Azalea Attorney Ella King has a case. Browerton Attorney Hart Blackwood does, too. Too bad they’re adversaries. When Ella and Hart clash, sparks fly in and out of the courtroom. But with the holidays approaching, the judge wants their troublesome case off his docket. Despite the giving season, Hart and Ella’s clients can’t agree on anything, and Ella and Hart are locked in a head-to-head battle. It would take a Christmas miracle to thaw relations between the parties. But could the memory of one night years ago reignite an even bigger flame between Hart and Ella?
A brand new Mississippi King/Blackwood crossover story.

I thought maybe this book would be hot and gritty like the first book with Elise and Garrett. I was hoping Hart would be kinky like his brother. Neither of these things happened. It was too short and the story was missing an edge. So that was disappointing.

⚜ Rate ★★★✩✩ ⚜
English: "Christmas in Blackwood" by Celia Aaron is a short Christmas romance from the "Blackwood" series.
Attorneys Elle King and Hart Blackwood are involved in a trial for which the judge proposes that they have to meet three times for settlement conferences during the trial to reconcile their positions. What this judge doesn't know is that the two already know each other and don't forget each other.
I think it is not even a year since I read the book Blackwood, and when I discovered this book, I jumped into it as I fell in love with Garret Blackwood.
Well, it doesn't follow the same genre as that first book since that one was a dark romance, and this one is more of a sweet book with a Christmas theme when Elle has to go to the Blackwood's house for a reconciliation conference.
I was amused by the way Hart refers to his brother Garret and sister-in-law Elise as kickboxing activity when they heard some noises in the house. It gives me satisfaction that this couple is still so explosive. ⚜ Rate ★★★✩✩ ⚜
Just before Christmas the two are opposing counsel in a civil case. Working on the trial, their attraction rekindles an insatiable need that began in a bar years ago and held strong ever since and eventually explodes with inevitable scorching hot sex.
Why is he trying to melt my heart? He already melted my panties.
DNF: I listened to (part of) this on audiobook on the Read me Romance Podcast.
The male narrator has worst Southern accent I have ever heard. It sounded like a joke. For authors choosing narrators, less is more when it comes to Southern accents. I am a Southern woman and this is the worst I have ever heard. I do not want to listen to a book narrated by Colonial Sanders, Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam or Boomhower from King of the Hill. Just no. I had to turn it off.
Garrett’s brother, Hart, is the lawyer on a case for Bonnie and Ty from the diner. Ty’s brother is suing him because of them using an eggnog recipe of their moms for profit.
Hart is happy to help them out, but he’s also excited to get close to the opposing council — a woman who he has been thinking about for years since they first met during a drunken bar incident.
He’s hoping to get closer to her, and she’s hoping to get through this case without caving in to him.
Hart is Garrett’s brother from Blackwood. And I guess Ella is a side character from another series by this author (that I haven’t read).
Blackwood was more dark and mysterious and I enjoyed that about it. This one is just a novella and it was pretty standard contemporary romance. Nothing really dark or anything about it.
It was sweet and Hart and Ella were cute together. It was just kind of bland. Pretty vanilla. And the “I love you’s” were thrown around too quickly.
Still, it was an okay read. I would’ve liked it to follow a darker theme like Blackwood, but it was alright.

Intelligent, accomplished characters with a banter / chemistry combo that had me hooked within the first few words.
I instantly fell for both Hart & Ella - and not just because of their (initially) implied backstory - but because they were my fave kind of enemies to lovers. Smart. Sassy. Sexy. Sincere.
Engaging plot, balanced established character cameos, great supporting characters and a “snowed in at Christmas” twist.
Loved it.
* Also, for what it’s worth, I’ve not (yet!) read Blackwood, but I didn’t at all feel lost - if anything this companion novella merely left my interest piqued AF for Garret’s book. *
** I’ve admitted previously that I’m a fickle bitch when it comes to audio books. This is proved perfectly here by the fact that the same narrators read this story as read the last RMR title I listened to - and this this time (unlike last time) - they owned my ears! Even when I felt like maybe the male narration was a touch exaggeratedly southern, I stayed in the story! **
Title: Christmas at Blackwood Author: Celia Aaron Format: Audio Narrator: Kit Swann and Curt Bonnem Genre: Romance Holiday, Enemies to Lovers, Second Chance Standalone Part of a Series: Takes place is the same world as Blackwood Secondary characters featured in Blackwood POV: Ella and Hart Steam Level; Slow burn to steamy 4/5
I listened to this book on the Read Me Romance podcast. While a fun story, the male narrator’s accent was highly distracting. I’d definitely read rather than listen to this novella.
3.5 stars. I listened to the podcast for this one on RMR. A new to me author. It wasn’t a bad Christmas story. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it instead of listened. The male narrator’s “accent” was very over the top at time. Sometimes hard to understand. I read a review that said they were disappointed because it wasn’t dark like the others in the series, but I don’t do dark so I probably won’t check them out.
loved, hoping for more soon? i was searching KU and looking for a great read ...didn't realize that Celia had added to this series ... 1.5 Blackwood? i think it was??! novella. Christmas!! oh yeah!! love Christmas reads. i really enjoyed this series? i am guessing it could be called that??! any who ... wanted more ... fun quick read. great cover.
I loved this book couldn't put it down. Hart Blackwood from A small town in Browerton is a lawyer and he is the attorney for Bonnie and her husband Ty owne Bonnie's diner. Ella King is from Azalea and she is the attorney for Rayford who is Ty's brother. Ella is hoping that Hart doesn't remember her from the past, but Hart can't wait to see Ella and he hopes she remembers him. Judge Houston wants both Hart and Ella to have three settlement conference before he comes back from christmas vacation. On their first conference at the Blackwood estate Hart and Ella couldn't get their hands off each other. When they go back to court there are some changes that works for both sides.
I absolutely adore Celia Aaron but this one just missed the mark for me. I didn't connect with the main couple and their relationship at all, felt like there was very little spark and everything just happened in such a short time span. I know it's a novella and there's always some relationship development missed but I just found this a bit boring.

This was a sweet crossover story of Ella (from Mississippi King) and Hart (from Blackwood). The setting is a courthouse right before Christmas and Ella and Hart are on opposing counsel. Quick, entertaining read with a sprinkle of Christmas.
Cute southern style Read Me Romance audiobook. Not usually my thing, but I kind of enjoyed it. Small town romance with a family fighting over a recipe get lawyers involved and those lawyers are our love story. Cute and fun. nothing too extreme, but enjoyable.
This book was a bit of a disappointment. It does not have any of the mystery, steamy sex or adventure that Blackwood has. The court case that the book is centered around is not very interesting. Celia Aaron is a good writer and I suggest her other books.
Listened on RMR podcast. Opposing council get stuck together after a snow storm blankets the area, she doesn't think he remembers but he does, the night they met just after college.
He has wanted more with her ever since and now they have their chance.
forced proximity? rival lawyers? cozy small town christmas? hot southern man (with the matching accent? this book has it all. this was so good. the accent REALLY did it for me. i love a good rival lawyer story. perfection.
Really loved this! Adversaries who had a moment and that moment is right there between them. Great sparks flying in a winter storm, and sexiness all around 🥰
Just loved this novella, nothing like a Blackwood (Hart) and a King (Ella) to make sweet Christmas magic together, added bonus Garrett and Elise in the story.
3.5 - I enjoyed the storyline and characters, probably would have liked it better if it was full length and everything could be more developed, like the small town setting
