story could easily have been fleshed out a bit more.
As far as rating this novella, i would give this three and three quarter stars out of five.
As with all reviews, this is just my five cents worth.
This is the back-story of how Eddy became a member of TF-77.
Eddy and Martinez, his spotter, are members of a two teams of snipers in this short story. The teams are tasked with taking out an ISIS sniper known as Torpedo. When Torpedo's location is out-of-site to the other team, Eddy volunteers to get into position to take the shot. He's a winner if he succeeds, and in trouble if he doesn't. And it's an "Impossible Shot" to make.
If you take the time to read this story, and you are not familiar with Sam Wick series, you will definitely want to start reading all of them.
Very interesting book. Lots of action. Sam Wick is a “Rambo” character and very likable. He is tasked with infiltrating Zak’s territory in a forest in Albania and bringing home the son of a powerful Enterprise leader who is an enemy of Zak. Resourceful and excellent strategist Sam is able to survive the grueling conditions but will he be able to escape with the college student and be able to exchange him for his partner who was captured at the end of the previous book? Definitely did not like the “bad” guys. Power hungry people make some poor decisions.
Wow, what a rollercoaster of a ride. Non-stop action, it hardly gives you time to take a breath. The book follows on from Wicked Storm so for me, it is best to read them in order. Having said that it could be a stand alone, but where is the fun in that? I will now read the next book in the series, Wicked Kill. A big thank you to the author Chase Austin and from me a well deserved 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chase Austin is one of the best. He draws you into a story right from the start and through to the ending. Wick the leader of TF 77 is a strong and fearless character, but this book is not about him. It is a book that gives you an inside look into a new member of TF 77 which is Eddie super sniper. There is a lot of suspense and it all comes down to making the impossible shot.
This is a Task force 77 short story that seems to be Eddie’s origin story, it will be interesting to see how he is incorporated into the future stories. It would have been nice if this story had gone a little further into various things that happened but weren’t covered in any detail.
Another excellent action thriller in the Sam Wick series. Very well written with plenty of action and several twists. A real page turner with great characters. Highly recommended and quite enjoyable story.
This is the backstory for Eddie, a member of Task Force 77. How he was treated and then recruited was riveting. It's a very short story that can be read in about an hour. You don't want to miss it!
The story was well done and the Eddie the main character seemed to get the wrong end of the stick in his latest tour. Sam Wick shows up in the end to see if Eddie is worth recruiting.
This is the second from the Sam Wick collection. I m hooked. The writing is awesome and loving the characters. Can’t wait to read what’s next. Def worth reading
