I think this is the earliest Black US history I have read so far after reading much more recent ones for the last couple of years. I think I m,must have picked up teh title from a bibliography of something i read recently.
This was written in the mid 60s, was presumably updated for a 1970 UK release so it does include teh death of Martin Luther King which the earlier version predated.
I think it is a very interesting read and I think I came across some details included here that I don't remember reading elsewhere. So I'm not sure to what degree it is used as a source text elsewhere both books and courses. It is a good read so I will try to read some other books by the writers at some point in the future.
I do have a vast to read list ongoing.
I did note that August Meier shared a name with a musician I enjoy, so wondered if there was a shared source influence.
Both writers have written pretty widely in the area of black history and human rights anyway so may turn up elsewhere.
