I’m a fairly reasonable book reader, but books like this really make me angry. It was a complete waste of money, you can skip this one and go directly to the third in the series. It was simply filler, nothing happened other than at the very end, to make yet another traumatic cliffhanger.
Hannah has two men, Cole and Liam, but Liam and Hannah aren’t a ‘couple’ in this one. Lots of outside drama and answers are dribbled out one tiny increment at a time. TONS of miscommunication so that all the characters are in the dark. So frustrating.
***I absolutely loved the first in this series, so don’t let my bad mood on this one sour the series. I’m enjoying the third, so I feel the author wanted to strettttttch out this one for the payday. I get it, I just don’t like it.

This a wellwritten and fastpaced story that captivated me from the start. The storyline is entertaining and actionpacked. The characters are wonderful. Can not wait for the next book in this series.

Intelligent and emotional
I’d probably give this book 4.5 ⭐️ if I could.
This is the second book in a continuing series and should only be read after the first book or it won't make any sense.
I am beginning to hate this author with the burning passion of a 1000 fiery suns! Another horrendous cliffhanger!!! I feel like my heart has been squeezed and I can’t take another breath until I download the next book. ARGGHH!!!! I need to sleep!!!! To be honest this author is lucky I’m taking the time to write this review because I want to know what happened next and this is delaying me! I’m just glad the book is already out.
This book is a lot more emotional than the first with some heartbreaking miscommunications, tortuous returning memories and broken women. At the same time the cerebral quality of the first book remains. There are so many layers to this book it’s hard to describe it. This is not the simple dystopian RH series I thought it was going to be when I started. In fact it’s barely a ménage in this book, more of a triangle.
One of the reasons why this is not a typical RH/ménage book is that the reason for starting a polyandrous relationship was purely political. It was to create stability in the compound and in the end it became something else.
As you read the book you see the characters tear themselves apart because emotional relationships must take second place to survival. There is always something that is incredibly important because they are existing on a knife’s edge. There are so many missed moments of connection and explanation because something else must come first. This is a very clever plot device because it is utterly believable. It’s not tenuous or obvious it’s simply understandable, and very sad.
The plot is continuing to be slowly revealed and at the same time the tension is ramping up even further as we understand more of what has been going on. We get to gain understanding as Hannah regains more snippets of memories.
This is a very intelligently written series and I still hate the author. I’m going to go and pay for the privilege of hating them some more now. There better not be another cliffhanger or I’m staying awake all night!

Fans des postapokalyptischen Genres kommen bei dieser Buchreihe wirklich voll auf ihre Kosten.
Hier werden großartige Charaktere in eine rasante Story mit unvorhersehbaren Wendungen eingebettet. Persönlich wurde ich hier von einem Adrenalinstoß in den nächsten befördert. Kaum hatte ich das Gefühl, dass die Story jetzt mal in ruhigem Gewässer weiterläuft, kam die Autorin auch schon mit dem nächsten nervenaufreibenden Ereignis um die Ecke. Ich muss sagen, ich bin hier kaum zum Durchatmen gekommen und wenn ich diese Reihe abgeschlossen habe, werde ich mich definitiv etwas „Leichtem“ widmen, um wieder etwas mehr Ruhe in mein Nervensystem zu bringen.
Was ich an diesem Buch überhaupt nicht mochte war die Entwicklung zwischen Liam und Hannah. Die gerade frisch begonnene „Liebesbeziehung“ der beiden wurde plötzlich zu einer unüberwindbare Mauer des Schweigens, die fast aus dem Nichts zwischen beiden entstanden ist. Von einer Minute auf die andere waren die Fronten so verhärtet, dass hier zwischenmenschlich gar nichts mehr gegangen ist. Diesbezüglich hat sich die Autorin für mich wirklich etwas zu weit aus dem Fenster gelehnt. Natürlich wollte sie der Geschichte damit wohl noch mehr Grundlage und Inhalt geben, um der Story mehr Raum für zukünftige Entwicklungen zu verschaffen. Aber Hannah mit ihrem nicht enden wollenden Selbstmitleid und Liam mit seiner übertriebenen Selbstbeherrschung wurden mir nach einer Weile dann einfach zu langatmig und die Situation zwischen den beiden ist mir am Ende des Buches nur noch auf die Nerven gegangen. Die Story hat dadurch leider einen etwas faden Beigeschmack für mich bekommen und ich hoffe, dass mich im nächsten Buch nicht ähnliches erwartet. Nichtsdestotrotz kann ich kaum abwarten herauszufinden, wie es weiter geht …..

