One night. One kiss and my world went to shit. Shane Hellion or Hell, as I’ve come to call him, has been my best friend for three years. It started off as a working relationship, then evolved into a partnership. Now? Christ, what am I gonna do? I have a little girl to think about. I can’t just- do whatever.
Between the ex breathing down my back and my house falling apart, how am I supposed to navigate what he wants? What do I want? I want something that can help me escape, my hell.
J. Haney was born and raised in Kentucky and still resides there with her family. Her work tends to lean toward real life, drawing her readers into a world they can get lost inside. Probably the biggest book whore, she knows. She loves books of all genres except horror… The big Chicken! Getting excited when introduced to a new author, she has been likened to a kid in a candy shop. In 2016, she partnered with S.I. Hayes, and they are now colloquially known as The Deviant Darlings, who have been on the journey of a thousand tales. Their joy for writing and helping authors led to the launch of Haney Hayes Promotions (HHP), an Author Services Company that helps authors from the ground up. Be they are just starting out or have accolades like USA Today or the Wall Street Journal, HHP strives to give every author they work with the support they need so that they can do what they love. Keep your eyes open and a fresh pair of panties close by. You know, just in case.

This is a well written friends to lovers romance with strong , well developed characters in Aria and Shane. The author does a great job developing their story and pulls you into the story right from the start. She brings the story to life with her descriptive writing ,delivering a realistic read. It's a heartfelt story, moves fluidly and I enjoyed reading.

Title: My Hell Author: J. Haney Publisher: Haney Hayes Books Series: A Twist of Fate Book 1 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review:
"My Hell" by J. Haney
My Speculation:
This was a story that will keep you turning the pages to see what all is going on with these best friends [Shane J. Hellion [Hell] & Aria [A. B. Anders]. The story was somewhat unusual in how they went from more than friends to lovers, with each of them having a child [Genevieve [Evie] & Dean]. I will say Evie was spoiled, and Dean had autism.
At times I felt somewhat sorry for the heroine [Avia] in the story. Still, at other times she got on my last nerves as she seemed not to be able to take care of things like with that ex-husband of hers and Aria didn't want any help from anyone..even Hell [Shane] who was her best friend. This situation would bring in some trouble from even her daughter Evie who started acting out due to what was happening due to her father's making. I will say the characters from this story were something else at times, especially Aria's best friend Janette [Jae].
As this family comes together and seems to be working out their lives with the four of them, something unexpected will happen. It looks like the ex-husband Richard Anderson will leave the reader wondering what in the world is going on as it appears that he has named Aria as his next of kin. Why was this? Were they not divorced? So, we will have to pick up the upcoming series to get the rest of how this story. I guess this is where the 'twist of fate' comes into play.
I feel like I got a massive glimpse into the extremely busy lives of authors and cover models in this book. The harsh way that their lives are an open book and can easily be ruined by a photograph or a simple comment that gets instantly reported and skewed out of context. Scary.
The characters were very lifelike but I just didn't feel a connection to them. The kids were real and behaved accordingly which was refreshing. Aria is an author/editor/PA/mother/superwoman! I am in awe of her superduper organisational skills and endless energy.
Shane Hellion, Hell for short, an author, ex cover model and father who is a complex character with lots of baggage. I can’t say that I really felt any intense love from the two as a couple and they didn't make me love them either. Their relationship felt too rushed for me, though I did enjoy the tension and stress between the ex-husband and Aria.
I felt that the story didn’t really need so much descriptive detail in the day to day happenings. As for having every holiday's meal described in detail, I found really unnecessary. However, I am left with a need to find out what happened next! I will be reading the next book because I just need closure.
OH MY HELL! That sentence has NEVER been so perfect for a book until NOW! I'm a HUGE fan of J. Haney, so I never even read the blurb's for her books, just read them to be honest. I am so very conflicted, as I want to give details like nobody's business, and yet, I know it's so much better going in blind, because that's what I did. This brilliant author wrote a story that magnifies the book world that I LOVE so much, so it felt very realistic showing this industry & the struggles that take place. She created characters that I loved, felt their emotions like they were my own, while also making me cheer them on. The chemistry is potent, and yet, there was still a push & pull as they tried to fight it. The descriptive genius of Ms. Haney definitely had me transported fully into her world, and I was a tad upset when I found myself back in my bedroom when finishing up the devouring of My Hell. And now, since I decided to keep this review short & sweet, it's your turn to experience it to decide for yourselves! So hit your one click buttons as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND even as I'm dying inside a bit for the next book!
If you've ever wanted a glimpse inside the lives of authors and cover models, this is it! What a terrific Friends to Lovers story! Every page was so heartfelt and the romance so believable. No one and nothing was 'perfect'. They all had their issues they were trying to deal with, just like real people. I loved all of the characters but the littles and Hell the most. They just found a place in my heart and snuggled right on in there.
This is a fast and effortless read that I'd recommend to anyone who loves a good contemporary romance with realistic characters. Three cheers and 5 hearts to Ms. Haney for such a terrific story!!

