When possessive Montana bad boy Chase West sets his mind on something, he gets it. When he finds a stranger snooping on his ranch, his mind (and everything else) is set on her.
Lexi Parker, sent on a fool’s errand to convince Chase to go back to Hollywood and start filming again, has no idea what she’s in for.
Chase has Lexi so hot and confused she doesn’t know what she wants. And if she did, she’d be too embarrassed to tell him.
Luckily for her, Chase knows exactly what she needs, and he’s going to give her the ride of her life, over and over again.
Saddle up, Sugar. Get ready for a cowboy-caveman. Chase West is an alpha male to the nth degree. Expect humor, coarse language, graphic and steamy situations, and insta-love.
So first off the smut aspect of this book was on point... but the story line SUCKED!
This girl is so afraid of Chase that she runs away and falls into a well.. then he gets her out and takes her to a local doctors.. she then steals a knife from the doctor to protect herself from Chase.. all the while she is thinking sexual things about him and he hasnt done anything to her to make her think he was a bad guy.
Then they dont even know each other and after 2 days they're in LOVE??? Ugh story sucked!
3.5 stars. This was hot. Low plot. High tension and steam. The sex was explicit and sexy, with really good dirty talk.
I’d just say I was little done with how over the top Chase’s thoughts were by the halfway point.
Then the ending. I mean I get it. It’s a short book and she falls in love with Chase who can make her dream come true for her. I just thought it was a bit too easy that she accepted that so fast when she’s been fighting him so hard at the beginning.
But, whatever, I’m not mad at it. The sex more than made up for it in my opinion.
Cowboy heartthrob meets girl-on-a-mission and sparks fly Oh. Wow! I spent most of this book with my thigh’s clinched. This was one steamy, alpha-male-meets-his-equal romance and I LOVED it. Lexi has taken time off from her job as a paper-pusher at Vital Studios to get back the top-dollar actor for the studio, Chase West. Their promise: to put her screenplay on top of the pile to review for potential action if she can bring in the elusive actor. Unfortunately, for Lexi her car runs out of gas on a deserted road in the middle of nowhere until she feels a gun in her back… Chase West, “super-stud” actor for Vital Studios has gone off grid, which for him is just back home to his ranch in Montana. When he finds a strange woman in heels traipsing across his land, he figures she’s here for no good. What he finds instead is the woman to bring him to heel. Did I say steam? How about chapter 6 or many other times after Lexi becomes Chase’s “Honeypot.” Ms. French has written some amazingly graphic and delectable scenes. I’ve already preordered the next book about Ryder and Emma! I volunteered to review this book and it comes highly recommended for lovers of romance with a kick.
Absolutely terrible. No plot, male character is a total jerk. The barely there story is unrealistic and involves vulgar language and crude sex without consent or protection. The author calls pot farmers "tweakers" and demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge of both drug use and the farming industry. She glorifies objectification and not using birth control. On top of this, the book is poorly edited. Could use a hundred more pages to build out a plot line, language changes, and editing.

Lexi is apparently an intelligent individual. I would say you have to be reading screenplays. So why is she so naive in this story? She injures herself - quite severely I’d say - and yet she is more interested in being sexed up than her health or her life back home? I just don’t understand a character like that. Chase is supposedly Hollywood’s heartthrob… So why is he such an arse? I totally understand protectiveness of your land, of your home. But he was so exceedingly rude that I couldn’t find it in me to like him. Then the degrading and sarcastic nicknames that then turned lecherous? I can’t get behind a character like that. Not to mention his fascination of “filling her up”. You’ve known her a day and you want her to carry a baby? Nope. Nada. Nuh uh.
This was a book I came across during a Stuff Your Kindle day for all things romance. And if you know me, you know I do rather like a cowboy romance - ESPECIALLY if it has spicy moments! But oof, this one just misses the mark with me. The plot is okay, it is more plot than smut which I appreciate. But, everything just moves so fast. They’ve known each other a day and he already loves her and wants to essentially own her? Nope. Too unbelievable for me! We do get more characters than the main couple thankfully, but there is just no depth to them. I want to know more about backstories. I have no idea about what family Lexi has back home, or if she has friends even! Where are the details? This was too insta love for my liking. Chase is a complete ass from the offset and yet Lexi willingly opens her legs soon after? I can’t get behind that. I won’t deny that the spice was hot and was well written, but I wasn’t invested in it. And unprotected sex literally hours after knowing someone? BIG no no! The ending felt very flat. It was so sudden too that I was practically taken aback by the sudden stop. The epilogue is also in another brother’s POV but it doesn’t specify who and we only get a one sentence detail on where the main couple are now? Not enough.
Overall, Ride ‘em Hard is a story I had high hopes for but it did not live up to expectation.
A big part of me feels like this was written by AI. There was a general concept in the beginning and then it is mostly smut with a little bit of "oh yeah there are crazy drug people out there" inserting themselves but then completely loses the plot entirely. Like if a computer watched Yellowstone and worked on making a romance novella.