So I read the first book and this book all in one day and I will probably read the third well into the wee hours of the night. That’s how much it’s got me wrapped up.
So far this series fits in no category that I can think of...is it a romance? Suspense? Action/adventure? It’s definitely a dystopian story...I’m just...I’m at a loss. I don’t know which group of my friends to recommend this series to! Haha
I will say that Hannah is starting to bother me just a wee bit...just a smidge, really...there was some immaturity in this book that could have been avoided. I am fully team Liam, though, so maybe I’m biased.
Im going to read the third book, of course, and that will determine how many more of this author’s books I devour. There are some seriously cool things going on with the plot and I am interested to see how it all gets worked out.
Hopefully it will be less Hannah fainting and hand wringing and more action in the next installment.

I appreciated the story in this, it was an interesting way of continuing to unravel the mystery of why the world is like it is. Liam’s character is very interesting.
However, the miscommunication and OW drama in this book was extremely distracting and very frustrating for me. At first it was miscommunication because survival takes first precedence so there wasn’t time to explain but it quickly devolved into unbelievable levels of poor communication and took away from the good writing and enjoyability of the story for me. It was pretty easy to come up with ways to accomplish the plot points without the drama. But hey, I also HATE miscommunication in my books.
So overall this was a bit of a let down from part 1 since, again, the story was interesting but I was so mad at the characters it was distracting. I was skimming towards the end to advance the plot for myself faster.

Heartbreak and getting answers
Chasing Truth (Outlasting Series Book 2) is a well written post apocalyptic romance that is slowly revealing the truth behind the world as they know it now. Hannah’s memories are beginning to return slowly, which is traumatic in and of itself. And now there’s two women who seem to know her, but she doesn’t know them.
The tentative dynamic between Hannah, Cole and Liam has stalled, assumptions are made and communication is avoided and at time impossible. This angst on top of the secrets feeding the plot of this book creates and urgency and anxiousness for twist that is bound to happen. And oh, does it happen! The ending left me reeling, shell shocked and a whole lot heartbroken. I’m so glad Book 3 is ready and available (already 1-clicked it before writing this review!) so I can learn what happened and what comes next.

Great apocalyptic world-building. Interesting, believable characters, both men and women.
Nuanced relationships between: Cole (the leader) and Liam (his best friend and co-leader); the older, wiser Cookie and Cole, Liam, the other men, and Hannah; Cole and the men he leads; Hannah and the men.
The group relationships require Cole's and Cookie's work to maintain. They are carefully supported by Liam and Hannah.
Heartbreak, fear, desire, and the addition of Lena and Flynn to the group create complications and suspense. As does the information revealed by the three women about the huge, regimented city called "the Wall." A necessary trade expedition in the extreme cold is successful, but disaster strikes when least expected.
Just like Book 1, Book 2 ends with an abrupt, sucker-punch cliffhanger.

This is the second part of a series and cannot be read as a stand alone, this book like the first also ends in a cliff hanger.
This is another actions packed adventure as we follow Liam, Cole and Hannah and the dynamics of new relationships, remembered pasts and devastation.
With Hannah remembering parts of her past, she remembers that there were other women caged up and the men lead a rescue mission. With their success comes the retrieval of two women Lena and Flynn who remember Hannah, but she does not remember them.
All three of them struggle and eventually one of them leaves, however it leaves the compound vulnerable and after a supply run, heartache ensues.
The cliff hanger is good and i was so glad to have book three at the ready so i can read on...

We continue where book 1 left off. I really think you need to read book 1 to enjoy this one. We follow Liam, Cole, and Hannah where they rescue other women and the whole group adjust to having more women in their group. It was full of exciting new tidbits, courtesy of Hannah's flashbacks. I really did enjoy this book as it felt like a TV show series worth of excitement from all the new things Magill adds to this book. It did read more like a post-apolyptic story with a bit of romance, compared to book one which had more romance in it. I still enjoyed it though, despite being a big romance fan. It did end in a cliffhanger that made me go "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" so now I'm just dying to read book 3.

