This is the new Western adventure from D.M. Haggard. The saga of two warriors---one intent on killing the other. Both intent on living.
Set in Texas during the 1800s, this spell-binding story follows Texas Ranger, Jake Walker, as he is pursued by an Apache intent on avenging his brother’s death. A shadowy figure watches the chase from afar—a figure who will play a prominent role in this adventure. Filled with twists, turns and surprises—this adventure is one that will set man against man, and man against the rugged terrain of the Old West. In the end, will it take a bond between three men to overcome a greater adversity than revenge?

D. M. Haggard, aka D. M. Horridge, was born in Texas, raised on cactus, dust, and a strong family. When I was very young, I would visit my uncle's farm in San Antonio and work side by side with my seven cousins baling hay, swimming in a round cow trough, and hunting rattlesnakes. I've hunted and fished all over the United States, and have worked like a trojan on my own ranch in Texas. I've written short stories and professional articles for a variety of marketing and professional magazines, but only recently started writing western adventure stories. I like learning about the real characters of western history and use them in a fictional way. I feel like I am preserving their memory and the heritage they left for us over time. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife of 55 years, two terrific children, and a million friends. I try to leave a message in every book that says to the reader, "we are all part of this world of ours and we need to work together to keep it from falling apart." My family is the most important part of my life. I have also been blessed with four fabulous grandchildren and two spouses of our children who have brought a wonderful depth to our family and extended family. One of my favorite subjects is the Texas Rangers, a group of tough, honorable, and law-abiding men and women. Only recently I have begun a series of children's books named "The Amazing Adventures of Two Boys." They represent many of the stories my father told to my brother and me as children. Always exciting, but not frightening, they give me great pleasure to write and publish on Amazon under my father's name, Don Horridge, and my name D. M. Horridge. All of the proceeds from these children's books are donated to children's ministries throughout the world. Thanks for listening.
I found this book to be shallow at best, pure balderdash at worse. Even though the author puts in a disclaimer that he used historical characters in this book and has greatly exaggerated these characters I find the blatant inaccuracies he gave towards Samuel H. Walker and John Salmon “Rip” Ford were disgraceful to these two men. Rip Ford did not even join the Texas Rangers until 1846 when he enlisted in John Coffee Hays’ Texas Mounted Rifles and after leaving the Rangers went on to various jobs, including politics. Samuel Walker did not marry in 1846 and had several children. Most importantly he was not murdered and scalped on his ranch but was killed in battle in the Mexican war on October 9, 1847. The “exaggerated” references to these two men is disgraceful to their legacy and gives the uninformed reader a wrongful view of these two great men in the history of Texas.
We have all have been introduced to Juanita Walker and Jake Walker(ex-Texas Ranger). We are introduced to Drew the prospector, Wolf his companion, Kimacho, the Apache whose sworn to avenge his brother's death by killing Jake. Now all these different personalities including Wolf are all stuck in the desert unbeknownst to them a very large hostile force is approaching the party of four. This large force included over one thousand Texas long horns, mules, horses all of heading towards Mexico pushed by Indians off the reservation..the war party consisted fourteen warriors, who were afraid of those Texas Long Horns whose horns reached more than three feet in length, a dangerous herd of you didn't know how to herd them or control them, which these warriors did by keeping a safe distance from them..my goodness! As you can read there's a lot going on and it doesn't end like you think it will. Lots of action and involving Jake, Juanita, Drew and the warrior Kimacho fighting together to save all their lives. I 'll leave that to you'll to draw a conclusion, it's a 😵dozzy. Paz Amigos
