This was incredible fun with a sassy, extraordinaire heroine, with a great injection of inappropriate swearing. The world building is contemporary with a dose of the bizarre and paranormal. This novel isn’t infused with lots of meaningless sex, and this keeps the tale in the forefront. The characters are all distinctive with well defined traits and the story also includes a dose of mystery. I’m already holding out for the next book but there seems to be no indication of just when that might be.

Omg I am having the hardest time starting this review. I will start off by saying I really enjoyed the plot. I like the direction in which the conflict is going. The main character also seems like a sensible human being. She got back up after her boyfriend cheated. She also is a stripper and totally owns her sexuality. Speaking of sexuality, at the beginning of this book she hinted at liking both boys and girls but that went absolutely nowhere. I am kind of upset about this.
Anyways, all books have there flaws and it is time to dive into those. The main character tends to overreact about some thing and not react to others. I was left confused because 80% of the book she was pretty levelheaded.
The guys are what I really had a problem with. I COULD NOT TEEL THEM APART! They were literally the same person I swear. If I am being honest I don’t even remember their names..and I read the whole series yesterday...
Overall would recommend but make sure to write names and personality traits down.

Cool concept, ok presentation
I really like the idea behind this plot - six deadly sins charged with keeping the balance. It’s intriguing - yet I found the execution of that concept a little flat. Ria was hard to relate to, at least for me. She may speak more clearly to others, but my sympathy was lacking, even though she is so very obviously the 7th sin, no matter what pride says. Perhaps book 2 will perk up my opinion.
Pros:
- Interesting Plot with a revamped mythos.
- Dera is pretty awesome.
- I really enjoyed how Ria is fully aware of who and what she is (woman wise, not sin wise).
Cons:
- Writing was a little too flat in places and struggled with an over the top feel in other spots.
- Characters lacked relatability.
- Reactions made little sense, even in the guise of mental trauma.

Book one in the brand new Deadly Omen series and what a great start it is too. We meet Ria, a stripper, just as she comes home to find her fiance in a compromising position. She packs up and takes off driving until she ends up in a small town that seems to draw her in. Enter some quirky ladies and she decides to stay taking a room that comes with some surprise roommates. This is the set up for some really hilarious (and hot) situations as everyone meets the others. I was loving the inner dialogue that Ria has going on. It cracked me up and I found myself relating more then I thought I would. Enter some awesome magic and a touch of crazy stuff to create a fascinating paranormal RH novel that you will not want to put down. I look forward to book two since I have to know where this is going and since I really liked it it gets 4/5 stars.

January 13, 2022DNF at 28%. All the guys were confusing. I couldn’t tell anyone apart. Ria was immature. But I think what made me stop reading was the writing style. Did not flow. Reminded ,e of my stories I wrote during middle school.

This was interesting. It is definitely in need of another strong edit to fix typos and small continuity issues, but it is based on a unique enough premise that I found myself sticking with it.
The basic concept of the Seven Deadly Sins being men, brothers, that have lived throughout existence and whose task is to ensure that enough sin exists to maintain free will. They also must remove excess sin to be sure it does not overwhelm the balance. In this story, they have somehow lost one of their number (the lone female Sin - Lust, of course) and have gotten a little lost as a result.
The story picks up with Ria - a happy, soon-to-be-married, enthusiastic stripper - who has been running from her former life as the child of a very abusive preacher who had tried to beat the sin out of her most of her life. And of course, events transpire to bring Ria into contact with the sexy-as-sin remaining Six Deadly Sins. The unique twists on a couple of the Sins - especially Sloth, Gluttony, and Envy - are intriguing.
This plot, and its creativity, are the best aspects of the book. Unfortunately, Ria can be quite annoying with her inability to think anything through and the constant inner monologue that the author felt necessary to show her sass and snark. But there is potential, if both Ria and the author can tone it down a bit. The men have a ton of potential, though they are unfortunately a bit one-dimensional at the moment. Serious character development is needed across the board.
The pacing of the plot is a little wonky, and things jump occasionally - moving forward without a visible progression of events to support it. This goes back to the need for another strong edit and additional scenes to fill in the continuity errors and plot holes.
But all in all, I am intrigued enough to read the second book, though I wasn't wowed by this one.