Mesmerizing in its secrecy and slow reveals through Hannah's lost memories, this book was a fascinating read. I have to be upfront about the ending which was a great cliffhanger but I also hated it for its memorable scene with Cole. I get the ruthlessness of this world. Hannah's memories clearly show that. Obviously everyone is at risk in this vengeful world so it wasn't a total surprise - just an unwelcome one. The author sucked me into an incredibly imaginative world with the creation of this series. I'm sure more horrific reveals are yet to come. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Chasing Truth had me flipping pages faster than I could imagine. The pacing of this book is very well done and at points I had to put it down to make myself focus on other tasks at hand.
While the love interest between Hannah, Liam, and Cole stalls a little bit in this book it is mostly warranted due to the nature of what they’re doing (not that that kept me from being frustrated the whole time). A lack of communication results in big assumptions being made, which is usually something that I can’t stand in books. This was done really well and didn’t have me questioning it until well into the third book.

Honestly, this book was just too stressful for me. A lot of the character stuff was really well done but I was very distracted by the romance elements being stressful. I'm honestly still annoyed about . I had a real hard time liking Flynn and Lena, throughout, which I'm not sure was the goal. They never grew on me. That said, the world is still so good and the other characters are really excellent.

This book did not disappoint. The writing, characters and storyline have continued to move forward and I enjoyed every page.
Some interesting secrets have been discovered while other continue to be hidden.
I do have to say my heart has been pounding for the last couple of chapters as I had the feeling something was about the happen and man was I right 😱
Well I do hate cliff hangers but that’s ok, I’m totally sucked into the series and book 3 is just waiting to be opened.

all he wanted was simple answers to all his questions but the more he tries to find it the harder it is getting. then there is the women more importantly her. Will he find what he is looking for? Will he get the girl? See what will happen

I advise readers to read book one prior to this book so you are aware of the characters and what’s going on. This story is wonderful, I’m loving every minute of it and looking forward to the next book. If you enjoy a great dystopian story then give this one a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

I was sceptical about this book as I thought the 1st book lacked emotion, but decided to give it a fair go and I was not disappointed. I loved reading the characters evolve, and at times were shouting at them or crying with them. If you like distopian themes and complicated love stories, I recommend it.

The plot thickens!
Loving this series and Chasing Truth follows beautifully. You can feel the icy stream, the snow and the hard work. Walk beside Hannah, Cole, Liam and the others as they strive to lead better lives, learn to live with their pasts, and feel the difference Hannah makes. It’s really dynamic reading that should not be rushed!

Deadlands
This book adds a little more to the story despite the Cliffhanger at the end. Yes there's a cliffhanger at the end that the author makes no secret about that finish the story you need to read the third book.
This series is very suspenseful and exciting and I cannot wait to see how it all ends.

The second novel in the Outlasting Series, continues on with Cole, Liam and Hannah searching for truth in a post apocalyptic world. Total action throughout ending in a cliffhanger but well worth the read.

I wasn't sure that I would like this book, the style of writing just didn't click with me, but I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. The twist at the end was the perfect hook to make you want to read the next book and hopefully get some of the mysteries solved.

Well, you NEED Book #2 to 'keep going' (as mentioned in the review for Book #1, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS) so ~ there you go. You have no 'end' in Book #1, and now I'm seeing there won't be an end until . . . when? Book #3? #4? #5? #6? I am reading Book #3 right now ~ hope it's there! I prefer a CHOICE to continue a series ~ I resent being held hostage to BUY the next book! So I'll let you know in that review if there IS an ending!
Right now, end Book #2: we've added Flynn and Liam's "little shadow" to the mix ~ you KNOW this has become a powder keg: Hannah doesn't understand that relationship, so Hannah and Liam are not speaking; the question of "what's behind the wall?" *sort of* is being answered; Flynn and Hannah's hatred; (dead) Andy's betrayal, which Flynn can't deal with . . . so much going on in a wonderfully written way. Solid writing. GREAT characters ~ well done (just wish there were NO CLIFFHANGERS!!!)
Right now, end Book #2: we've added Flynn and Liam's "little shadow" to the mix ~ you KNOW this has become a powder keg: Hannah doesn't understand that relationship, so Hannah and Liam are not speaking; the question of "what's behind the wall?" *sort of* is being answered; Flynn and Hannah's hatred; (dead) Andy's betrayal, which Flynn can't deal with . . . so much going on in a wonderfully written way. Solid writing. GREAT characters ~ well done (just wish there were NO CLIFFHANGERS!!!)
