How Not To Remember

Rate this book
What touches Mallika Bhaumik's poetry is the personal touch to a variety of topics in a fractured and dissolving world. There is the blending of objectivity and subjectivity,an amalgamation of psychic time with history-personal and otherwise.Time as an layered entity with both past and present freezes and sometimes disappears to become a solid ground for the mind to traverse.Inanimate things like stones get expanded into poetic landscape. The poems area dance towards and away from poetic limitation, sometimes they falter and at other times the sensual ,the metaphysical are fused in the movement.

The chiffon night is a marquee, or become the grey dusk! Some phrases that Mallika brings to her poetry are so stirring that they leave one wanting to stop reading and absorb the feeling she is evoking.
Great collection, through these poems Mallika is salvaging memory - personal and collective. Some of the poems are childlike and others bring the lens of a mature woman traversing life and renewing herself and others that touch her.
Thank you for writing this collection Mallika!