The FMC has no agency whatsoever. She is trying to track down a famous actor who went AWOL from the studio and, in the hopes of having her own screenplay read, goes to find him and bring him back to bring the movie on schedule again. But once they find each other, there is no callback to him being an actor, no reason why he left the set, and her screenplay is never brought up again (seriously). In the end (which I don't mind spoiling since reading this will be a waste of your time and kindle space), it doesn't even matter because (apparently) he has his own production company and he can just accept her screenplay, no matter what it is about! WHY was he working on another movie if he has his own production company? Why is he an actor in the first place if he has his own company?
Seriously. If you want a cowboy alphahole romance, there are better ones than these. With juicier, well-written smut.
Hot movie star cowboy , Chase West, quit in the middle of protection, and has refused to return. Studio drone, Lexi Parker volunteered to get him back. If she succeeds her script gets moved to the top. Things don't go as planned for Lexi. She finds herself broken down in no where Montana. Then Chase West points a gun at her convinced she is paparazzi. A full on freak out lands in a well with a sprained ankle. Chase West is nothing like she expected. He is a real cowboy, an arrogant alpha, who lights her on fire with just a look. Chase has a strong attraction to the curvy trespassers. He is suspicious. He found her on Johnson land. His pot growing crazy neighbors. He likes her sassy mouth and take charge attitude. He can't keep his hands, and mouth off of her. The Johnson 's are stirring up trouble and Lexi is on their radar. Chase calls in his brothers Ryder and Shane for back up. Chase has decided that Lexi is his and will do whatever it takes to protect her. A fast paced dirty alpha cowboy romance. A nice short epilogue to wrap up their story and set up Ryder's story.
Their Shotgun Connection - Lexi’s plan to convince Chase to return to the movie set didn’t go as planned, as everything that could go wrong actually did and she found herself on the wrong side of a gun. Even though Chase was skeptical about who Lexi claimed to be, he felt an intense attraction towards her from the moment they met. The chemistry between them led them to engage in mind blowing encounters, which led to their feelings for each other growing.
However, their budding romance didn’t run smooth, as they found themselves entangled in a dangerous situation, which was not of their own making. Luckily, Chase was able to get them out of trouble with the help of his brothers, which made them finally acknowledge their feelings for each other and accept their fates. This was a fantastic story, that not only kept me eagerly turning the pages, but also on edge of my seat in anticipation of how the story would end. I found it difficult to put it down once I started reading and I am sure you will enjoy reading it too.
I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow loved this book Lexi not understanding what she has taken on looking for Chase and getting him to back to the movie studio when she meets him he is all growly and pointing a gun at her. Chase is determined to find out who and what this girl is doing on his land as he loosens his gripe she runs off and falls into the well . Chase gets her out of the well and takes her to docs to see about her ankle but while he is holding onto her he knows he doesn’t want to let go the alpha male in him is out and won’t let go of her. Lexi stays with Chase enjoying the time between the sheets and out of them but trouble comes looking for Lexi because of where her car that ran out of fuel is parked. Chase is not going to let anybody hurt what is his and with the help of his brothers trouble is diverted
Lexi can't believe it, how could she run out of gas? Now what is she going to do? She has to find Chase or lose her chance to get her screenplay go from the bottom of the stack to the top. Vital needs him back to finish the movie they are losing their shirt on without him. As she is trying to find a signal on her phone, she hears him ask what she thinks she's doing? Then she feels what feels like a gun in her back! Oh no now what? As she is trying to get away she falls in a well and hurts her ankle! Chase has to get her out and take her to old Doc. However, she is afraid to get on Angel, his horse! Then there's the Johnson's to worry about! His no account neighbors! Only now that he has to take care of her with a sprained ankle, he doesn't want to lose her! Will Lexi go along with his plan? Only one way to find out, read this story by Adriana French.
Welcome to the wild Wild West. I have been following Adriana for awhile waiting on the release of her first book. Honestly I probably mini stalked her😄with emails for any months getting updates on the release. I can 💯% say it was worth the wait. I devoured every word from beginning to end. Wow Chase West is one sexy af alpha take charge Cowboy. Lexi made me laugh with her wicked sense of humor. I liked how the relationship with Chase and Lexi felt real. All of the characters were interesting and enjoyable. Umm umm umm the brothers West are absolutely delectable with more stories yet to come. Bring on Ryder and Shane. I hope Adriana writes a story about their sister. Even though she already married in Ride ‘Em Hard I would like to know her story. Until next time y’all happy reading.
