Fourteen lessons in yogi philosophy and oriental occultism was published in English in 1912. At the time a large number of books were published about eastern religion and philosophy. Indian sages visited Europa and the USA and Hinduism and Buddhism had a huge influence until the beginning of World War I. These fourteen lessons were originally a part of a Correspondence Class Course from 1904. People could for a fee sign up and receive the lessons as they were written. The lessons are for instance: The Mental Principles, The Human Aura, Spiritual Evolution etc.
The author William Walker Atkinson wrote under the pseudonym Yogi Ramacharaka and he wrote more than hundred books. He met the guru Baba Bharata but it is disputed how much personal knowledge he have had about the topics he wrote about.

Excellent basic introduction to yogi philosophy. Starts with the seven principles of man. Physical, astral, prana, two intelligences -instinctive and more evolved intellect, and two spirit principles - spiritual mind and Spirit.

"The yogi philisophy teaches that man is composed of seven principles. The real self is pure spirit - a spark of divine fire. The spirit is encased within numerous sheaths, which prevent its full expression. As man advances and development, his consciousness passes from the lower planes to the higher and he becomes more and more aware of his hire nature. "

I’m quite grateful my father leant me a copy of this book; it resonated with me and moved me in many ways, and I’d say there’s something for all readers to learn here. Even if you consider yourself a skeptic of yogi philosophy, you’re quite likely to find something in this book that will pique your interest or stimulate you.

Impressed immensely that you have found Yogi Ramacharaka.
I have an old, very much read and loved book called 'Yogi Philosophy and Oriental Occultism' which has been my spiritual book of choice for decades. It is now as new to me as it always has been - it grows with the reader, unfolds information as I need to know it, and not before. No need to read with caution, what you cannot deal with will pass you by until such time as you are ready.
With thanks for reminding me I need to research this Yogi further.
