Matthew Lock was heading to Washington, D.C., along with Logan Scott. The two had been handpicked to be part of an elite squad of U.S. Marshals formed by President Cleveland and the Attorney General. They wanted men who had never crossed the line and would bring law and order to the parts of the western territory that were having the most problems. During their meeting with the Attorney General, they were informed they would be working with Jeb Hartfield, a seasoned U.S. Marshal. Jeb had always wanted to be a marshal and had gained much experience in Texas under the guidance of Texas Ranger Kirk Holt. Together, they had brought outlaws to justice and implemented profiling of killers. Matthew, Logan, Jeb and his wife, Janie, who was also a marshal, and one other would become the new elite group of U.S. Marshals to make the western frontier a safer place.
Clint Clay is a true gentleman of the west who believes in the cowboy code and riding true to the brand. It seems he was born on a horse, for he has had them all his life never remembering a time he was without them. The author enjoys team roping and trail riding across the American landscape. He visits locations across America to ride the beautiful trails that still exist in many parks and private ranches that occupy the United States. He loves to team rope with his pards and owns some of the best horses in the country. He and his beautiful bride have a small ranch that is nestled down in the southeastern part of Kansas near the mighty Neosho River. They are native of this area and have raised a wonderful family. He has several best sellers. His nom de plume is Clint Clay with the first under that name being Bounty Hunter for Hire which remains a best seller. He has numerous books published in the western genre both poetry and fictional stories. He loves both and has always been an abet reader of westerns. His favorite writer Louis L’Amour has been influential to him. There are many other writers out there that he loves, and he doesn’t always read westerns. Clint feels it’s the experience of really feeling the wind on one’s face, hearing the squeak of saddle leather, and really being in the elements that helps his creative writing.
The typical life on a frontier farm which which usually had a large family. The more males born to these families, the better. The sons were groomed to take over the farms/ranches, usually fell upon the shouldered of the oldest son. The Lock family fed into this realm of becoming a prosperous farm/ranch. The oldest son Matthew Lock attended Columbia University Law School, located in New York City, N.Y. Matthew Lock was offered a job working for the Texas Rangers, he decided that he would work for the U. S. Marshals , evidently the President of the United States was establishing within the Marshal Service and "elite group" who would take orders directly from him. This group would tackle the worse of the worse bring them to trial. This government was setting a precedent of law and order would prevail. This particular episode of the West involved the beginning of "Forensic Science" there were number of women who were found murdered in different areas of the state, but the new elite group would pull it all together and solve and capture the perpetrators of these heinous crimes against women. These men murdered "prostitutes," women who wouldn't be missed nor did society care about their disposition..and to this day, they still feel the same. The beginning of this adventure was kind of mushy and I almost closed it down. If I'm not drawn in by the third chapter, it's a bust. The adventure gets better, but the author could have expanded on different assignments this "elite group" was investigating. Since these cities were expanding so does crime. ..right folks.
Matthew Locke: U.S.Marshal: A Western Adventure (Tales of the Old West Series Book 3)
Clint Clay is the all time old West author who can spin a tale about men who were willing to whatever it took to bring justice to the new territories being opened up in the Old west. Matthew Locke was just one of the many men who felt the call to be the best man that he could be. This was a great book and I'm anxious to see more like it.