I liked this. It was VERY spicy and had the sweet ending we all crave. The plot even was pretty substantial for it being such a short book, but I found that to be quite charming in an instalove spicy read to have such a complex plot! Everything was wrapped up nicely in the end, and even got you set up for the next book that I was close to spending 3$ lol (I probs still will, but just maybe not tonight haha). This book was dual point of view. Triple if you count the end when it was from Ryders POV the only thing I would’ve liked is if maybe she put who’s POV it was in the beginning of the chapter! But the author made it very obvious who we were viewing from so it was NOT a deal breaker at all! Loved it 🩵🩵
Chase is a fantasy cowboy come to life on the pages of this enemies to lovers story. He is a disillusioned Hollywood star, back at his Montana ranch after a blow up with the production company. Lexi is a screenplay writer working at Vital Studios, the company Chase walked away from. It is her job to find him & bring him back. She doesn't expect to run out of gas & have a shotgun pointed at her though! This story has an over the top alpha protector, taking care of a spitfire young woman who is completely out of her element, but not afraid to go after exactly what she wants. Expect extreme spice, a dirty talking alpha & a sexy little spitfire who gives as good as she gets! This book is HOT, HOT, HOT! Enjoy!
Wow, what a great novella! This is the second book I've read by Adriana and this book was even better than the last (Riding Valentino). The plot was plotting, the smut was smutty, but the ending lacked a bit more detail than I'd wished for. But still a great HEA. I definitely want to read the rest of the series. At least about Ryder and Shane lol. I believe this is actually the first 5 star I've given a book that wasn't popular whether by booktok or otherwise. So I was very impressed. A handful or less of content errors but nothing that was too distracting. And that's usually very distracting when a book hasn't been thoroughly proof read and edited. Definitely recommend!
Updated: just read and downloaded the bonus scene. That's what I wanted in the end of the book!
This is a new author for me and one who has been able to change my mind about a character, because to be honest I didn't like Chase much to start with but by the end I did. This has a quick storyline with good characters with a lot of chemistry and skin on skin time. I personally would have liked to have seen their relationship in more detail between the last chapter and the epilogue and i would have liked to have found out what happened for both of them with regards to the studio. I wasn't sure about this at first because of Chase, but ended up liking what I eventually read.
Got a free copy. Chase is a dirty-talking rancher /movie star who Lexi is sent to coax back to the set for work. I didn't read much of anything that indicates she wanted to accomplish that goal. He terrorized her at their first meeting, causing her to fall down a hole. Patched up by Doc, it's off to bed shortly thereafter. Enter his family and drug dealing neighbors and it's a western circus. Plus they trust each other immediately, something undone in this day and age. Too short for the editing issues evidenced.
One super Alpha male meets one wishy washy female and sparks fly. Of course, by the end of the story you get to see that wishy washy really isn't a wilting flower when it comes to danger while super Alpha male isn't quite the hard-ass-neanderthal that he originally appears to be. Close though. The editing/proof reading needs some work, but it isn't too distracting from the story and the super hot, graphically explicit sex scenes kind of make you forget the lousy editing. All in all, a nice hot read that was very entertaining.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the characters in this book. Oh, if they were real. Lexi and Chase had electrifying chemistry. To be Lexi🙂 The plot was possible in this day and time. The writer's style was easy and believable. The characters were sexy and easy to know. The sex scenes were steaming and I loved it!!! I read this book in one sitting.
Loved this book. It was a great story. I loved the way the two main characters run into each other. She is a feisty one and it absolutely turns him on. It is a great book and I recommend this book but be aware of has dirty language but just the right amount as long as you are aware of it. Some people do get offend by this type of language but in this book it is what you would expect. Loved this book can't wait to read the next one.
the covers really drew me in bc they are so different than the normal pastel, flower, horse shoe cowboy romance book covers- overall it was a good premise for a book, a cowboy movie star quits and the company sends out someone to convince him to continue filming. they fall in love (obv) and it’s a short book so it’s instalove on his end if the story was fleshed out a bit more it would be SO good with the drug lord neighbors next door *from a stuff your kindle day*
I loved this over the top alpha man who goes to town with his over protectiveness of the woman who turns up out of the blue. Lexi wants to try to save her job by getting Chase to return to Hollywood, but when danger comes calling the cowboy throws his woman over his shoulder and Georgina blazing. Great steamy read.
This was a great story. It was well written and fast paced. The chemistry between the characters was sizzling hot. This book has everything you need to keep you turning pages, a hot sexy man, steamy scenes and some conflict thrown in. I cannot wait for what this author writes next. The writer's style was easy and believable. The characters were sexy and easy to know. The sex scenes were steaming and I loved it!!! I read this book in one sitting. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Quick, easy to read romance that spells instalove right out of the gate. Lexi and Chase are attracted to each other from the start and it gets stronger as the story progresses. Chases stakes is claim for Lexi and vows to protect her when the neighbors try to cause problems. Super cute ending!
Chase is one hot guy. He has all the right characteristics you'd want, big strong ,brave , protective and a sex god. Lexi is a beauty who is just trying to make her way in the movie industry. She is tasked with convincing Chase to return too the movie set to finish his latest film. She fails at this but lands a happy ever after with Chase. Shot fun read. Linda