The author poured her soul into this story! There was so much emotion it dripped off the pages. I felt everything that the MC went through, fear, anger, frustration, awe, and ultimately the love of her friends. I was 100% invested in the lives of these characters. You couldn't help but root for them. The book is well written and flows really well. The plot is unique and engaging it grabs you right from the beginning. The interweaving of the book world into the background was super fun. Anyone involved in the community will instantly feel right at home. J. Haney has done a masterful job of showing industry professionals are real people with everyday struggles. This one has stolen my heart. I can't wait for the next book.
This was my first book by J Haney and I thought it was very well written. What I enjoyed most about this book was that the two MC come across as very real. They are both extremely flawed people with ups and downs going on in their lives. For Aria it is her little girl and her ex husband. For Shane it is his past and his autistic son. At times there seemed to be too much going on in the story, but every character played their part and every scene added to the story to make it such a great read. After finishing this book, I was left wanting more. In this case with the hope that some is not all these characters end up with their own book in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book

I liked the story and the characters in this book but whoever edited the punctuation needs to go back to school. There were sentences with commas if the middle that didn’t belong there. In other places there was no punctuation at all. Some of their friends were over the top and I can’t say I liked them very much. There is plenty of sex but the story itself is pretty slow and I got lost in all the different meals they fixed. There was a lot of extraneous information and repetition of other events that could have been left out and wouldn’t make a difference to the story. Warning!! There is a cliffhanger, it’s not even a happy for now. I’m not sure I want to read anymore.

Life was beyond hectic for this complex busy couple full of baggage and full of life. Aria’s precocious six year old Evie and Shane’s eight year old autistic Dean add a lot of angst and drama in this friends to lovers romance. Jam packed with day to day craziness in raising a blended family along with crazy exes, past secrets, pregnancies, and drama, drama, drama! The main couple had a solid relationship and were able to grab whatever time they could with each other amidst the chaos of their shared life. A huge unexpected cliffy at the end!

And then the book was finished when the story isn't ....... I hate open ends.
A great good story. BFF fall in love with each other (although; they both didn't realize they loved each other until Shane admitted to Aria in his drunken mood) He has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, she is known to have depression. Both have a child. Shane's son, Dean, has an autistic disorder. Chaos everywhere but despite this they manage fine. Many moments with humorous pieces, especially by the friend Jae who does not mince words. A lot happens in this book in a span of 3 months. A great read!

The relationship between Aria and Hell is just amazing I love how they work together and how they overcome each of their own issues to work together.
Aria’s past relationship was volatile and Hell is showing her what real love is and they both just blend so well.
I love that Jess writes about Mental Health and disabilities to show that it does need to be spoken about more and people need to understand a little more about it to help see signs someone around may be suffering.
That ending though 🙈🙈 can’t wait to see what happens next.
I just finished this book & I'm shocked. I loved this book. Aria is a single mother & an Author who tries handling e everything for everyone. Shane 'HELL'. He is an Author as well & single father, has worked close with Aria. After years of working together, finally their feelings came out for one another. They are now getting !married bringing their blended family together. Even though Aria has one through lottery HELL from her EX husband. Then BAM I get to the end & I was shocked!

I loved every minute of this friends to lovers romance. The story was so unique with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. I felt everything Aria and Shane are going through and cannot wait to see what happens next for them. There is romance, laughter and of course drama with a little suspense throughout this story. Definitely one not to be missed and I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens next.
A friends to lovers romance not to be missed. This story was nothing like I expected and I loved every minute. Aria and Shane, along with the rest of the characters are fantastic and the unique storyline sucks you in right from the beginning. Will they or won’t they is the question and can they survive what is lurking around the corner? A must read and I cannot wait for the next book to come out.
I enjoyed this story of falling in love with your best friend and realizing things will be ok. The merging of two families is hard work and takes lots of patience and love. I loved their support system of their fellow writers, models, friends. This ends with a cliffhanger that you just need to know what happened.

Wow this was one hell of a story. The depth of the characters and connections are so relatable. The trials they go through make your heart break. This is a story that makes you feel deeply, I laughed, I cried, I cursed the author and wanted to throw my phone. It was intriguing to watch how problems were solved in this very realistic story.
