You’re not the only one. All too often, the topic of sexual purity is presented as something that’s exclusively a male issue. As a result, women who struggle with pornography or masturbation are left to feel as if they’re the only ones. But this isn’t just a “guy” problem. Finally bringing this topic to the light, Uncompromising Purity provides encouragement and practical strategies to overcome these and other addictions and temptations that keep women from living in freedom. By challenging the world’s imitation of love, Kelsey and Everett provide straightforward, honest, and inspiring advice on how to become uncompromising in the true love we were created for.
I was genuinely excited about this book after hearing Kelsey Skoch on a podcast.
Pros - the content is necessary and addresses issues many women are facing today. The book challenged me to think about my past, exposure to content, and how that impacts me and relationships.
Cons - the writing is so simplified and generalized that I'd have a hard time recommending this to anyone. The author could've used a more aggressive editor to tighten up sentence structure, expound on generalizations, provide more research, etc. The book is clearly written for Catholics which is great, but I was hoping for something that was aimed at Catholics and non-Catholics alike. There's not enough here outside of some Catholic church teaching that I could give the book to a non-Catholic, or even a non-practicing Catholic.
I read this on a Kindle. The Kindle edition thinks the entire book is one chapter and has all citations at the end of each chapter. This doesn't make it unreadable in any way, but you don't know where you actually are in the chapter and then have to skim past citations to get to the next chapter.
If you’ve been to one of her talks, it’s very similar information! The talk is more engaging because, well.. human. But the book is fast, short, and helpful if you are looking for tools to use/give for breaking out of a porn/masturbation habit. That being said.. I could also see it being potentially triggering for someone who has found some freedom in their journey, but are still very vulnerable. Which, for most, could be at a variety of times along the way! So, good! But guard your hearts! <3
The authors address difficult topics with courage, knowledge, and compassion. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is facing these addictions or who knows someone who is. They have rooted their information, explanations, and suggestions in the love and mercy of God which makes it so meaningful and convincing.
This is a wonderful book! Kelsey Skoch did an excellent job, by presenting a topic that is mainly a "male issue": Pornography. As a female, it is hard to find articles and videos at first, but more than ever, women (religious and non-religious, alike) are coming out of the woodshed and are sharing their stories. I highly recommend this book for women ages 12 and up.
This book was very insightful and helpful for any woman who struggles to free herself from Porn or maturation. Society and even the church fail to realize that women struggle with this too because these sexual desires are primarily dug into males. I for myself had a struggle personally and this book made reflect on my own past struggles and wished I had this book sooner. The way Kelsey wrote this book was so lovingly and whole heartedly. She was not shaming anyone for the sin, instead she guided and reminded us how precious we truly are to God.
If you happen to be in a hole of sexual sin and can not see the way out, seek out this book and find true meaning of Sexual freedom.