Not great. I like what the author was trying to do here. Ria is determined to be her own person. She shows backbone when she finds her boyfriend cheating. She has a meaningful friendship with another woman (i.e. not all other women are the enemy). She's not afraid or ashamed of her own sexuality and doesn't agonize over it.
However, I think Saren failed in a lot of the execution. The inner-self was so overused that Ria simply felt mentally unhinged. It became a little more bearable when it was hinted toward the end that she might actually have a split personality. But as it was, I cringed (often literally) whenever Ria started describing her inner-self, complete with what she was wearing, how she was walking, what expression she had on her face, the tone of her voice, etc. I wanted Inner-Self to die and go away.
Secondly, the six heroes. This was majorly problematic for me for two reasons. The first being that I couldn't keep them all straight and tell them apart. Saren gave them accents and habits, but six men filling the same role is just too many. Secondly, this book is referred to as a reverse harem. Ria only actually has sex with two of them (I think, definitely not more). But it felt super icky to me because she seemed a lot more like a little sister that they all got to fondle and fuck. (Or maybe she got to fuck her big brothers, as she was perfectly willing to initiate the act, which I did appreciate.) What's more, Ria is a serious case of fawned over by all the males for being special, while not really doing anything particularly special beyond existing.
Lastly (and this is a big one for me), the mystery/villian. It's secondary to the plot, not even being addressed until the halfway mark. Then, one red herring villain is dispatched off-page and super anticlimactically. Cue Ria's too-stupid-to-live tantrum because the men won't listen to her about another villain still being at large (and they act surprised when this turns out to be true). But come one, the man stabbed her with a magical athame and by all description looked like a freakin' zombie. This did not fly as something centuries-old, experienced people would miss. I 100% think the author forgot she'd included the stabbing in her plot. (I'm only half joking here.)
All in all, readable, but not a real winner for me. The narrator did a great job though.

This is a fantastic story, exciting and well written with great characters. It could do with a little editing and there were some spelling mistakes but that can easily be rectified and it in no way detracting from the awesomeness of the story.
I am really looking forward to the next book in the series, this is a new author and I will be keeping an eye out to see what they come up with next

Persevere to 35%.
From the first page I was banging my head against the wall. Over peppy arrogant stripper bragging about her perfect life only to walk in and find her best friend and fiancée getting it on. From there it was a new town, a new life, Instant new friend and free place to live. I was hanging on hoping the guys would redeem the story. I didn’t start getting into the story until 35% of the way through when things started to happen and Ria seems to magically get a personality transplant. I like the plot and the whole deadly sins concept. Little reality but it’s fun, entertaining and I do wanna read the next one.

The premise of this story was so different that I wasn’t sure how I would react to it. I’m happy to say that I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the next book. Ria is such a fun character. I think that her inner rambling is something more than what is portrayed and I can’t wait to see if my suspicions are correct. The Sin men are all very different and at this point I’m not sure who my favorite is. But that’s ok because in this fiction world I can have my cake and eat it too! Give it a read if you like some laughter mixed in with all the other emotions!

Holy toledo sweet baby lanta. Ria is so witty and so damn sassy. She has perfected the art of inappropriately timed curse words, and I love it. I already have decided that we'd be best friends. She is so comfortable with who she is and just doesn't give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks of her. Ria is such a strong woman, but at the same time she has a vulnerability to her. She is able to take everything the guys throw at her and just roll with the punches. Her nicknaming skills are fabulous and I cannot wait to see what else she decides to call Kellan. We have gotten hints of Ria's tragic past and those little tidbits are a punch right in the emotional gut. There is still so much to explore about her past, but the pieces that have been given so far are tragically beautiful.
Each of the guys had their own personalities and didn't blend into one voice at all. Sometimes that can be a tricky thing with reverse harem novels, but Jenica has mastered that aspect here. I had a feeling from the title that the storyline was going to have something to do with the Seven Deadly Sins, and damn I was as a giddy as a school girl when it came to be true. Each of the brothers represented their sins so well, but in a more modern and non cheesy way. The playfulness of glutton, the duality with wrath of hot tempered and teddy bear, the efficiency and care of sloth, and the loyalty of envy were all so damn intriguing and endearing. I'm still trying to get more of a grasp on pride and greed, but so far I still love them. I cannot wait to get to know the Severin brothers more and see how each of their relationships with Ria continues to grow.
A moment of appreciation for our secondary characters Clove and Drea. Clove is such a batty and eccentric old woman, but you can't help but love her. I feel like she is quite the little trickster and I can't wait to see how her role plays out with the story. I just want to take Drea under my wing and mother hen the shit out of her. She is so damn precious and I just want to smite all the assholes that give her any grief. Her bond with the brothers is so adorable and I'm loving the friendship that is developing between her and Ria. Jenica, I swear to sweet lanta you better not touch one hair on my precious Drea's head.
So far the world building is contemporary with a taste of fantasy, and it has been executed beautifully. I have to admit, the descriptions of the town kind of gives me a Stars Hollow vibe and I'm here for it. Jenica really paints a picture for you to see the world around them. One of my favorite scenes involves Ria pole dancing and I swear I could actually see the scene before me as it played out. The witty banter is another of my favorite things. When Ria is going back and forth with the brothers it often led to me cackling out loud like a maniac. Even Ria's banter with inner Ria (baby Ria, internal Ria, the devil on her shoulder?) was comical and entertaining to see.
Ria was in dire need of a fresh start and boy did she get one. She wasn't expecting to find herself a little family amongst the Severin brothers and Drea, but damn if it didn't come right when she needed it. I have a feeling things are going to get much darker and more complicated as we go. I need to prepare my heart. I am so looking forward to how things play out from here. I'm officially addicted to these sins.

Even Ria's banter with inner Ria (baby Ria, internal Ria, the devil on her shoulder?) was comical and entertaining to see.
Ria was in dire need of a fresh start and boy did she get one. She wasn't expecting to find herself a little family amongst the Severin brothers and Drea, but damn if it didn't come right when she needed it. I have a feeling things are going to get much darker and more complicated as we go. I need to prepare my heart. I am so looking forward to how things play out from here. I'm officially addicted to these sins.

3 Stars- It was good!
This is the first book i’ve read by this author, and I honestly enjoyed it a lot. It was well written, and had an interesting and somewhat unique storyline.
BUT, at times it could be a little confusing, felt a little rushed plot wise, and the storyline seemed to bounce around quite a bit. There were also some inconsistencies with some the characters, particularly Mercedes and Clove. This is why it was only a three star read for me.
This series definitely has potential and I am looking forward to the next book, and would definitely recommend it to a friend. While the beginning of this book did start out a little cliche- boyfriend cheats on her with best friend, we all probably saw that coming from the blurb, and this aspect of the story wasn’t dwelled on too much.
Ria was an great FMC, and I enjoyed how real she was, and how she didn’t let anyone’s opinions about her career get to her (except for the little self doubt around her fiancé, which is only human- and that’s another thing I liked about her.) She was an extremely personable character, although she seemed a bit whiney at times, and kept it real. I would love to see more about her background, particularly her home life, and i’m hoping we get more of that in the next book.
Moving on, I’ve got to be honest- none of the guys really left that much of an impression on me. They all seemed fine, and I loved how they laughed and joked around together, but there wasn’t enough time focused on each of them to get a true sense of their individual characters, and because of that, they definitely seem more one dimensional and the only thing i’ve really picked up on is how GORGEOUSSSS they are. But we all expect this by now, right? I hope in the future books we get more of their POV and personalities.
One thing I do want to mention though, is how much i LOVED Drea. She was a great friend, especially compared to Ria’s last best friend, and I loved her relationship with the boys. She was definitely a little sister figure, and I really enjoyed her scenes.

The premise was interesting but my problem was Ria. She starts out strong, if not conceited, but there are quite a few things that don’t add up.
You’re super intuitive and your gut never steers you wrong but you’re surprised when you find your fiancé in bed with your best friend.
You’re not even a full fledge sun but magically know how to banish something and have better instincts than six sins who have been around since the beginning of time.
Super abusive background that includes scars from a whip that are only mentioned once and never in terms of her stripping where people would definitely notice. For the characterization I guess.
She rushes head first into situations for no reason and comes off as an unnecessary risk.
The guys tended to bleed together. There wasn’t much aside from the initial introduction for their appearances that really set them apart besides a couple accents. It would have been great to see interactions and relationships fleshed out.
I don’t think I would classify this as a reverse harem after reading just book one and I don’t feel the desire to continue the series.
Prediction for the next book: the inner self is going to be the 7th sin. It feels like it’s set up for that to make Ria important.

Sinless is the debut novel from this brand new author, Jenica Saren. Whilst the start was a little slow for me, the story was interesting enough to pull me through to where the story and writing started to meld together and pick up pace. The first 50% of the book is more about the character and the world building and the second half of the book is where we start to discover more about the mystery that is the Severin brothers.
I liked the main character Ria, she is sassy enough to hold her own and confident in herself. I found her internal debates and battles with herself humorous and particularly liked that she's not a character who is "innocent" or "pure", she's a stripper and she's proud of it, because why shouldn't she be! The Severin brothers are a mixture, one in particular is rude to Ria, but I'm secretly hoping he falls harder for her as I love me an arrogant a**hole who falls hard.
The book didn't end on a cliffhanger, but it did end with me wanting to know what will happen next. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series when it's released and finding out more about Ria, Drea and the Severin brothers.

I need more!
I absolutely loved this story! I really enjoyed how The author strayed from The beaten path of shifters and fae and all those common themes and put her very imaginative spin on the seven deadly sins. The fmc is wonderfully unapologetic about who she is as a person, which I find refreshing. Especially considering the tidbits that were revealed about her childhood, real person or not I totally admire her spirit and snark! Jenica saren's sense of humor had me chuckling through most of the book, I'm really happy that I came across this little gem. Of course all of the guys were yummy 😋 in RH I usually can't pick a favorite and since there's six I could imagine how hard it would be to get to know all of their complexities in the first book, so I can't wait to learn more about them. Right now I would have to say that Eliam is my favorite, but to be fair he was the main focus in this 1st book since Ria had to break through his icy exterior. I really do want them all though. Can't wait for the next book!

The book is really well written, and extremely engaging. I couldn’t put it down once I started. The story line is fantastic, and well thought out. Oh, and the events that took place were a complete surprise. I mean, I had a vague idea of what the book was about (I.e. I saw it was a reverse harem and jumped on board) but how it laid out totally caught me off guard...I loved it!

I read this book after finishing the Dark Side series by Kristy Cunning. I wanted another RH series with the Seven Deadly Sins. I found this series and was very intrigued by the synopsis. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of the book. The story/ plot was very promising, but there were many editing errors that should have been fixed, which made the book almost impossible to finish. The sub-plot villain was very easy to figure out but beyond the who, we are never told the how or what was really going on. Yes, this is a first book, but I ended it with way more questions and too few answers, with no real motivation to read the rest of the series. The main character is completely one dimensional and just moves on from things without ever actually processing or really thinking about them again. If you like real world- building and multi- dimensional characters do not read this book. -Jess.

The whole inner goddess dialogue is so overused. It wasnt bad in Fifty Shades (while it was a good story just horribly written), this was just annoying. If you think of your inner thoughts as a separate person, you have a mental illness and need to see a doctor. The h in the story was annoying and a narcissist. I don't mind if some thinks they're beautiful and sensual, but when it's in every chapter gets old. I could only get about half way through the book hoping we got more of a story but only got more stupid inner dialogue with the h. Not sure what the author was trying to do but h was all over the place. At first, you think, h is a little bit of a bad*ss but then turns into a weak woman. Just wished there was more to the h than a narcissist with questionable mental health issues.

Good, but needs some work
I really enjoyed the premise of this book, and do look forward to reading more of the series. However, it was three stars for me instead of the four that I likely would have rated it due to a great deal of editing that needs to be done. There were numerous missed words, incorrect words, as well as references to story or background that had not been given. I think once the author gets a few more books under her belt that she’ll likely revise this one and it will be much improved. If it weren’t for the volume of errors disrupting the flow of the read, this would be a solid four stars for me. I look forward to seeing how her writing style develops and how her work improves over time!

Great Read
At first I wasn't so sure about this book. It felt like the MC had stumbled upon a group of guys already in an RH relationship with Drea. But as it went on I really liked it. Ria is tough as nails and let's nothing hold her back. I have a feeling I know where this series is heading and I like it. I still have questions that went unanswered that I hope gets answered in book 2. Also the span of this entire book took place in only a week. Kinda crazy cause it felt like a month. Oh well. If you love a strong female with a horrible past and doesn't spill all her secrets in the first book and is pretty damn tough and funny, and 6 sexy guys who happen to be 6 of the deadly sins who also have demons in their pasts give this one a chance.

So unique and so sassy
This was definitely better than I expected it to be. And I absolutely love the main character. Ria is sassy, hilarious, confident, and badass. I really like seeing a character who is attractive and knows it. It's so common to have female leads who don't know how pretty they are and all insecure. So, I really appreciate that Ria's insecurities had nothing to do with her appearance.
The story is unique with a great supernatural twist and it's pretty fast paced. I finished it practically in one sitting. Definitely recommend! I can't wait for the next one.

I was very excited to read this book and I'm so happy that I did!
The story is very interesting. It's different and unique to the author. It's compelling and draws you in easily. The characters are intriguing. The MC is sassy yet still vulnerable. She's strong yet still has a soft quality about her that makes you want to cuddle her and protect her. The guys are drool worthy. They're all very different from one another, each with a totally different personality from the other, but the dynamic they have works perfectly. I'd have loved to get to know them more, as we only get a feel for 2/3 of them in this book, but I am very much looking forward to learning more about them!

Great book!!!
A stripper get burned by her fiancé and runs for the hills only to find herself in a quaint little town that she decides to settle in. At a coffee shop she meets a couple new friends and ends up getting an offer she can’t refuse. Later she discovers that the Seven Deadly Sins aren’t really what she was taught growing up, and this quaint little town isn’t what it seems. There is a mysterious epidemic of people getting sick and dying, and there are also people going missing. Excellent book! I can’t wait to read the next one! Also, this book does have some sexy scenes in it, but nothing really dark or out of the norm.

Definitely 5 star worthy
I don’t give 5 stars often, but when a book is well written and keeps me engaged it gets 5 stars! I loved Ria’s personality she didn’t worry about what people thought of her and was true to herself throughout the whole book. The guys mesh well too. Each one was interesting and sometimes with 6 guys the more quite ones are forgotten. Not in this book! Each guy had plenty of talk time and I loved hearing from them and my favorite part was a couple chapters had from one of their point of views. I love that in books. Give you more of a whole picture type of view.

A hilarious tale of Ria's life stumbling across 6 Sinfully gorgeous men. This tale is told in a refreshing way that has you laughing from beginning to end, constantly thinking "did she really?" and "no way!". We have the inner monologue of a sass filled girl who is slightly crazy, but it feels so realistic in that she has thoughts most of us probably would in the same situation. We get to have the occasional varied POV of one of the guys, but it is always to help the storyline across when it's a blank time for Ria so that the story doesn't just fizzle in a moment. I'm excited to see where this goes next in Sinful (Deadly Omen Book 2)!
